We have been here many times over the past years - both back when we lived in Goodyear, and when back visiting family in the area. It is one of our 'go to' places.
We started going primarily to try the various beer offerings, and have not been disappointed - ever. I always order the the Clan-Destine Scottish Ale but my wife and our adult children (and beer aficionados) have tried many of the various offerings, and have complimented all of them. So for that alone I'd give them 5-stars.
The food can be very good to okay - kinda depends on the items (and the day I think) - therefore the 4-star review.
The wife always orders her Brewers' Nachos - and loves them. Me and 'the kids,' as well as a couple of our relatives we've taken there, have tried many of the dishes.
None have stood out as superb food; some better than others. The Bison Burger, The Trible B and the SMBC Cheeseburger were all good. It is bar food after all. The Reuben and the pizza were decent; not sure the fish taco was anything special.
I've noted many of the reviews comment on (or complain) about the wait time. We've had to wait on occasion for an extended period - sometimes dependent on whether you want to sit inside (in August in Phoenix - Really??) or outside on the patio (they have misters which makes it more tolerable when it's not too outrageously hot).
Always have gotten a decent estimated wait time, and those estimates clearly were dependent on the day/time we got there.
This is a very popular place and if you expect a short wait time on a Friday or Saturday prime dinner time arrival - you need to check your reality. They do their best from what we've seen, but there will always be some people who decide to take their time after eating and hang out for one person in the party to finish their beer. It happens.
Never had a bad wait person. and they bring the drinks and food out as soon as they're ready. So, yes, a continuing 'go to' spot for us whenever we're...
Read moreNot going back again... to bad, because I've been going here since they had their opening day. 2 stars only because the canned beer is still not bad.
October 2025 well. It hasn't gotten better. It's worse. Food is definitely not what it used to be. 1 star and doesn't deserve that. Prices have gone up, portions smaller and still tastes bad. They still have on the menu the green chile nachos. The chips were burnt, greasy, over salted and then they put the green chile on top and let it sit. It came out cold and chips soggy. My friend had the fish and chips and they were like frozen globs that were so fried they were also burnt. The drinks were weak, the glasses looked dirty and had something on the inside of them that looked like food remnants. Lets just say we didn't finish eating and didn't drink more than a few sips. 2 star for service because they gave us partial credit for the food we didn't eat, not because the server was any good at her job. 2 star for atmosphere only because their patio is nice when its clean and cool outside.
So sad for my experience tonight. The food was bad. So bad. 18.00 for a pizza that a frozen pizza from the store is better. Only chicken nachos not the regular green pork nachos. The glasses were brought out with yucky finger prints all over them. We waited at least 45 minutes for the food to come out. 15 to 20 minutes for drinks to come out. The servers were friendly and apologized several times for being short staffed and short on supplies. But at least try to get drinks out clean and in a timely manner and the food decent. Really disappointed. At least the beer is still great.
2023 Long wait but to be expected on St Patrick day. Beer and drinks are always awesome. Food was really good too. Nice place to go hang out and drink some beer or other drinks with friends. They have their own brew house and award winning specialty beers. Employees are always nice and consistently...
Read moreOn 3/29/21 I made my second visit to the brewery. My friend had her heart set on Strawberry beer & the SMBC Brewer's Board. The board is $22 & is described as "artisanal cheese & meats, olives, ale mustard, fruits & nuts, pesto hummus, crostini, cucumber & veggies." We also ordered fried chicken sliders. When our food arrived there was a single Baby Bell size piece of cheese & no nuts. We inquired with our waitress why this was. She let the manager know & he brought us a plate of other non-artisanal cheese & proceeded to tell us that there were issues with their supply chain. While we could understand that problem we didn't feel that what we received was worth $22. So we provided feedback to our waitress--not for a discount, but to maybe rethink offering something that they couldn't totally deliver on at this time. My friend had ordered the board before & it wasn't like what we received. The manager brought the check having removed the board from the bill. In addition, he proceeded to tell me that "maybe the brewery wasn't the place for me since I was so unhappy." I told him the chicken sliders were delightful & his reply was "I am glad we could provide you with something you were happy with." I have NEVER been treated so poorly at a place that I choose to give my money to. We would have paid the original bill since we ate the food & did not expect a discount. Apparently it is not ok to let a business know they are not providing what they advertise. I can tell you that I will not drive 20 mins again to visit...
