First off, the food was really good. Could have been great, but wasn't there. My wife really enjoyed her plate and so did my daughter. I ordered a taco plate and on the first round the meat tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a few days. It difinetley wasn't fresh tasting. It had good flavor, but the texture was a turn off. I gave it another try and ordered a second plate with different meat and those tacos were so much better. The atmosphere wasn't very welcoming. We weren't greeted when we walked in. The waitress just came up to us after we chose a booth to sit at. Another let down, was that we weren't offered a cup of ice with the can of soda we were given. FYI: they don't have fountain soda, only can soda, which was not cheap. Apparently the business is short staffed. So, when I wanted to order my second set of tacos it literally took about 10 minutes of waiting, because the store got busy and there was only one waitress at that time. One thing that did piss me off some, was the waitress never brought us our check or asked if we were finished, so I could pay. Instead, my family and I sat quietly waiting to see if we would get checked on, one last time. And no...no one checked on us, nor was a check given... So, finally I got up and had to wait in line to pay. I finally got up to the register where the waitress was, and she started just typing in numbers onto the register. She didn't reference her notes of what was ordered. She kept saying to herself, "what else, what else...." I felt like she was just entering random numbers.... At the end of it all, I didn't feel comfortable with the transaction. I still left a tip, to help. But I couldn't help feel like I was scammed.
Like I said, the food was really good, but the service was horrible. I may not be a local, but I did want my family and I to feel like we were welcomed and that they wanted my business.
Thankfully my wife and I can cook Mexican food. I just like giving her a break from.cooking on the weekends.
I'll be taking my money and business...
Read moreThey over charged me for a Fried burrito. Be aware of the pricing of what you are paying and make sure that the price that is on the window is the same price as what they are charging.
I returned today to have lunch because the fact that they were charging more for the food it was never the issue; but they have to disclose the price in the window so we have an understanding of what I am paying. The day this first happened I confronted the owner and he did not issue me a refund for what that difference was from the window to what he was charging. I tried to talk to him and let him know I wan not happy and he didn't care. I reported the issue to the WDATCP agency so I can check if what he was doing was fair. They told that it was against the law and they will have a word with him to correct the issue. I did noy go any further because I like the food from the restaurant, and I want the owner to know that he was breaking the law but again he did not care. Since is been a few months since this happend I returned because I did not have nothing personal agains them and decide to give them my business againbecause they are locally own my Mexican immigrants for which I have great respect but they need to follow the law like anyone else.
Today 8/10/2016 when I return, I order the item in questions and did not cause any problem, I paid the price and period. I was serve when the owner came tl my table. For one second I thought he was going to apologize for his mistakes and thank me for returning and giving him my business again, instead he recreminate me, and threatened me stating that I better watch my back because he knew who I was and something could happend to me because he knows bad people.
I left in fear for my life and spoke to a police officer that casually was in park in the street. He was going to talk to him, I am also stopping at the police station to put press charges for the threat. Be aware, this is not the kind of people we want running business...
Read moreGreat prices, great food, great staff! I highly suggest joining me in my Oakland St Taco Burrito addiction! Their food is crave able. One of our family favorites! My favorite items are the diablo shrimp with rice & beans, tacos, burritos & tortas. I love everything I’ve eaten here, though: bacon fried burrito, pastor/shrimp/steak, chimichangas & more.
The only thing is that when there is a mistake with your food, if the owner is there, he’ll remake it but he will at 1st deny there was a mistake and he’s not happy! Luckily it’s only happened a few times-and he fixes it like I said.
Their salsa verde (green salsa) is fabulous & you can get it to go!! Not as spicy as the red, with a lot of acidity & a tiny bit of sweetness from the tomatillos. Their horchata is a favorite of my kids & many others. It always seems expensive, a large is more than a regular taco I believe-but I don’t know how difficult or time consuming it us to make, and the large is very large.
French fries. Their french fries are amazing. Fun fact! Who would’ve thunk it?
Like I said-never had a bad meal here, great prices, great food, great people! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food (Oakland St location)!! There are a few great places in Green Bay, and this is definitely one...
