We made a sudden decision to try this place out after several of the kids I work with through the school had recommended it. From the outside it doesn't look 'amazing' or fancy but when I want authentic food I am rarely impressed by the outside of the place. It was a Wednesday night and early so the place was empty. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered a lime margarita on the rocks (and the server asked all the right questions) which came with this delectable chili limon salt on the rim. We ordered the beef nachos appetizer and hubby ordered the combo dinner which included the chili relleno. I ordered the enchilada trio. I also ordered the small guacamole and their spicy salsa. The standard red salsa was good, maybe not spectacular but the fresh chunks of veggies in it made up for any lack of heat. The guacamole had chunks of tomato and onion and fresh cilantro on top and was chunky and cool. The spicy green tomatillo salsa was divine. A slight salty kick with a heat that built without overpowering the flavor of the peppers and tomatillo's. I would order bottles of this! The beef nachos were filling but could have used a little more beef in comparison to the queso but it was still very good. So good that we had limited room left for our actual dinners! We did sample everything though. The beans tasted homey with a nice salty pork kick. The rice was a simple and good side dish to soak up some sauce. We shared bites of all the main dishes and the only let down was the chili relleno. Normally this is a complete deal breaker for me but everything else was so fantastic that I can't really knock it. Maybe it was just a bad batch of batter. It tasted faintly 'stale' which I usually associate with frozen ones but past the batter the chili and filling seemed fairly tasty.
After two meals, an appetizer, two margaritas and the small guacamole we were significantly impressed by how little we had spent. We were STUFFED and had leftovers to take home for lunch the next day.
The crowning jewel is when the hubby said ' When we want local mexican this is where we are going...
Read moreThis little spot is small but its got an awesome feel and the food is incredible. But what really keeps me coming back as a single mom are the prices!! My kids and i LOVE tostadas the price here for a single tostada is , i kid ya not $2.50.. thats not for a little one that leaves u needing 2 more either. They are enough for a meal for me and two are a perfect meal for my 15 yr old twins, so dinner for us is 12.50 unless we get cheese dip, and we usually do because its so so soooooooo good. That said, we still eat for about 17.50 for the three of us. Its cheaper than McDonalds and lets not even get into the quality differece, its not even a fair fight for MCD'S.. the tostadas also come with free sour cream and free guacamole to top them off, its hands down the only place in a very very long time ive seen guacamole on an item without a good upcharge to add it.. it comes w beef lettuce tomatoes shredded cheese hefty scoops of sour cream and guacamole to top it off and red sauce on the side. I always get mine to go, i started ordering at home but now just pull up and order and its dont in literally less than 5minutes so that keeps my food from sitting. I go in order and im out with fresh great tasting healthy food in less than time than it takes to sit in a drive through for grease soaked mcnasty !!!! You need to check this lil spot...
Read moreHoly Guacamole! Ok what can I not say that’s positive about this place?! Let me start by saying how awesome the beer and margaritas were. There was a beer I’ve never tried called Victoria’s (and I’ve been to Mexico a bunch of times). It’s a darker lager and was perfect. Their margaritas were DELICIOUS! I hate margarita mixes but I must say that whatever they use is not too sweet and they have 24oz of it! Margaritas in a stein? Yes please.
Ok let me move on to the food. If you’ve never tried menudo I HIGHLY recommend you get it here. So filling and if I had a Mexican aunty I would imagine this is what she would make me. So cozy and filling. I don’t usually like menudo but even I got down on this.
The chille rellenos were perfection! I always order that with tamales when I go to a Mexican joint for the first time and that will determine if I like it or not. This place knocked it out of the park.
We also had the burrito Jalisco with carnitas. Their carnitas are to die for. Perfect amount of crispy with the juicy oily goodness. You gotta ask for it with the carnitas bc it’s off the menu. Ok. I think that just about covers everything. Trust me you won’t regret coming here. The food, the music, ambiance and the friendly service can’t be beat. I’m coming back for taco Tuesday to see what...
