If you are a corporate traveler, DO NOT STAY HERE!
Last night I arrived at the Days Inn in Goldsboro. They DO NOT work well with corporate travelers. I work with a Dealer Services company that provides management staffing for Automotive retailers. We travel all over the southeast working with dealers. This is the first time we have had a hotel turn us away because we booked with a corporate card.
To fully explain. Our team travels randomly, so our corporate team pays for all our hotels. Their first response to this was that someone faxes a credit card and ID to them. I was checking in at 7 pm at night. Who is sitting with a fax machine at 8 pm? I told them normally this is handled via email and offered to put them in direct contact with the CEO. This location wanted our CEO to send his Credit Card and ID to the personal email of the night clerk. Supposedly their system would not allow them to send a third party form via email. The night clerk was willing to accommodate but was understandably uncomfortable with the requested task. We were even more concerned that someone on the Days Inn Management team thought that was an acceptable practice. Sending our Corporate credit card and the ID of a staff member to a personal account? NO ONE DOES THAT.
So at 7:25 PM. The only hotel with an available non-smoking room in town turned me away. I never expected the response of the manager telling her night clerk to tell the customer to go somewhere else. I have stayed at 100's of hotels across the southeast. I have never been turned away. As I looked around the lobby I noticed the signage that even BANS THE RESIDENTS OF GOLDSBORO, NC from even visiting the hotel.
That's when I recognized that this hotel does not care about its guests, the city it does business in or proper business practices. The obvious discrimination against the predominantly black town of Goldsboro, NC is telling. The manager was so concerned about her TV show at home that she was willing to make me drive 30 minutes to another hotel who simply emailed the third party form to our CEO and checked me into my room in 15 minutes.
DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH DAYS INN OF GOLDSBORO. THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST HOTEL IN...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, I hate to be negative but just trying to make an honest review. We stayed two nights unfortunately, as soon as you get out of your car the smell of weed all the way to your room is so strong it could knock you out of your shoes. It did not go away the whole time we stayed our family had 3 rooms and my brother had young kids the smell was so strong it smelled in our rooms to the point the kids started to get sick on their stomachs and would have to go outside with their mom to get away from it a little. The breakfast was ok but didn't have very much and ran out fast like 20 min. Their was a lot of little things that are Normal hotel things that need to be better but just complaining about the big things. We had 3 people in our room and they came and "cleaned" which involved making the beds, no trashed emptied, no toilet paper,no towels or wash cloths. We went to front desk to try and get towels and wash cloths they told us they didn't have any and to come back later that day. We came back that night and were denied until we brought our dirty ones to the front desk, so we did and they gave us 2 towels and a wash cloth for 3 people. We never had to bring our dirty towels to a front desk so lazy service and the man and woman at the front desk were rude and did not want to be bothered for anything except taking your money. The last night there was a hug fight outside that lasted for a hr around 4am it woke everyone up and I was just waiting for gun shots to happen but thankfully it didn't. We were going to call the police but knew they have cameras so we complained the next morning but no one cared. So all in all I think they should charge more to make things nicer if that's what it takes and move the riff Raff out or corp. Needs to shut it down worst place I've ever stayed at( after the first night my other brother and my sister left and drove 3.5hrs back home so they didn't have to stay there another night we should have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReceptionist was very pleasant the night I got there. however, the room she gave us was not - the toilet was broken and I found a cockroach so she moved us out to another room and overall the carpet was very dirty in both rooms and very worn, more so in the second room and I found a dead cockroach so I think Wyndham needs to put some money into these rooms and make them more hospitable. Also the phone was not connected in the second room to even dial the operator or the desk. The lobby was very pleasant and a fairly decent breakfast. Coffee was good actually most places coffee is not, and grateful Hotel provided real cream - half and half. The waffle was excellent. And The breakfast Hostess was very friendly at first but as soon as the time to close came and I had had to ask her for a couple extra things I could tell she felt annoyed and wished I hadn't asked her for anything beyond the time the doors were supposed to be open. I did my utmost to be as gracious and pleasant and friendly because I know staff in those positions are not paid very well. And convenient location. After I was moved to the second room I did have to call the front desk to alert her to call security because someone was banging on a door just a few doors down from me, trying to kick it in and cursing to beat the band at somebody inside the room and I was concerned there could could have been a gun because the word was mentioned. And so Public Safety did come around but I don't know whether they ever talk to anybody. Also I was very concerned and disappointed that the price of the room had changed from the time I started to make a reservation which was a competitive price with another motel just up the road where I had made my original reservation although they didn't have the breakfast but the room rate was the same and then when I went to finalize my reservation the rate had gone up like $ 30 total for two nights stay...
