FOOD: I ordered 7 things to try a range of options (1) a Honey Bourbon Brat in a Bun - it was extremely delicious, the brat was juicy and flavorful with no gristle, easily top tier and their homemade bun was surprisingly good, (2) Spaetzle Bowl With Brat and Gravy - also very good, the brat was excellent and cut into bite-sized slices which made it easy to eat, the gravy wasn't too thick or thin and had a pleasant rich flavor, the spaetzle was cooked well and essentially had the consitency of small dumplings (3) Hot German Potato Salad - the multiple other reviews of this item are spot on, easily the best one I have had anywhere in Colorado or traveling, potatoes were cooked just right, not excessive bacon (just the perfect amount), subtle but tasty dressing (4) Traditional Kraut Burger - their main attraction, simple but delicious, gives a nastalgic feeling of "what your mom used to make" if you had them growing up (5) Jalapeno Cheddar Kraut Burger - I was a little hesitant as I am a wuss when it comes to spicy, but was very pleasantly surprised to find it flavored quite well and not overbearing, essentially the FLAVOR of jalapeno but with a very mild burn, which is what I personally like (6) Cinnamon Roll - not going to lie, I had low expectations, not many places do them correctly, was shocked to find it was easily one of the best I had ever had, doughy but not hard or dry, favored well with light caramel(?) sauce, didn't taste "artificial" which I normally attribute to cheap processed flour, which means they didn't cut corners (7) Cherry Coffee Cake - this is the only thing I wouldn't give full stars on, it was too thick/dense in the bread base which also made it dry out a bit, the cherries were typical canned cherries but maybe a little better quality, nothing special unfortunately, I wouldn't order it again myself but that's the ONLY thing I wouldn't get again
SERVICE: lady running the register was pleasant and communicated well, I intentially threw 2 curveballs to see if she would remember/get them right and much to my surprise she did perfectly and there was zero mistakes on the food or order, and for an order that large I was waiting less than 10 min for the food which was also surprising
CLEANLINESS: everything seemed in good order, nothing noticable at least, please be aware that I did not use the restrooms since I was doing a to-go order and didn't stay
PRICING: pricing was reasonable, at the time of writing this (11/21/24) Brat in a Bun was 5.95, Kraut Burger was 8.35, Jalapeno Cheese Kraut was 8.70, Large German Potato Salad was 5.90, Spaetzle Brat with Gravy was 11.95, Cinnamon Roll was 4.95, and Coffee Cake was 4.95 - for most people I am sure a single burger and a side like the potato salad would be more than enough which puts this into the pricing range of fast food/to-go restaurants but a little on the cheaper side than most (McDonalds I am looking at you) and definitely a more overall pleasant experience.
SUMMARY: Schwartz has been added to my repeat list and I will definitely go again: food, service, cleanliness, and pricing were all quite good and I highly recommend...
Read moreThis week, my coworkers and I had a casual discussion which turned quite lengthy about Krautburgers. Now I've heard of krautburgers before our discussion but they were shocked and appalled that I've never had one. In fact, I never knew that there was a place in Greeley to get one.
Even though being labeled as "sheltered" because of my lack of traditional German cuisine, I implored that I was not. Not once has a friend of mine said, "Let's get some Krautburgers" or "I'd love a Krautburger!" So I proceeded to prove my coworkers that I was innocent of my ignorance.
So I took it to Facebook to help determine my innocence or pure sheltered status. The results of the poll were unsurprising and yet surprising at the same time. Unsuprisingly, all my friends my age and younger had never heard of a Krautburger. All of the respondents that stated they loved Krautburgers were of an older demographic. It is clear there is a generational divide when it comes to Krautburgers. (Fingers crossed there won't be a New York Times article now stating that Mellenialls are a lost cause because they don't know what krautburgers is.)
To cap off this story, today, my mother popped into Schwartz's Kratburger Kitchen in town because she was organizing a lunch for her coworkers (all of a certain age may I add) because it was a yearly tradition of theirs. While there, she told the lady behind the counter that I had never had a krautburger. This lady then decides to give my mother two FREE krautburgers for me to try. She gave them for FREE because she truly believed in her product and wanted to share the joy.
Thanks to Schwartz's Krautburger Kitchen I had my very first krautburger. Clearly there needs to be an education of my generation about krautburgers and this is an excellent first step. Thank you Schwartz's for your generosity and letting me try your authentic generman cuisine. As a marketer myself, this is a brilliant move to get your name out there and introduce yourself to a new generation. I now wish to say to my friends, "Hey, let's go get some...
Read moreBad service matches the food. I don't know if it was a bad day for the waitress behind the counter or what. The blonde with the lip piercing had a impatient disrespectful snippy attitude. Her attitude wasn't warranted. We had family from out of town and were looking for a good brat place. The reviews looked promising, however the brats had zero flavor. They tasted like overboiled hot dogs with a bolonga texture. The kraut burger made my father lose his appetite. It was like throwing $36 into the trash. Disgraceful. I wished it was as good as the reviewers had said. Don't go looking for early dinner on a Saturday night here. Who knows how long ago the food was cooked before you buy it. Do yourself a favor and go get a brat at the orange home...
