The things that keep this place going are decent prices and great location. The only good service you will ever get here will be from the sushi chefs. I've been there four times in five months. One time, we were told it would be a ten minute wait. Fifteen minutes later, I asked if we were close to being sat. The hosts said, "Oh, I forgot, it'll be about fifteen minutes." We waited because it was my son's birthday. Service was so slow. Sushi was fine. The next time, just two of us, we sat at the sushi bar. The chef was great. Our server barely acknowledged us. I was asked for a drink order after I had already eaten two rolls. We ordered water, he brought one. We asked for napkins. He brought one. At the end of it all, he looks at me and says, "I'm just going to ring in your beer, the rest is on me." I guess he thinks it's fine to steal from the company instead of telling his manager he messed up. Next time, afternoon. We sat at the bar. The bartender finally came over about ten minutes after sitting. Gave me a beer, asked if I want any food. I said in a little bit. She came back after my beer was empty for a few minutes. I left. But the location is great.
Edit: went today. Sat at the bar and ordered a beer. The bartender sat the beer and menu(a happy hour menu, which we tried to order from and she said it's not happy hour yet, so I don't know why that's the menu she chose.) down then started to walk away... I asked to order food. Really simple, a California roll and spicy tuna roll. Our food was delivered. Never once did Danira check on us. My spicy tuna roll was a tuna roll, which is actually quite different. After waiting about twelve minutes for her to come back, I got up and found her, chatting with other staff. I told her about the mistake. She came over and grabbed my plate of (now eaten) California roll and tuna roll. About five minutes later, she delivers the spicy tuna roll, no talking, and left. I really wanted wasabi, which she took with the other plate. No wasabi on the plate with the spicy tuna. Which, maybe it didn't come with- but who knows? Once my two friends' beers had been empty for at least ten minutes, I got up AGAIN to find my bartender. She was sitting at a tepanyaki table on her phone. I asked her if we could get refills and my check. She comes over to the bar and says, "another blue moon?" I answer, "No, check, please." She serves my friends (finally) and then starts clearing plates from the bar (as slow as humanly possible). I say again, "can I get my check?" and she says, "Oh,yeah" Finally got my check. Sushi was good. Danira obviously should quit and give her position to somebody that...
Read moreHayashi Hibachi - not even close in comparison to the reputable Benihana establishments - however it is the only place of its kind in the West Valley. So take that as you will. We ate here last week and thought it would be fairly good due to the traffic we usually see coming in and out of it in the evenings. We arrived for an early dinner around 5pm and there were only about 20 people inside - if that. We were sat with a family at one of the hibachi grills. While we waited for our chef to arrive we couldn't help but notice how dark it was, while also being really quiet and awkward. When our chef showed up he immediately started to put on a great show. The family we were sat with were celebrating a birthday so the chef did his best to involve the birthday boy in his act. Although he did a great job in making us laugh and smile he actually ended up burning everything and added so much salt to each item that we actually walked out of the restaurant with a headache afterwards. And personally I love salt - I crave it - but even this was much too much! Our rice not only smelled burnt coming off the grill but was burnt - and was packed with salt. As he made the veggies in the corner he added more salt to them too. When we started cooking the main meats and fish we noticed him shaking salt on them - MULTIPLE TIMES - throughout his performance. Again, the chef himself was great but his cooking was inedible. When he left my husband and I couldn't help but notice the family across from us picking at their food. They were not happy with its quality or the taste - but of course we all felt bad because this older gentleman just put on a whole show for our entertainment and no one wants to be the bad guy and say "we can't eat any of this". My husband and I chugged at least 4-5 sodas each while we were there. I ate all my scallops and picked at my salmon but about 10 min in I had to call it quits. I was getting sick and the soda wasn't helping. My husband left a majority of his steak pieces and all his rice on the plate. He just couldn't do it either. The sushi we ordered was the only lifesaver - it had no salt, the white rice was plain, and the veggies were great (and plain). They saved our palates. Overall it was barely ok. Not worth the prices in our opinion. Sad to experience considering there is no other hibachi place anywhere...
Read moreDo not go here! Was quoted an hour and a half wait. The hostess took our name and number, we told him since it was that long we're gonna step to stores near by (walking distance) since it's in the same plaza, he said "okay" we will call you. After almost 2 hours fly by we go and ask the hostess it's been 2 hours you guys haven't called us. He has was so full of excuses you could write a list. First he said we called you but you never answered not true. Never received a call, he insinuated that he called us "3 times". After he was like did you leave a number when he was literally the one who took it down. He then started getting weird and acting like he never seen us in his life that he wasn't the one who took it down. He had a smirk on his face the whole time also like it was a joke. We asked him to get the manager he said okay. Came back said he is grilling he is busy it will be awhile. Basically avoiding getting one. Next another employee comes over a short little ugly guy. Acts like he is helping us, but was just agreeing with the other employee. he even asked him did you take their number and he straight up lied and said no to the other employees face even though they have cameras. So both of them started getting hostile and rude. Making a mockery of the whole situation. After time flew by a third employee went to get a manager some down syndrome looking Asian. The guy was just as disrespectful, didn't apologize. Backed up his employees even though they were in the wrong. We were even cordial and polite until they upset us. chose just to leave since all them were so unprofessional. The short little one even was outside as were leaving looking for some type of confrontation. Said he was gonna run back inside to get his backpack. What kind of establishment are they running. Also to the girl who had something to say as we were walking out. Have the balls to say it to someone's face. Real class act this establishment. If you don't believe me, read the negative...
