Having recently moved to the area, I was pleasantly surprised to find a Korean restaurant that wasn't part of a chain (or part of a really tiny one). Due to COVID, my wife and I tried it out-all carryout. Their carry out process is smooth and the food has always been ready on time, wonderfully packaged and absolutely delicious. We finally decided to try the dine-in option (I know, brave souls) on a wintry weeknight. The place is bright, very modern and has plenty of seating. While the dine-in was not very busy (I saw some young Asian-Americans having a great time-a good sign to me about the food authenticity) but the carryout was plenty busy. They encourage the use of your smartphone to access their menu, but have plain paper versions as well. The main difference in the menu options is that with dine-in you have the options of hot stone bowls or plates for several dishes. You also have the option of several proteins for nearly all their dishes. I had the dolsot bibimbap. The temperature remained piping hot throughout the entire meal. It has plenty of fresh vegetables as well as mushrooms. My wife ordered their spicy chicken bibimbap, but not in the stone bowl and it arrived lukewarm (probably from the vegetables) but still was delicious. We also ordered chicken wings (their Supreme Sauce is delicious and firey) but those arrived later in the meal as they take longer to cook. Our server was very helpful in explaining things, including the Boba Tea. I decided to give it a try. It takes some getting used to the large tapioca balls, but the plain version I had was tasty and had enough milk to put out the fire from the gochujang sauce and the spicy wings. We had enough food that we will have a second meal! We look forward to our next visit and trying some other items we...
Read moreNoori Chicken & Tofu in Grand Rapids offers a delightful fusion of Korean flavors and comforting classics. Renowned for its crispy, juicy Korean fried chicken, the restaurant serves up drumsticks, thighs, and wings in signature sauces like soy garlic and the fiery Supreme. Diners often praise the chicken's perfect balance of crunch and tenderness, with one reviewer noting it as "the best place for authentic Korean chicken in Michigan" .
I myself got the spicy pork, Jaeyuk. I really enjoyed it and the presentation was fantastic. The side dishes were really good too.
Beyond chicken, the menu features standout dishes such as Japchae—sweet potato noodles sautéed with vegetables—and the Noori Fried Rice, both receiving acclaim for their flavor and generous portions. Appetizers like soy garlic dumplings and beer-battered onion rings are also favorites, described as "bursting with taste" and "some of the best onion rings I've had" .
The dining experience is complemented by friendly and attentive service, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. While some patrons have mentioned that the lighting could be toned down for a cozier ambiance , the overall environment remains clean and inviting. Food96

Read moreI was on this side of town and thought I'd try the other Korean Fried Chicken joint in town. They are located in a building with a doggy day care. You walk in and the counter is to the right and the tables are along the left wall. The atmosphere is very modern.
I ordered the Japchae ($12) with beef ($4) and 8pcs Korean Fried Chicken Wings with Garlic Soy sauce ($15). Japchae is glass noodles with assorted vegetables. It was good, but a little bit boring in the taste department. The Wings were cooked very well. Chicken was tender and juicy and came right off the bone. It was nice and crispy like it's supposed to be. The chicken itself tasted very good. To me the issue was the sauce. First it was only drizzled on. Secondly while it's better than okay, it's nowhere near as good/amazing as the sauce at the other korean chicken joint.
The service was friendly and efficient. No complaints there.
Overall all in an apples to apples comparison the best I can give them is 4 stars. Would I return? Probably not. I wouldn't be opposed if someone else wanted to, but I'd recommend the other...
