Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries — Restaurant in Goldsboro

I usually don’t write reviews but I was compelled to do so after tonight’s experience. I visited the Wayne memorial location tonight next to Carlie C’s…Andy’s/Hwy 55 was always one of my favorite restaurants to eat at as I grew up in Goldsboro. I currently live in Cuba so anytime I’m in town I stop by. I sat at the bar and observed the cooks not using gloves, touching everything and wiping their hands in their aprons/ pants even touching their face then proceeding to pick up the buns and meat without not once washing their hands. I called my waitress over discreetly to ask if the cooks wore gloves, she then said no…at the same time a platinum haired young waitress butted in the conversation and said no they’ve never worn gloves and nowhere in NC that’s she eaten at requires gloves because it’s difficult for the cooks to handle the food and it causes cross contamination. I explained to her that I’ve worked in hospitality/restaurants in NC before and that’s not true! Cross contamination can be spread without using gloves as well. Then she says we’ll if u want I’ll tell them to use gloves for your food. I was appalled at her response and the fact that she wanted to debate with me as well as the fact that the establishment isn’t following any Covid 19 protocols at keeping the community safe! Although the rating is 95, That is very unsanitary. After tonight I will not be returning to any HWY 55 now that I know u all do not care how food is handled and is not following safety or cleanliness standards. Mgmt should really take this matter into consideration and offer some sort of training reinforcement...

10/21/22- tried the philly steak sandwich tonight. Absolute hands down the BOMB!! Once again everything was tos! Serve, food , cleanliness- you all work hard and it shows, KUDOS to all!! 10/11/22- Can't find a way to write another review, so, I'll add to this one. Had lunch there today. Walked I'm and they remembered me from last visit. AWESOME!! Bacon C/C dogs and tatter tots. Food, service, price all EXCELLENT. another knock out of park! KUDOS to all! Until nxt time. STAY HUNGRY MY FRIENDS!! 9/13/22- Today tried newly remodeled location. Had the BB chicken sandwich and a chili cheese dog. The staff were super friendly and the food was hot ,fresh and right the first time. Plus the French fries were done perfectly. Kudos to all! Only down size... didn't leave room for a dessert. So I usually do not do reviews but this Young lady needs some kind of recognition. When I walked in the place was completely full. There was one girl working take out and phone. To say this girl was hustling is an understatement. The only time I see people work like that is at BnG grill. I want to say her name is Scarlett and I hope I'm correct. To be more specific she has long brown hair, tattoos on her arms and a nose ring. Her face was red from working so hard. I just wanted to say I appreciate your exceptional customer service. She was fast, professional, and even with a line our the door she still made it a point to ask if we required any condiments.
