This is our go to sushi spot. We go here at least once a month. The other sushi spots are solid, but this is always where we end up coming back to and having the best experience. They treat you like family, and the food is delicious. Prices are reasonable, and well worth it.
Great service. Our server Sarah was prompt, attentive, proactive, thoughtful, and friendly! Tasty sushi. We got salmon nigiri, salmon sashimi, jalapeño salmon roll, and tempura calamari roll; all delicious. We also got the Shumai appetizer - that was not too impactful as compared to the rest. Overall vibe is solid, the outdoor area could use a little tlc/refinement; but clean and down overall. One thing we would was that the outdoor tables were too tall for the chairs; or perhaps the chairs were too low. It made the eating seated position a bit awkward. But overall, great experience, quick service, no wait during prime dinner time. Friendly staff. Some parking on Honolulu, and a few lots south of the Main Street. One note, there is a martial arts school a few doors west of the restaurant, and during class pick-up/drop off it can get a little crowded. We were blocked in our car, which was parked on Honolulu, upon our exit around 8pm. We normally go to Blue Fish across the way. While Blue Fish has a nicer outdoor dining atmosphere, we felt Sake had better value, and portions. And their sushi was just as delicious.
Our favorite dishes:
Salmon nigiri Jalapeño Salmon Roll Jessica Roll (avocado, cucumber, shrimp tempura inside; tuna, salmon, avocado - outside) Garlic Chili Salmon Poke Bowl

Read moreNO wonder why this place has no business and gone down the drain. I am just shocked what this place has become from what it was years ago. I used to come here twice a week today is the last time I will ever step food in this restaurant.
Food is disgusting, we had to complain almost about every plate that was brought to our table, something I never have to do at places like seaweed handroll bar and Hikari! And they make you feel very uncomfortable complaining as if it is your fault the sushi is bad.
I specifically asked the lady server look if the sushi is not fresh just don’t bring it to me because the Spicy Tuna handroll was very dry and the only way it would be like that if it was siting in the container for a very long time. She didn’t acknowledge the warning signs I gave her and she kept bringing what we ordered and I had to send back an awfully smelly stenchy Scallop handroll that reeks from a mile away. I also had to send back two lobster handrolls because it tasted sour! Furthermore, no sauce and the lobster was cold! On top of all this I found a dead fly on one of my plates that was the end of my experience (see attached) I asked for the check and told her you can even charge me for the plate that had the fly I just want to get out of here. Anyways she comes back and sure does charge me for the plate with fly in it. This is coming from an avid frequent sushi eater, if you guys want a sushi place where it won’t get you seriously sick do not eat here. This place proves its carelessness towards their customers health and well-being by serving rotten fish that can make you end up in the hospital.
This place will not survive like this and I can now understand why they no longer have the business they used to years ago with the...
Read moreI sit here with a blanket over my head hurt... Yes I am hurt by my favorite sushi restaurant Sake Montrose. I am a frequent guest, I have always spent big money here partly because this place is not cheap and affordable and yes I do tip and tip well; have received mediocre service, 2 poorly prepared dishes of seared Ahi dishes, one with tendons throughout barely edible and it was the second order because the first order was again poorly prepared and way overly drenched in some kind of chili sauce. The seared Ahi is my go to dish here at Sake Montrose I Always order it so I know exactly what it is and how it is prepared. Once we finally got the attention after several minutes and attempts finally recognized by a very casual non-uniformed employee he put in the second with no chili sauce which took over 20 minutes to arrive, we were already wanting to leave by the time the casual non-uniformed employee realized we were ready to leave and asking for a refund of the undelivered dish didn't seem like an option for this casual non-uniformed employee. Amongst all this I also was brought a poorly prepared salmon carpaccio that wasn't fresh, crazy fishy taste...and yes! I have persistent ¡!DIARRHEA¡!... An Absolute bummer. ¿Why Sake Montrose? ¿Why did you have to rear this side of you? I have heard of poor cuts before, but tonight I bear witness and am sick. Sake Montrose this 1 star is for you accept it and please improve, until then I am taking a break from you. Tonight you...
