Don Juan's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Glendale

My family and I have been customers of Don Juan's since 2021 and have ordered multiple times. But this last experience today, 01/06/2023, was the last time. Be warned! When we first ordered a triple mixed Fajitas and Chimichangas back in 21', the food was very plentiful and delicious. First impressions are everything and that was what made us come back. We are from Tolleson and come a long ways to pick up our order. But we have dined in once as well. But a second time my wife ordered the Triple mixed fajitas a time back and came home and found out that it was mostly bell peppers in the container and hardly any meat! It ruined my wife's dinner and felt totally unsatisfied! We complained about it and we were told that we would be taken care of on the next time we came out. But I didn't expect much from that and didn't go back after awhile. Now in 2023, we ordered again to give them a chance again. We ordered take out and when I went to inspect our food at the restaurant, because of our experience before, the Chimi had very little lettuce and tomatoes in it. I even asked a worker there is this the normal amount for this plate and the young lady said "Yes". I couldn't believe it because it was never that way before. So I didn't push it and came back home and found out that her and my order did not have our rice and beans included also. SMH! My 8yr old daughter had the two fried tacos and she was not satisfied with her order because it didn't have enough cheese. It definitely did not look like the picture we saw on their Instagram page from yesterday that looked really good with a lot cheese. I had had enough and tried to call the restaurant back to let them know about it but for some reason they were not answering the phone. I'm not the type to complain but this was the last straw and felt ripped off. We will never go back and instead will go with Ponchos in South Phoenix instead which has been in the Valley for years and has never disappointed us! I think either the workers are trained to do this or they're just incompetent in their work...

"Justice Here" This is a small location in downtown Glendale which we we're looking forward on enjoying! While walking in we we're greeted with a smile and asked to sit where ever we liked, seemed like a nice n' friendly environment...

It took them a while to take our order for our drinks n' to serve the complementary chips n' salsa, they only had like 4 other customers besides us. I actually had to ask her for them. While I went to wash my hands, on my return I caught the short girl squatting over in front of my husband asking him if sprite had caffeine in it? My husband responded there's my wife ask her, as she seen me coming I asked her what's going on? She ignored me and walked away. I asked him what happened, he said she wants to know if sprite has caffeine? I told him she should know she works here. She asked the other server to serve us and did not return.

Other than the servers being to overly friendly with the Male's in the restaurant I did notice that their main clientele we're male.

The carne asada street tacos we're not asada but they were ok the meat was a little tough though. They we're not generous with their food at all, it seemed as if when they served the beans they spread them with the spoon on the plate to make it seem if there was alot, the rice was ok but once again it seemed as if it was 1/2 of a serving instead of a whole. We paid 13.95 for my plate and 12.95 for my husbands menudo. We also paid 2.00 each drink making it a total of 5.90 don't ask but no free refills at least not to us, I expected more from Don Juan's restaurant, my husband ordered an extra serving of corn tortillas for his menudo and he never received it!

It is so frustrating that u can't enjoy ur food cause someone is leaning over ur spouse and trying hard to make a tip, which we still left her she asked what the extra money was for? I Said ur tip she...

Unfortunately we didn't get to taste the food. We got to the restaurant seated ourselves, a few minutes pass, three others parties walked in after us (we did not apply walk in at once and the restaurant was not packed) all got thier menu and chips with salsa ordered drinks and we still sit at the table with nothing not even a "hi". After 10 mins of being skipped and ignored we left.

Update: I don't feel you are apologetic at all, just excusing your horrible service towards us. When we walk in no one said anything to us, we seated ourselves and waited patiently for quite sometime. Watched a couple come in a minute after us, they went up to the booth then sat themselves. After, another group came in and sat themselves. While we are still sitting there patiently we saw the couple get their chips and menus. We watched the second group that came is after us get there chips and menus. The waitresses passed by us several times taking menus, chips, salsa, and drinks to the tables that came is after us and said nothing not even a glance. After several minutes of being passed up and basically ignored we got up and left. We were parked outside the restaurant for a few minutes before we decided to come in and only saw one table go in before us. I saw two girls standing at the host booth doing nothing for the first two minutes of us being there. It wasn't until the couple that came after us walked up to the host table did they start moving. The groups did not come in all at once and the restaurant was not packed. It is unfortunate you couldn't assists us as quickly as you respond to Google reviews, you would have never had...
