De'Mantra BBQ, Burgers, Eclectic Eats — Restaurant in Goldsboro

This was such a disappointment. I will continue to drive to Raleigh after this experience. When walking in the restaurant it smelled like boiled eggs and sewage, not a pleasant 1st impression. Customer service was nothing special, she said hello but no smile, no small tall or “how are you?”. The worst part is that the food was no good. The curry sauce tasted like canned ravioli, not fresh, and the complexity of flavors and spices that make Indian food such a joy was completely undetectable. Even the rice was crispy and stuck together like they scraped it from the bottom of the pot. They had just opened for the day too so I’m not sure what the excuse would be for this subpar level of food. First off let me start out by saying the nearest Indian restaurant to Goldsboro before this place was in Smithfield. It feels amazing that I don’t have to drive 45 minutes for good Indian food anymore. I asked for tikka masala which is not on the menu yet but they made it for me anyway and let me tell you the curry was fragrant and tasty. The portion sizes were good where as other Indian restaurants give you less and charge you more. The price was fair for the quality. The inside of the restaurant was awesome and very decorative. The service was great and I do believe that was the owner at the counter. He was very friendly. Overall 10/10 and I’m almost in tears that I don’t have to drive 45 minutes for good curry anymore. Ordered food from here several times. More so when they first opened. Now they are trying to serve tacos and burgers and other food trying to be something they are not. I gave the food 3 stars cause its definitely going downhill. The first table i tried to sit at was dirty and was still dirty when i was finished eating. This will probably be the last time i eat there. $27 for one person is crazy cause the price does not match the quality. Stick with what you know and stop trying to sell burgers and tacos cause ur indian food is going downhill for sure. Guy at register was very nice tho, service was good but the food wasnt good enough to keep me as a customer....
