This is a let down.
I had evangelized Pancho's to my family, telling them how great the location in KC and Belton is (both those spots are incredible). I eagerly waited it's opening. But now I know something went wrong with this one in Grandview.... Maybe it's that they don't have their legs fully under them yet as a new location, or maybe, and far and away more likely, there's just a few bad apples spoiling the bunch.
The food is decent 99% of the time. Unfortunately, the 1% that had come up was when my brother wanted to change our a burrito due to a sour taste. Hed gotten about halfway through it, but couldn't take more of it. Mind you, since id sold my fam on it, we'd made it a weekly stop for Sunday lunch. While the quality wasn't near what Beltons location has, it was way closer to home, and therefore, the quality of the food could be mostly forgiven.
Still, it was about halfway through that he's decided he was just done with it, the sour taste of the beans and cheese was off putting, and the other times we'd been there didn't match this new-low in quality. So, we took it back up to the restaurant.
Now, Anyone that has run or worked at a restaurant knows that comping meals isn't an ideal situation but is a regularity in food service. Sure, it sucks to lose a few dollars of product, but keeping the customer, a regular, happy would be worth the maybe $2 (being generous here) loss of ingredients. I mean, it's just a tortilla and a cup of refried beans, maybe a few tablespoons spoons of cheese, right?
Wrong.
We were met with such disdain and disrespect for this request, like we were trying to rob the store because of this one bad burrito. The woman in particular who'd "helped" us was Alida (Aleeta?). She flat out refused to do anything about it. I don't need hand-wringing and apologies when I have a complaint with a restaurant, but you could at least be civil about your dismissal of our ONE request. I don't raise a huge stink, I mean, I felt bad about having to ask for it to be swapped at all, I think I've done that maybe 3 times in my life? The response was in no way justified from the staff of Pancho's in Grandview.
No thanks. Not coming back. I'll drive to Belton. Hell, I'll drive to KC before you catch me in your busted looking drive through again. Your food is already mediocre, you don't need lousy service on top of that.
Shout-out to Alida. It was your disrespect that lost like $70/week of business for your spot. 🫡 You Should've just replaced the burrito.
Give your money to El Alteño. They recognize a regular and have excellent...
Read moreThe staff was pleasant and courteous. No concerns with the service everyone was professional and provided great service. The food would have been great also, presentation of the food and prepared in a timely manner. I do have one concern that we noticed at this location of Pancho's is the difference in the preparation of staple menu items that are typically prepared exactly the same between all restaurant locations. One example is the basic chips and queso order has been changed to increase the queso to EXTRA spicy that was just way too much and needed a warning of the seasoning. Everything we ordered that we typically get from other locations were adapted to our disappointment to be overly spicy. For example the queso dip that is typically just white, at this location it's version was speckled with so much hot spice the dip wouldn't even solidify anymore and was unpleasant. Had the dishes not been changed everything would have been great. We were excited about having a location closer to us than the usually visited locations in Kansas City and Blue Springs. I guess we'll just keep going to the other locations. Very...
Read moreDo not be deceived, you will get what you paid for at this place. HOWEVER. The portions? Amazing. The flavor? Amazing. The salsas? Amazing. The queso? The best I've ever had. My heart delights in the fact that instead of having to run to Taco Bell at 1:00 in the morning to get subpar Mexican food, I can come to Pancho's anytime day or night and get a large portion of comforting, oftentimes spicy, Mexican food. It's the closest thing I've had in the states to Mexican street food I had in Puerto Vallarta. I highly recommend this place, not on the basis of a fancy sit-down Tex-Mex spot, but on the basis of Mexican street food that is well priced, fantastically, portioned, and consistently available.
I hope and pray you give this place, especially, almost exclusively It's burritos, a chance.
I recommend carne asada fries burrito. Get it with Guac if that's your thing, and order inside for self serve salsas, pickled peppers, and cinnamon dusted crispy things.
Thank you Pancho's for...
