Please bear with me on this one... I don't typically write reviews and my family and I have patronized samurai for years now. We do hibachi about once a week, my in-laws eat lunch there at least twice a week and we have celebrated both our daughter one year old birthdays there as well. Needless to say we love the food and most of the waitstaff know us and even hold our young girls (one and two years old). We almost felt like family there until tonight. I made reservations for Mother's Day for 5:30 to eat with my wife, two daughters, and in-laws to celebrate. We were seated at a hibachi table on time as reserved. Then it all went bad. After getting our daughters set up in there high chairs and my mother in law comfortable after a recent back surgery we were approached by the hostess and asked to move to a table in front because a bigger party needed more room. We had no problem relocating until we were up and moving to the front to find there is no table available and we would need to wait until another table that just received there food to finish before we could be re-seated. We are patient people but we have a one and two year old with us and had reservations for Mother's Day and were already seated. I went to speak to the manager who was unsympathetic and said we just need to wait. Mind you we frequent this place so often we were quite surprised to be treated this way. We decided to leave because our girls would not handle a half hour or more wait. I called the manager after leaving and told him my how unhappy we were to be treated this way when we are regulars with reservations. He said "okay, don't care bye bye." We will never return and no one should be treated this way! It's too bad that this is how he runs that business. We were made to feel like we don't matter, that our reservation didn't matter and that he could care less if we return. Ridiculous!!!! Please join us in boycotting this establishment. They don't deserve good people to waste their money there when this is how they treat customers not to mention regulars. Thanks for...
Read moreI have ordered take-out lunch, or dined in for lunch numerous times here. Food: I have only had sushi here; sashimi and maki (and the miso soup). Food is right on point and delicious. The lunch special is a great deal! White tuna sashimi is like melt in your mouth butter amazing. Bottomline is, the food is good and will keep me coming back. Cost: Lunch special is super cheap. Regular prices seem on target with rest, but I have only came for lunch. Take-out: When I've ordered take-out it is always ready on time. And they go the extra mile to seperate the hot soup from the cold sushi; either by placing cardboard between them or putting them in seperate bags. Packaging wise it has never spilt and is easy to transport and easy to take out and eat. 5 stars. Dine-in: Service is kind of slow if you're looking for a quick lunch. The server got my order wrong once (not a big deal). so I pointed out that she gave me an extra roll that I did not order. So, her resolution was to come over to the table in the middle of the dining room with chopsticks and remove the extra roll from my plate. Typically, their mistake, you'd think they'd just leave it. What are they going to do with it anyway now - I hope to goodness not serve it to someone else... Or option 2, she should have at least took my plate back to the kitchen to remove the extra roll, not do it in the middle of the dining room......
Read moreWe made reservations for a group. We were in a good mood as we arrived to celebrate a specoal occasion, but it was obvious after a little while that we were not getting very much attention. There were a couple other large groups and things seemed to be moving very slowly. After a while we realized that they only had one cook working in the entire place on a very busy Saturday night. This is understandable, but it would have been nice to know when they accepted our reservation or once we showed up. We had to wait an hour and a half before the cook arrived at our table, and then he rushed through cooking for us as fast as he could without giving much of a show at all. We've been to other similar restaurants in the past and been treated much better, and had a better meal. They should not have accepted reservations from so many large groups if they did not have the cooks on hand to take care of us. There are enough other great Sushi and Hibachi restaurants in Milwaukee that we probably won't be returning...
