We recently had lunch with friends at the Black Cow Cafe in Montrose, CA, and it was a delightful experience. This cozy eatery boasts a comforting atmosphere that feels like a warm embrace, perfectly complemented by the down-to-earth and friendly folks who populate the place.

We stopped by for lunch after exploring the nearby Descanso Gardens, and the menu presented a fusion of good old American breakfast classics with a dash of Mexican and California flair. The choices ranged from classic Egg Benedict to hearty quesadillas and burritos.

I opted for the Egg Benedict, and I must say it was outstanding. The eggs were perfectly prepared, and the sauce was a symphony of flavors that elevated the dish to another level. The quesadilla, with its tasty chicken filling and crispy tortilla shell, was equally fantastic, making it a must-try.

For those looking for a healthier option, the grilled salmon with fruit salad was a decent choice. While not as remarkable as the Egg Benedict or quesadilla, it still provided a satisfying and lighter alternative.

The service at Black Cow Cafe was commendable. Our waiter was attentive and enthusiastic, adding a personal touch to our dining experience. The restaurant's vibe is cool and inviting, with folksy decorations that create a charming and rustic ambiance.

In summary, Black Cow Cafe in Montrose, CA, offers a delightful combination of comfort food and friendly service. It's a perfect spot to enjoy a scrumptious American breakfast with a twist or savor some Mexican and California-inspired dishes. Whether you're visiting after a trip to Descanso Gardens or simply looking for a cozy meal, this cafe is sure to leave you with a smile and a...

Food was delicious, however the customer service was horrible (a waitress names ANGELA) . I work in a nearby hospital and placed an order for pickup probably 45 mins - 1 hour in advance. When i called i asked if i could order a specific sandwich without the ham (as i don't eat pork) and they said of course. When i arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order (and 5 other peoples' orders) they said ohhh i was going to call but we are so busy!!!!! and we can't actually make that sandwich that way because they are already made and then she walked away and took a customers order and then finally walked back and said did you need to switch that out for something else because its already made? i was shocked at the way she spoke. I ordered a different sandwich and waited an additional 15-20 minutes for the order to be completed. I told the lady i was unhappy with my service and that i should have been contacted well before arriving. her reply??.... oh sorry we get real busy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! this is not the correct answer to keep a customer happy. Her speech, attitude and demeanor was so rude. I think management needs to look at how their employees are handling customer complaints and have a better solution than your busy!! I love the food here but i will definitely be taking a break from the place due to crappy service and so will the office...

First time visiting this place after my Sunday Hike❤️ My family and I chose this place because google search said it had vegan options. Being that I am a vegan we decided to come try it out. Once we were seated we were told by our waitress Martina that they didn't have any vegan options. Instead of leaving I decided to order oatmeal , zucchini bread and aside potatoes. Also for my drink option I ordered cranberry juice with a glass of ice. When Martina came to take our order she seem to be rushing us as if she was too busy. Once our food came it was cold. Oh and by the way I never received my glass of ice for my cranberry juice. When I told Martina that she never gave me my ice and I drink my cranberry juice her response: WHAT DO WANT ME TO DO??? Surprised by her response I didn't know how to respond because I felt that it was very rude. I've worked in customer service for over 30 years and I've never treated my customers or clients with such disrespect. I will never visit this restaurant ever again because of her lack of poor customer service . My experience was not pleasant nor was my family happy with the service. I forgot to mention my side of potatoes came when we were finished eating. For the record the food would have been good if served hot !!! Good customer service is the best quality for...

Bustling brunch spot with classic comfort food options. Came here on a Saturday around 1pm after a trip to Descanso Gardens, as it’s just about mile down the road. There’s 3 hour parking available in the back off the restaurant in a shared lot. Otherwise, you can find limited street parking. There’s outdoor dining current available during covid. There’s benches on the side if you need to wait for a table, but we were seated in less than 5 min (which was great, as they were pretty busy). High chairs are available for There’s a lot of options for food, and there’s a breakfast and lunch menu, along with a separate specials menu. The portions are generous and fresh. I liked how the eggs Benedict was put atop a croissant rather than your typical English muffin, although the eggs were a tad small. They were unfortunately out of cinnamon rolls by the time we got there, but they do have a cornflake crusted French toast for those with a sweet tooth! Credit cards are accepted and the service is very quick/efficient. Overall, it’s a cute neighborhood spot to grab a casual bite.
