Taqueria Los Gordos — Restaurant in Glendale

We have lived and worked by this place for years and never checked it out. Boy, do we regret that decision!! The staff are amazing. My mom and husband were curious about spice levels on the meat, and they immediately offered a sample ! This took us by surprise. Very few places are that confident and let try before you buy. The taco shell was not greasy it was super flaky and was the perfect size. I could have just at a ton of those ! It was great to see they put the meat in first for the burrito bowls and salads, and then you let them know how much of what other toppings. It wasn't about restricting and up charging. I'm surprised this place hasn't put the competition across the street out of business. They have a salsa bar and a good amount of indoor seating. The put healthy amounts of items I mean look at the guacamole and extra cheese ! It's super clean as well. If you like spicy, you gotta check out the chicken tinga or my favorite green Chile beef. These have some great heat with enjoyable flavor. My mom is gluten-free and doesn't do spicy and found some items to eat too. She enjoyed the rolled tacos. I'm down to go here for a snack or a meal. Gotta check this place...

I've heard good stuff about this place and wanted to go. I finally stopped in and there food is amazing.

As you can see in the pictures I ordered the vinaigrette tostada. They have some nice little extras you can have them put on. Cilantro and pickled red onion. There were several other things on there which I can't remember but as you can see there was quite the layers on this.

I also ordered the wet carne asada chimichanga. The sauce with that is one that I've never tasted before. It had a nice rich elegant taste to it. Both of what I ordered had many layers of flavor. this is something that would be served at fine dining and it was just a cute little takeout or dine-in place.

And as other reviews that I have read the service there was great. She helped with suggestions of what other people like and that helped me make sure I got maximum flavor. What I would suggest if two people went to order something like a burrito or chimichanga and get yourself some small tacos or tostadas to eat so you get to sample more than one thing there. I'm not sure if you got a wet burrito if that would be the same sauce but that wet chimichanga that sauce...

I was sad to see the previous taco shop had moved out, but was very pleasantly surprised by the new taco shop that took its place, which is awesome.

The guy behind the register was super helpful, had an answer for everything, including the exact ingredients that go into each menu item. He even gave me a sample of the rice when I asked what kind they had.

The rolled potato tacos with carne asada were AMAZING. I kiiiiiind of want to go back tomorrow just to get the exact same thing because they were seriously delicious. They also let me sample different types of meat (most were too spicy for me, but don't let my wimpiness stop anybody from giving them a try), AND they gave my kid a churro on the house because I didn't see churros on the menu, so I told my kid they don't have them. My kid appreciates their method of proving me wrong! 😆

The decor is very lucha libre (I mean, obviously, given the name of the shop) with lots of bright blues. It's a bold theme, and I think it's fun.
