I'm not sure how this place has an almost 5 star rating based on our experience yesterday. We chose this place based on the high praises from other reviewers and the photos of the delicious looking quesabirria. The 4 of us arrived around 7 pm for dinner, looked at the menu for a couple of minutes, and started to order. FOOD: 3 out of the 4 of us wanted quesabirria tacos, to which the guy at the window replied that they were out. I'm surprised that at a normal dinner hour during a week day that a restaurant would be out of their specialty item, considering the closing time is 12 am, unless the time listed on the google is incorrect. We ended up ordering 2 steak and 1 chicken quesadillas and 2 chicken tacos. The chicken lacked flavor and needed salt. The steak quesadillas were just ok, not a lot of meat, and one of my triangles of quesadilla was nearly all cheese. For 4 meals, we were only given 3 tiny containers of salsa and by the time the guy gave us our food, the cheese on the quesadillas had started to cool and get that congealed but still half melted texture. More on that later. We ordered 3 horchatas, and they were served without ice and were very, very sweet. We're from Texas, 30 miles outside of Houston, where we have taco trucks, Mexican restaurants, and taquerias around every corner, so maybe my expectations are too high or maybe it depends on which staff member prepares your food. For $78, I certainly expected more. We were, however, served a hearty side dish of attitude from the guy at the window, free of charge. He was possibly the rudest person I've ever encountered in a food establishment, and for that reason alone, I'll go elsewhere. From the minute we walked up, it was obvious that he wasn't happy to see paying customers. He didn't even let me finish putting our order in, after trying to decide on something else since the quesabirria was sold out, and had already given the total. He couldn't bother to ask, like most people, "Is that all?". I told him I wasn't done ordering, to which I got no reply and a blank stare. Once finished, he apparently placed a pager on the metal part of the window but I was paying and didn't see him put it there nor did he say, take this so you know when your food is ready. Once I paid, he didn't say another word. No "thank you", no "your food should be done in X amount of time", nothing. He just slammed the window down. In that moment, if I hadn't had my 2 hungry children with me, I'd have asked for a refund and taken my hard earned money down the road. We sat for about 20 minutes, and then he brought the food out already bagged up and said he'd be back with the horchatas and water. As he was walking away, he asked in an annoyed tone, "You didn't get the page that your food was ready?" We said no, and he looked back over at the window and said,"Oh, you didn't take the pager." I was furious! After he gave us the drinks, he walked around the corner, sat in a chair, played on his phone, and lit up a cigarette that blew smoke in our faces while we were eating. We got up to leave afterward, and he couldn't be bothered to say thank you or have a good night. Again, nothing to show that this business appreciated our support. My recommendation is that if you choose to visit this establishment, if you see the short, thin, hispanic guy with a dark mole/birthmark on or near his nose...go somewhere else. All you'll get from him is warm-ish food and a...
Read moreHaving moved from Texas 3 months ago to Grand County, Colorado, I have been on the hunt for solid Mexican food ever since. Especially tacos. I confess I have been spoiled by the lofty riches of delicious Mexican food available on every street corner in Austin. The spice, the heat, the salsa! Man, how I have missed the salsa. I have been disappointed every place I've tried here thus far. Maybe I'm picky, or maybe I'm just that devoted. Either way, I found a place!❤️
Taco About It is a little food truck located in Grand Lake. It has a healthy sized menu focusing mostly on tacos and quesadillas. However, they also have amazing looking hot dogs, which I will give a try next time. I ordered three birria tacos with a side of consomme. The corn tortillas were fresh and warm, the meat was tender and juicy and flavorful. The cilantro and onions were also fresh and added to the deliciousness of the tacos. The consomme was rich and had a really great depth of flavor. The tacos came with fresh lime wedges and two sauces: a red and a green. Both were so good!!!
The owner at the counter (I presume he was the owner) was kind and friendly and quick to take my order, and quick to fill it! It was a lovely day, and I didn't mind waiting in the comfy chair with the sun shining warmly on my face. Grand Lake is a beautiful place with a charming downtown. This place is a nice addition, and I will certainly be back when I need another taco fix.
Thank y'all so much! You made this Texas girl feel not so...

During a recent tourist trip to Grand Lake, Colorado, my friends and I had an unforgettable experience — and a big part of that was this amazing food truck we found after a long hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. We were tired, hungry, and ready to eat — and just when we thought we’d settle for anything, we came across this one-of-a-kind food truck wrapped in wood. Right away, it caught our attention — it didn’t look like your typical food truck. It had a rustic, mountain vibe that fit perfectly with the Grand Lake setting. Then came the food… and wow. As someone who’s from Arizona — a place known for great Mexican food — I can honestly say this truck delivered incredible flavor and authenticity. I ordered the quesabirria with consomé and a cold horchata, and it hit the spot. The meat was flavorful, tender, and juicy — the consomé was rich and comforting. Definitely one of the best quesabirrias I’ve had. My brother ordered the Grand Dog with al pastor and loved it so much, he went back for another right after finishing the first. Our two other friends got tacos and chilaquiles, and everyone was seriously impressed. Between the amazing views of Grand Lake, the relaxing mountain air, and the incredible food from this unique truck — it became one of our favorite moments of the entire trip. We’re already planning to come back, and this food truck will be...
