Been coming here for years. Always loved the food and service. Unfortunately, I went in 9/15/21 and was served spoiled food and drink. The Thai tea, which is usually sweet and delicious, was old and sour. I watched as it was poured out of a container from the fridge with an OLD can of condensed milk. I thought I was crazy when I tasted it but kept trying. I went back in to have it remade because it was so rotten. This time they used a new can of milk, but still the same spoiled tea from the fridge. It was still spoiled and disgusting. It almost had a weird sour perfume taste of rot and made me really sick. The food was spoiled, the shrimp was old and rotten, tasting very sour and fishy. I tried to enjoy the meal but couldn't stop thinking about how spoiled the food was. My noodles were over cooked and mushy. My orange chicken was obviously very old and spoiled, being very mushy and tasting funny. I hate asking for refunds but the food was so bad this time I had no choice! I sent my boyfriend in to do the deed. I was so embarrassed because I love it there. They were Super rude to him declining a refund because I had "eaten too much" of the meal. This was not possible because it was so disgusting. I did eat some because I kept trying to enjoy, kept trying to convince myself it was fine. I asked to speak to a manager and was refused with a lot of attitude and glares. Even the cook came out to explain, claiming he was new despite the woman at the desk saying he'd been there for years. The food made me very very sick the next day (I won't go into the details, but you can only imagine!) I will be contacting the health department for the serving of spoiled food. The shrimp was not fresh and had to have been days old or sat out all day. There is no way that the tea was made that day and was most definitely made days before. If they comment on this with any excuse I'd love to hear how they explain serving customer sour food and why when I simply wanted a refund we were given such a poor rude attitude despite trying to be very reasonable and polite to them. Never was allowed to speak to a manager. And unfortunately I will never be coming back to a place I've so dearly loved for many years. Their service and quality of food has truly gone to the...
Read moreJust ordered the pho dac biet after a long hiatus. I've been eating at Thai Chili and Pho since it opened and enjoyed the years when Peter and his two sisters ran the place. It was GJ's own little known secret for S.E Asian food. The food was superb back then. Everything tasted fresh, aromatic, and presented beautifully. Management changed at some point and the quality suffered and the place became a shadow of its former self. I'd been back a few times but finally stopped going after realizing it wasnt getting any better and kept being disappointed. The only reason I stopped by this evening was because Pho88 still hasn't got their act together.
I guess tonight's pho was the dish to put the restaurant back on the road to redemption, or did I just catch the chef on a good night? Everything about this bowl of pho was right. The broth was steaming hot with lots of meat; beef flank, thick cut brisket, meatball and chunky tendon by the tonne! Yes! The side garnishes of lime, bean sprouts, peppers and basil were all represented fresh and heartily.
One of my gripes when ordering pho is that the broth is not hot enough. This is usually because the noodles are precooked and then blanched in cold water. Then the hot broth is poured over the cold noodles. Chefs, please, reheat the noodles under boiling water before serving! Hello? Science anybody? Also, I'm not a fan of dumping Sriracha and Hoisin sauce in willy nilly, out the gate, blindly and without pre-tasting but I've discovered that if the broth is that lacking in its signature characteristics, there is a much tastier option. Ask for a little white vinegar and some chili and garlic paste. Mix together with your lime and a dash of soy to make a sauce and add that to your broth to really make it come alive.
All in all a great bowl of pho! Hopefully now with Thai Chili and Pho, Pho88, Thai Smile and Ginger all offering pho, a little competition for who does the best is...
Read moreI am very sad with my experience with Thai chili recently. And I believe it's under new ownership because of this. For years they did not charge you a delivery fee if you were within a mile radius, something small. I live within this radius, which is why I use this company on top of absolutely loving their food. However I placed an order for delivery on the phone after being told they no longer have a driver, the website/ app displays a different price than what the restaurants total will be so take into account that a delivery fee will be applied after the authorized amount. That was all rectified which I greatly appreciated. However, upon receiving my cashew chicken and potstickers I realized this is going to be awful which sadly it was. The sauce for the potstickers is no longer the same which is very clear because there are no green onions or red pepper flakes and the taste is very different which is so disheartening because it was my favorite thing in the menu. The potstickers were also not crunchy and tasted off. The cashew chicken was the bigger disappointment. It doesn't taste the same. It doesn't look the same. It is dull in color. There's barely any crunch. I'm so sad to know that my absolute favorite Asian food place in town has become another joke. After years of coming here I will not be returning. I appreciate rectifying the pricing mistakes but unfortunately you have sacrificed taste, customer service, convenience in using third party delivery apps that take advantage of drivers (i am a driver), And consistency for profit. It's sad to know what was once a great place to eat is now going out of business due to its poor pricing, inconsistent plating, and sad flavors. I really hope you listen to the reviews of your customers and go back to the old menu as that is preferred. And if not please speak to the old owners on how to fix this problem,I would happily dine here if the...
