At the Dallas Airport on a layover, and see Dickeys BBQ. Get excited because the one in our town closed down years ago.. I order a $15 pork sandwich combo and it gets rung up at almost $18… I tell them that I ordered the $15 combo. They say there isn’t one, I insist there is. The employees tell me I must’ve got something different..
I leave after reluctantly paying.. then look again. Sure enough, it was a $15 combo. Getting taken really irritates me, so I mentioned it and said “there it is, $15” ..they then admit that it’s $15.. but that their cash register rang it up as $16 along with some $0.50 recycling fee. I told them that their pricing needs to reflect the advertising.
They didn’t make up for it, I walked away feeling that this company did this on purpose. Initially the employees gaslighted me, saying I purchased something else.. then when I was proven correct, they said it was “rung up differently on the cash register” ..I’m writing this review not because mistakes don’t happen, they do.. but because I have suspicion that this business does this to many of their customers and it’s a shady business tactic.
Most no one will speak up over being charged an extra fee like this, but I do. It was misleading, and the way it was handled has me thinking this pricing mistake was intentional. Businesses like this shouldn’t be getting away with misleading prices, then trapping the customer after the food has been made. A warning for anyone looking at the reviews here - the man next to me ordering walked away. Either because of the confrontation or because he didn’t wanna get taken too. Hope this was...
Read moreThis is the worst BBQ I've ever eaten. It's in an airport, so my expectations weren't high. Not at all. It's also in Texas, which despite the rumors, is not the best BBQ. That said, what I expected and what got wasn't even in the same terminal.
I got the 2 meat meal which includes choice of meat and two sides. I chose Brisket (because Texas), pulled pork (can't mess this up, right?), Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad.
Starting with sides, the potato salad was Sisco or similar mass produced, comes in a huge huge carton potato salad. Nothing special about it at all. Similarly, the Mac & Cheese is like the stuff you get at hot lunch in college. An off brand Velveeta like cheese squeezed on some macaroni.
The meat. Dang, the meat. The Brisket was drier than my boots. When stuck a fork in it, it crumbled. The Brisket crumbled. No amount of sauce could rehydrate it, not even the 1/10 oz. container of sauce you get. The Pulled Pork wasn't as bad, but it wasn't good, that's for sure. Like the Brisket, it was really dry. The flavor wasn't terrible, but the dryness killed it.
I should have known better than to get BBQ at an airport. I...
Read moreI was definitely impressed with this BBQ spot. Had a short layover on a full day of traveling and didn't want to land hangry.
I found them tucked around a corner. They were surprisingly fast and the food was great.
I don't know how the green beans got through security because they were da b0mb!!
The Texas toast was less than expected coming in as just a buttered bun but I wasn't there for the bread. I was there for the juicy, barbacuey meats! And the brisket was thick and piled high. I was blown away by the portion sizes and flavor. (The picture doesn't do it justice but I was to ready too chow down on it so getting the right angles was not a priority. The meat was definitely bigger than it looked!) I went for the spicy BBQ sauce to wash it down and paired those taste bud exploding green beans with the mac & cheese.
If you're a fan of tasty BBQ and passing by hungry, don't skip by this spot by. You'll be glad you stopped in. Caution: may cause meat sweats and...
