⭐ Review for Outback Steakhouse
My husband and I decided to go to Outback tonight for a date night to celebrate his recent promotion. I had been craving steak and potatoes, and since it was getting late and we didn’t have any steak at home, we thought it would be a nice way to celebrate together. To start with the positives: our waitress was fantastic — super attentive, kind, and really tried her best to make our experience enjoyable. The bread and butter were fresh, the drinks were great, the salad and soup were tasty, and even the lobster tails were cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were delicious too. Unfortunately, the bone-in ribeye (the main part of our dinner) had to be sent back multiple times. The first time, it came out extremely salty — my husband described it as tasting like a “salt lick” — and even our waitress acknowledged that it was over-seasoned and very charred. We had ordered it medium rare, but when it came back the second time, it was closer to rare/raw. The third attempt was the opposite — well done instead of medium rare. By that point, the excitement over the meal had faded, but our waitress kindly let us keep the steak to take home, which we appreciated. Now, I normally wouldn’t write a review just over a steak being cooked wrong — mistakes happen, and as someone who has worked in restaurants myself, I understand that. The reason I’m writing this review is because of what happened as we were leaving. Another staff member (possibly from the kitchen, though I’m not sure) made a sarcastic comment toward us, saying: “Have the day you deserve.” She repeated it several times, louder and with hand gestures, in a tone that was clearly not meant kindly. It was unprofessional and left us both shocked. We hadn’t been rude, we hadn’t complained beyond sending the steak back, and even our waitress agreed it hadn’t been cooked correctly. After six years together, this was the very first time my husband has ever sent food back, and this experience has left such a sour taste that he says he’ll never return to Outback again. That’s disappointing because we were genuinely trying to enjoy a special night together and celebrate something important. I understand people have bad days, but comments like that to paying customers are unnecessary and unacceptable. Our waitress truly did her best and deserves recognition, but the way the evening ended overshadowed what could have been a great...
Read moreI don't give a lot of 1 star reviews. In this case, my review is based exclusively on the "food," (for lack of a better word).
The service was typical for today, the atmosphere was OK. The "food" was absolute subpar garbage.
Back in the 90's Outback was our "Go-to" steakhouse. In fact, this location at 5605 W Bell. The last 3 or 4 times we went it seemed like the quality had gone south, so we stppoed going. We haven't been to any Outback Steakhouse in probably 20 years.
Last night my daughter wanted steak for dinner. I Googled to see what was in the area we were driving in and this popped up. My wife and I decided, "Let's try it again." It's been a long time. This is where we always went - it'll be fun."
There was only about a 20 minute wait. Everything was "OK." Not WOO-HOO, but not "Let's leave." The waitress was friendly.
Then the food came. It was disgusting. My daughter and I ordered bone-in ribeye - rare. (she's my girl). Is there a grade below USDA Select? They were 25% bone, 40% fat, 10% gristle and 25% tough, stringy, meat - @ $38 each. I ordered a baked potato "fully loaded." It came with butter only. I ordered brussel sprouts as my second side. They didn't come at all - I had to ask. When they finally brought the brussel sprouts out, they were inedible. Tough, burnt, and swimming is some kind of greasy, oily, vinegar substance.
The bill came to $148.69. $178.69 with the tip. It was hard to pay $148 for that garbage. I debated not leaving a tip at all, but it wasn't the waitresses' fault.
Usually when I don't like a restaurant I just say, "Oh well" and we don't go back. I couldn't let this slide. I was pissed. Still am. There's no excuse to serve that kind of garbage and charge people that much for it.
I can tell you it'll be a lot longer than 20 years before we go to...
Read moreThis was my first time to this location. I will not be returning. It has been eons since I have eaten at this establishment. Now, I remember why I didn't like dining here.
I ordered 12 oz ribeye steak well done (it was burnt and completely dried out and flatten), baked potato with butter and green onions (It was way too soft and mushy to the texture, could taste that it was boiled or something), a wedge salad (too saturated with the blue cheese and not sure if the dark sauce was balsamic dressing but I didn't like the taste of it). Since my friend's paid the bill I didn't want to complain about my food.
I am also that person who doesn't like to send food back. I feel sick to my stomach because the entire meal is not sitting well with me. I did it out of respect for my friend's because this was our Christmas dinner together. As a collective, we will not be returning to this establishment. We couldn't say anything about our meal to each other.
Usually, we would be going on and on about how good our meal is tasting. Even tasting each other's dishes. Neither one of us offered our dish to each other. That was not "us" at all.
Service was okay. She appeared then disappeared. My drink was empty for too long and I wasn't pleased with that at all. Eating steak that dried out was hard to swallow it dry.
My friends didn't finish their food either but our statements about the steak was the same. It's a shame to pay such a high price for a steak and receive less than for it.
Overall, we were greeted with a smile and kindness from the hostesses. That helps a lot whenever you are dining out.
Not too happy for this outing. It was a disappointment to me. I am feeling bad that my friend's paid for me. Oh well, it's done and over...
