My experience was quite mediocre. I went there for my lunch break from USM. Its very established for regulars, but may be difficult for people not from the area. The food quality is great and the lady making my sandwich was very nice --the main redeeming quality of this establishment.
The issues I had was ordering. I looked at the order here section so I stood at the order counter for quite some time. The man did not acknowledge me and when he finally did he just stared at me with a disappointed look. It is important to note that I was the only one here. There was a few teenagers and a mother waiting at the other counter for their order. After my order, he just continued to stare until I said, "thats it". After I was all set I went to pay at the pay counter but there was no organize line. There were teens just standing in the way who already ordered. I couldn't tell if they were in line or not. I just took the initiative to go up to the cashier. After I paid and waited, I realized I needed a bag for the chips and drink I purchased. I noticed there were many regulars. Cashier was having a conversation with one after completing my order and she offered him a bag.
The woman who made my sandwich offered me a bag, which made me feel much better. But I do wish that at the beginning, I was asked if I wanted a small or large. I forgot to mention that to the man who defaulted my sandwich to a large.
In the end, it was during the lunch rush so that is something I take into consideration. There were many phone and online orders from...
Read moreMy husband and I had the worst experience this evening at the Gorham Amatos. We ordered sandwhiches through DoorDash (clearly a partnership they don’t support), when we got our sandwhiches, they were made completely wrong. I ordered a loaded steak and cheese that came with nothing but meat and cheese while my husband ordered a steak and cheese with only onion and pepper, but he received it with mushrooms. When I called to remedy the situated, the gentlemen, Zack, wouldn’t allow me to speak and told me he couldn’t help me even after I offered to drive down and pick up new sandwhiches and give them the old ones back in good faith. Zack hung up on me the first time, so I called back asking for a manager and he said he was the managers nephew. He then proceeded to cut me off again and before I could get another word in, he hung up on me again. At this point, we feel helpless and out $50. We will be going through DoorDash to follow the preferred protocol, however I have called corporate and I hope we can come to an agreement. Its extremely frustrating that we chose to order out to make our Monday night a little less chaotic and instead I’m wasting time posting this review and leaving messages at a corporate office because one gentlemen thinks because he’s family with the owner, he can speak to customers any...
Read moreWe stopped at the Amatos in Gorham last night on our way home from a road trip. There was only one door to enter and on it was a sign stating masks were required and no more than ten people at a time inside. Once inside there was a sign informing patrons what they were doing to keep them safe. One of the items was that gloves were to be changed every time a different task was performed. First off there was no social distancing, everybody was clustered together waiting for their orders which took so long they may as well of just dined in Secondly there were well over ten customers, I counted at least 16 with more coming in. Thirdly not all had masks on, as I was trying to socially distance a young man with his mask around his neck stood right next to me. Seriously is this establishment so afraid of losing the sale of a sandwich that they can’t enforce safety. Worst of all the cashier was taking the sandwiches cutting them then wrapping them while at the same time accepting customers cash and cards NEVER changing her gloves. I ended up waiting outside for a bit then going in to grab my order which thankfully did not include contaminated sandwiches. Honestly I wish that I had just left without our food. Mediocre food at to high a risk. ...
