Well, the food was good, but everything else is basically a mess. Apparently, there is a hidden area on the right side wall for a line to form. No signage at all. Then we got to the front and were greeted by a bunch of people behind a really high wall sort of staring at you and not saying anything. We're staring at them, they are staring at us... After a while, one of them decided to ask what we would like. We asked what the difference was between the pork rib plate and the 1 meat plate with pork rib. None of them knew and had to ask someone else. Apparently, the port rib plate has a half-rack of ribs and the other one has "less" but no one knew how much less.
Basically, the entire ordering and paying process seemed to be run by people who all seemed lost and completely without direction. The person taking our money was just standing there with most of our food sitting in front of us and just looking off into space. She seemed to wake up when I mentioned that one of our sides was missing... and we'd like to pay as well.
They all wear gloves, which is nice. Unfortunately, they don't seem to understand why there are wearing gloves. We watched the same guy who had been putting orders together walk over and try to figure out why the soda dispenser was not working. Then he walked over and noticed the garbage was getting full. He proceeded to PUSH the garbage down into the can with his hand, and then walk back over and start touching the selection screen on the soda machine. Yes, all with the same gloves on. Touching food to touching garbage to touching the same screen that you touch when you select a soda. Nice. Another employee walked out from the food prep area to refill and enjoy his drink before returning to the food prep area... all while wearing the same gloves.
We honestly thought that they just opened a few days ago and were all still getting the hang of it. Then I saw a review that was 2 months old. Nobody there seemed to have any idea what they were doing or really seemed to take anything seriously. Lots of smiling and giggling followed by more blank stares. It truly looked like a high school play with a bunch of people pretending to be working at a restaurant. At least they had chicken and turkey, unlike the Dickey's we tried on the east...
Read moreI normally don't do reviews, but I felt compelled to do one for my visit today after my experience.
I walked in this evening and noticed that there was no one in the restaurant during dinnertime. First red flag. I ordered, and the cashier was initially friendly until it was time for the payment. It asks for a tip for service. I didn't provide a tip and immediately noticed a change in the cashier's demeanor. She gave me my receipt, and I noticed I was charged a $0.39 fee for "Renew and Recycle Program." She looked at my receipt before she gave it to me and it was clear that she was looking to see if I provided a tip. She quickly gave me the receipt and started working with the next customer, visibly appearing irritated.
I went to fill up my Dickies cup and there was a sewage smell. It looked like it was coming from under the drink dispenser. I could see that there was something leaking and a brown sludge collecting underneath. Second red flag. When I grabbed the lid, I could see that it had not been restocked for quite some time. Lids were laying across the counter area, there were barely any straws left and it looked neglected. Third red flag.
I waited for my two sandwiches near the cashier. The young man making the sandwiches said, "The sandwiches are ready," and exchanged a guilty-looking glance with the cashier. They saw that I caught the glance and she gave me my bag. I had a bad gut feeling when she gave me the bag, feeling like they had messed with my food in some way. She looked nervously at me when she gave me my bag. Fourth red flag.
I sat in the parking lot and debated returning my food, but ended up taking it home and nuking it in the air fryer. The sandwiches looked absolutely pitiful for how expensive they were. I regret getting food from them instead of walking next door to Firehouse.
Please do yourself, your wallet (and your stomach) a favor, and don't buy from here. You can see from the recent reviews that most reviews are 1...

Hands down, the highest quality Dickey’s Barbeque Pit experience!!! I happened upon this Dickey’s location on a Thursday this month for an early dinner. I ordered my usual custom sandwich which includes the delicious brisket combined with a la carte grilled chicken added to it! I was very pleased with the staff’s ability to accommodate my menu desires. In addition to my mouthwatering sandwich, their new sauce (the “Atomic Sauce”) was available at this location! I happily added that on to my meal along with a side and a fountain drink.
It wasn’t just the food that made this Dickey’s experience commendable. The manager/boss on the job there (his name was Kendall) showed a high level of hospitality which I will explain.
After knowledgeably answering my questions about the brisket, Kendall maintained focused eye contact, was verbally polite and appreciative in the ordering process. This was followed by the immediate creation of my FAV MEAL by a different staff member there that evening (her name was Krysta). The sandwhich was made quickly, but with care. Krysta made sure that the sandwhich was presented aesthetically and accurately- TWO THUMBS UP!!!
The manager walked my completed sandwhich and side to the table I was sitting at and left me with a smile! The meal left me feeling: full, satisfied, and excitedly anticipating my next visit to this Dickey’s location. Last note: the employees both warmly greeted me as I entered- which I found very welcoming and personable. Not every restaurant’s can say their staff genuinely greets their customers- but this one can!!
In summary, it was an ordinary day with extraordinary service and food experience! If you havent visited this Dickey’s Barbeque Pit in Goodyear on Estrella Pkwy, I’d highly recommend visiting atleast once.
