Whoa! Wow! Hold on a second! After moving here from Philadelphia just three months ago, I was on the hunt for an incredible coffee spot, and let me tell you, I tried a bunch of places that left me totally disappointed. But then, I accidentally stumbled upon ASE, and it was like finding hidden treasure!
I have to admit, finding the place was a bit of a challenge, as the exterior is pretty unassuming. But once you spot the gray building with the eye-catching gold lettering at 1800 White, you know youâve arrived at something special. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a super cool, laid-back vibe infused with a modern twist. The open coffee bar with its stunning white quartz countertops? Absolutely breathtaking!
I couldnât resist ordering my usual Americano with extra half-and-half and paired it with a chocolate croissant. The moment I took my first sip, I felt like I was in coffee heaven! That Americano was unbelievably smooth â no bitterness or acidity, just pure bliss. And donât even get me started on the chocolate croissant; I inhaled it in the parking lot on my way home!
This place is a gem! Whether you want to chill with friends over coffee or find a cozy spot to work on your laptop, itâs got you covered. Thereâs plenty of space, and those soaring high ceilings make it feel so open and inviting. I canât wait to come back, again and again! The baristas were not just helpful but genuinely engaging. I even had a great chat with the general manager about the best coffee spots around, and we reminisced a bit about Philadelphia.
Trust me, if youâre not checking this place out, youâre missing an unforgettable experience! That Americano was pure magic, and guess what? I'll be back...
Read morePros: -Staff was amazing and friendly -The atmosphere is classy, high end -My wife enjoyed her coffee -They have good quality matcha that doesnât come pre-sweetened like other coffee spots
Cons: -Only having macadamia as an alternative to cows milk was a bummer. I know this was done by choice but it is an active choice to alienate a majority of alternative milk drinkers. Oat milk would be a great option as it is most requested alternative. The macadamia milk lacked sufficient creaminess to match the high quality their coffees deserve. Their brand of choice (Moo is Moot) DOES contains gums and emulsifiers just as any oat milk would. -While the atmosphere feels high end it doesnât lend well to sitting down for a while with a toddler. I recognize everyone looks for something different in their favorite coffee spot, however, I feel like I would need to keep my kid quiet the whole time. -An expanded pastry selection would be nice
Would I return? Probably not but try it for yourself
EDIT IN RESPONSE TO BUSINESS: you claim in your response to my review that you donât have oat milk because it has emulsifiers, gums and oils. However the MACADAMIA MILK YOUR COMPANY USES DOES CONTAIN SUNFLOWER LECITHIN (emulsifier) AND GELLAN GUM. The things you are claiming to avoid are in fact in the...
Read moreVisited during their soft open on NYD. Very large, well decorated space. The color coordination is nice. Overtly religious music in the background, up to you if thatâs a positive or negative thing.
Friendly baristas. Coffee beans are from a roaster in Colorado, pastries are from an excellent local bakery. Their only dairy alternative is macadamia nut milk, which I found disappointing both for quality reasons and because of how prevalent nut allergies are. I hope they plan to add another non-dairy alternative to the menu now that theyâve opened fully. Our drinks were decent, perhaps some room to improve in workflow after the opening week nerves pass.
I was excited for another coffee shop to open down here in Grandview, but between the minimal dietary accommodations and religious vibes, I donât think ASE will be part of rotation...
