A new ethnic restaurant in Glendale! They say they are a Himalayan restaurant, and I'm kinda ignorant here, but their menu seems Indian to me. They have all the familiar Indian cuisine - curry, tikka masala, naan and samosa.
I was super doped to see the new sign when I was visiting the Pick and Save that shares the same parking lot, but they were so busy that day that I gave up trying to wait and went home. They've been calling me in my sleep though... so I went early evening today, at around 5 (Thursday) and ordered take out. Thankfully they weren't so busy as before, though they already had other pick up orders and two tables full.
All a good sign.
Beef Momo appetizer ($6.50) The menu said "all apps will be served with homemade mint and tamarind chutney" but mom came with a different tomato sauce. I didn't care too much for the sauce, but the momo was solid.
Goat curry ($16.95) They had 4 spice levels - none, medium, hot, and super hot. We ordered hot. It was perfect, for two Koreans who love heat. The curry was delicious. The one reason I'm giving this place a 4 instead of 5 is that the goat meat was too chewy. It might have been better after stewing for another hour or so. Oh, and they also had chunks of fat (same size chunks as the meat) in there, which we picked out and threw out. Not very appetizing.
Lamb Tikka Masala ($16.95) We went with medium heat on this one, and it was really good. I'd even go without any heat next time. This doesn't have to be a spicy dish. It was great creamy and flavorful. The lamb could have been cooked a tad longer imo, but it was better than the goat.
I was taking pictures on my way out and the gals working there were looking at me like I was crazy lol. But I noticed that their business wasn't on Yelp yet and wanted to make sure it got there. We need to support local ethnical places like this! Please keep up the great...
Read moreDon’t let the surrounding strip mall vibe fool you, this little place is a gem! Very understated in appearance, you might pass this place up, but don’t!! The food and service are exceptional! Very casual, sit in or take out. We arrived late afternoon and sat in - by 5:30 it was truly a revolving door of pick up orders and guests sitting for dinner.
Order the Momo platter as an appetizer - it offers you 6 dumplings of beef, chicken and vegetable. It’s a great introduction to the most delicious dumplings! Try the sauce - it isn’t spicy, amazing flavor.
We ordered our favorite Indian dish of lamb vindaloo , naan, and shrimp biryani. Brought steaming and clearly freshly made - they were even incredibly accommodating and suggested that in order for my husband to have the spice strength he liked without me, bursting into flames (I’m the spice wimp in the family!), they could bring a sauce on the side for him to add in as he wished. First time we have ever had a restaurant offer that and it was absolutely brilliant! Delicious!!! at first the naan looked a little thinner than we are used to, but the taste was wonderful.
Service was fast and friendly and extremely accommodating. Easy parking in the free parking lot. We were able to get a seat right away, but we have definitely also put this on our takeout list as well. It’s definitely going on our favorites list as a regular place to sit in or pick up and take home. Can’t wait till we get to go back the next time! Don’t miss...
Read moreWe stopped in to place our order on a Saturday at 6:05pm. It wasn’t too busy inside, but they had a lot of to go orders at this point. The staff was very friendly. They took our order and said about 20-25 minutes.
From the time we placed our order, it was a steady stream of people coming in to either place an order, dine in, or pick up… it was busy! At one point every table that was available was full, and there were 7 of us waiting for to go food. This was not due to lack of effort, the food was coming out constantly and to go orders as well… they were just busy! The staff came around and offered those of us waiting a mango lassi, which was delicious.
The staff did a great job at juggling a busy evening and keeping everyone happy!
We finally got our food at 7… so twice as long as we were told, but again, understandable given just how many people ordered at once!
Everything we ordered was delicious. We did medium spice level, and it was perfect. We got the naan basket, veg pakoras, paneer tikka masala, jalfrezi chicken, Nepali chicken curry, and the fried and steamed veg momo. The Nepali curry was perfectly spicy and delicious! My husband said the jalfrezi chicken was the best he’s had. Paneer tikka masala is our go to dish, and we were not disappointed here either! I’d definitely get it spicy next time, instead of medium.
We will most definitely return! We’re so glad to have a delicious curry restaurant in the...
