I had much respect for this establishment. But on our last visit, they required that I provide them with a printed copy of my daughter's service dog certificate that they could keep on file or we had to leave the establishment. I was baffled as it was not lawful. But she said that they do not follow the Federal ADA guidelines they follow fda and the state of NC regulations and that I had to produce a printed copy. Even tho federal regulations only allow them to ask 3 questions is it a service dog, and if yes, what service does he provide. I wanted to be reasonable in this circumstance because medically, my daughter was having a great day, and we were perusing wedding cake books because I wanted them to do the cake for my parents' upcoming 50th anniversary. I didn't want my daughter to start experiencing any stress and trigger medical issues as she has a brain disorder. I offered to show his certificates from my email where I had emailed them to her school, but they refused, saying he needed to be left in the car if we stayed. That is not legal or safe for the dog, but more importantly... it defeats the purpose of her having a dog to assist her. I asked her how the dog was supposed to assist her from the car in the parking lot? She was adamant that we could not stay with him and put us out. The dog did in no way misbehave act aggressive or anything he stuck to her side as he is trained to do. It's so sad that in this day and time, people choose to blatantly disregard laws and embarrass children based on their discriminatory practices against people with disabilities. I started a formal complaint with the ADA and will follow it up to the letter. I call for all people with service animals or disabilities to refrain from patronizing this place as it no longer carries the standards they started with and have no problem discriminating against...
Read moreI ordered a carrot cake from Mickey’s and got back what they call is a carrot cake but what I would not have thought was one, not the brown with cinnamon but just a white with little bit of shredded carrots in it that did not taste like a carrot cake and when I cut it it turned to crumbs . When picking up the cake after I got off work I was rushed by the customer service to get it when I was looking at other pastries. It was like I was doing her a favor to get out fast. I also got a gingerbread man and my daughter got a brownie and both did not taste good. My daughter and I each had a slice of the so called carrot cake but could not finish it and both of us gave half our slice to the dog because it did not taste good. I called the next day and talked to the owner who said that many people love her carrot cake and as for being crummy, meaning that it crumbled when I cut it, she said I should’ve kept it cold before cutting it, not that anyone told me. She did not want to refund the money because she thought in order to, she wanted the whole cake back which was ridiculous. Apparently the owner doesn’t want to satisfy the customer. Won’t be going back. I was forced to give it a star but if I had my way it...
Read moreNormally not the one to post reviews but the experience I’ve had with this company was just off the charts horrible. I called and asked what cakes were readily available for purchase and I was quoted cake sizes and prices. I was told to come up to the business and pay and then I could get the writing out on the cake. I drive to the business (that is 20 minutes out from my house) to find no cakes out and was greeted with a very rude attitude from the lady I spoke with over the phone. When I quoted her back on what I was told all I got was “well they will be put out at 1:30”. Then I asked the pay in advance and was rudely told no, when I came to pick up I would pay and get everything done then. Not upset on how the business is ran but am very disappointed with the miscommunication, wasted time and lack of apology from the staff that I received. Gave them a two star only because the cakes are better than some other...
