First time eating in this place. Only one word can really describe it: HORRIBLE.
I want to start with how the food is so bland. I had the menudo, Kare kare, and dinuguan. The broth was so thin, and lacked some ingredients. The kare kare was EXACTLY like the menudo except for the meat. Literally cooked the same base, but changed the meat. And the dinuguan was greasy! I can see the oil separating from the food. I also tried their pancit and it was terrible. Bland, dry, and oily. I even took a picture of how small that portion is. For 7$, that's what you get. I also tried the fried rice and it is the WORST fried rice I've ever purchased. It's literally just white rice with soy sauce and oil drizzled on it. No vegetables or meat in it. I tried their lumpia. Even my husband was disappointed. His first bite and he says "it tastes off.. like plastic." Even my 2 year old wouldn't eat it.... I'm so disappointed. Second, I want to say how the food is really overpriced. Small portions for such an expensive AWFUL- tasting food!
When you first come in the store, you don't even see any pictures of the food, nor is the food displayed on front of you, like how it normally is in other Filipino restaurants. It's like they're hiding something in how they prepare their food. So really, you don't know what to expect when you get the food.
I'm born and raised from the Philippines and experienced MANY Filipino food here in the states. This is by far my worst experience when it came to...
Read more5/31/25 review: Updating my previous review from last year to 5 stars. My mother still loves their palabok and there is enough sauce on her dishes to date now! Whilst she get her palabok, I have also been ordering dishes. My faves are; pork caldareta :P! filipino bbq and another fave is lechon kawali! I recommend Lumpia House’s lechon over Mei Thai’s. Mei Thai in summervilles lechon isnt as crunchy and they dont cut the pork belly chunkz as small enough so they are more soft and not as crispy as the smaller yet still hearty chunks Lumpia House does. I also enjoy eating my pork caldareta with Tito Al’s salt in vinegar chicharrones (also sold at Lumpia House, if they are in stock). If Tito Al’s isnt available a good of fashion bag of Lays Baken-ets will do.
7/12/24 review: My 81 year old mother has been coming here for here for a couple years. At the beginning they served her well, after her being a frequent customer, shes had to come back asking for more sauce on her palabok. At this point we feel they are taking advantage of her age at times. If this establishment really cared for their community they wouldnt shortchange on how true filipino dishes should be served. Theres no reason my mother, at her age should go back to this place and ask...
Read moreTried this place for the first time today and it is not bad. I think I like their lumpia better than Lola's but not as much as Lam's Garden. They are flaky, crisp, and well-prepared, but not as flavorful as Lam's.
The Chicken Adobo was very tender and yummy. The flavor was more subtle than I anticipated, but it was a nice mild dish.
The pork sticks were a little tough and overcooked, but the char and the glaze was delicious. The shrimp were fresh and light, but again didn't have a lot of flavor.
The Boba tea is just as you would expect, with nice springy Boba. The Turon dessert could benefit from a warm caramel sauce or something, I ended up drizzling a little Carolina Reaper Jalapeño Peach sauce on them, which helped to...
