Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom — Restaurant in Goodyear

We were very excited to try this place and great pizza is super hard to find out here.

My wife was most excited for the deep dish as she is a crust lover! Unfortunately, they were out. Apparently the dough is made the previous day and they make a limited quantity for weekdays because they don't expect to be as busy. (Understandable)

The kitchen agreed to make the pizza she wanted as a deep dish, with the OC Thick Crust. It had Texas Chili on it as an ingredient. About 15 minutes after ordering, we were informed that they did not have any of said chili and that they couldn't make that pizza. (Unfortunate)

We also ordered the spicy fried pickles, with Thai chili sauce and ranch. When they came out we were informed that they also were out of Thai chili sauce. (Ugh) Also, the "spicy" pickles did not have much spice at all.

All in all, the food tasted above average for local pizza places, so we were happy about that. The manager offered us a free starter (with 5.00 minimum purchase) on our next visit to compensate for the issues. (I'd have comped something on the meal, probably the pizza that we took because all of our other choices were out of stock). Honestly I'd be reluctant to go back solely based on the lack of availability on regular menu items. Hopefully your experience is better than ours.

The food was excellent, tasted great but the service was terrible. Gave this place a try for the first time and we waited just over an hour for our food. Turns out the order never got put in or had a mistake. No problem, I am understanding it was busy and its a new restaurant. Our server however was oblivious to the fact that our food never came and tried to give us our bill and only then realized we had not had our food.

Once the food came out it was served by a manager and then we got an apology from I assume the GM which was appreciated. The manager who gave us the food asked if we needed anything else and we ordered more drinks that never arrived. No one came to us for the rest of our meal until they asked us if we were ready to pay after eating. We felt ignored.

What made it worse is the table next to us clearly had 2 employees (off work) or some kind of friends because both our server and the manager stopped at their table several times to chat with them and talk about business. They even took another drink order from them which they got within 5 minutes of ordering. That is unacceptable. We were very friendly and never got rude so I do not understand why we were ignored like that. I have never had service as bad as that and it will be hard to give it a...

Finally had the time to try this place. Arrived and the parking lot was packed as usual. Walked in and put our name on the waiting list and was told about a 30 minute wait. There were some empty seats around the bar so we sat there until our table was ready. The bartender greeted us right away and was very pleasant. Sat at the bar for almost an hour and still no sign of our table being ready so decided to check. The host said they were going to seat us a while ago but they misunderstood and thought we were going to eat at the bar. We let them know we still wanted a table and they sat us right away. Waited a while for the server and we were extremely hungry by this point. Once the server finally came over we asked a few questions about the menu and placed our order. The food took forever to come out, but the wait was totally worth it. The food was delicious. We ordered a large pizza and the keg order of wings (20 wings). The wings were huge not the tiny ones you get at some places. We ordered the sauce on the side so we could try all of the sauce flavors. They were all amazing especially the applewood bbq.
