Update: Still AWESOME! 😁
I don't know where to begin. My taste buds are making my brain dance. I've spent half my life living overseas and a lot of that in Europe. Originally from the East Coast, I really appreciate a good gyro. I had a gyro, gyro plate, and falafel delivered. The falafel is delicious. Crispy yet smooth on the inside. The hummus it comes with is some of the best I've had with a lot of garlic. Be sure your significant other has some too. The gyro is huge. Underneath a huge pile of tender meat is just enough tomato and red onion, and tzatziki sauce to make it perfect. The house-made sauces are fresh and the perfect accompaniment. I had my food delivered and they have packing food down to an art, like making the perfect sandwich or loading a paper shopping bag. Nothing wet was touching anything dry. The salad for the gyro plate was in a separate container with the dressing on the side. The meat and rice kept the pita perfectly warm. I don't know why I hadn't tried Al's sooner. I'll definitely be going...
Read moreI love gyro's and found this place on groupon with 20% cash back.too good to be true? Now i know why it's 20% cash back. Wanted to like it but very disappointing. Ordered gyro plate and chicken gyro plate and my son had a philly cheese steak. I received 2 chicken gyro plates and the philly cheese steak and 2 salads that came with the plates. Fries are kinda soggy and sadly probably the best part of the meal. The 2 pieces of tomatoes look like they've sat out for a day or two and have seen better quality out of a buffet line... probably 10 strips of onion with no complaints there. The meat was decent but again i mention far from what i ordered. The salad had black olives that were not fresh and the same disgusting tomatoes. Overall I'll skip the phone call to the establishment complaining and chalk it up to a life experience that i will never have again. Sorry al's i wanted to like it, but your gyros rank below convenience store quality. Don't make the same mistake and spend your money...
Read moreI really wanted to enjoy my first visit to Al’s Chicago’s Finest, but the experience left a lot to be desired. When I arrived, I stood waiting for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged me — eventually, a woman working in the kitchen greeted me and took my order.
Not long after, another customer walked in and was greeted warmly and immediately by a man sitting down on his phone, which made my own experience feel overlooked and unwelcoming. When I returned to pick up my food, the woman remained pleasant, but the man dressed in all black just stared me up and down without saying a word — no greeting, no thank you, nothing. Ironically, the customer who ordered after me was the one who offered a kind compliment and wished me a nice day.
The food may be worth trying, but first impressions matter — and this one felt uncomfortable and uninviting. I hope the team can improve on their customer service and ensure every guest feels...
