This poor review is for the So. Lindbergh location only! The Affton location is super!!
Wish I could rate this place higher. I used to love it. Went here a lot. But the food has been going downhill the last few years. Recently, my brother was back in town, and we stopped for a quick early dinner. I was so embarrassed I took him there. He just retired from the restaurant business and knows good Italian food. But we didn’t have time to head to the Hill. How bad could this be? But even I could see this was bad. The salad had a lot of yellow iceberg and his chicken parm looked (and tasted like) thin breaded cardboard. The “creamy” pasta side was gluey. We were in a hurry and didn’t have time to send it back for a redo. The only saving grace - a terrific young man who waited on us.
I should have known better. My whole extended family has actually switched to the Affton location for quite a while now. We were just in a hurry this time and this location was closer. The Affton location is a smaller place but so superior in food quality and service. So, if you’re in the mood for a Pasta House, Affton or Town and Country are better options than the Lindbergh location. Similar and also fine is Rich and Charlie’s in Crestwood. For a little nicer experience, Bartolino’s or Roberto’s on...
Read moreI had a terrible takeout experience today. I picked up my online order and would have checked with staff, but there was no one in sight for the time I was inside. Since the plastic bag was tied shut, I couldn’t check my order, but there was no other food nearby so I trusted that I had my order. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When I called and talked to Jesse, the manager, he talked over me to tell me it was entirely my fault I didn’t get my grande salad, for which I’d paid an upcharge, then he hung up on me. When I called back, he hung up immediately without speaking. Clearly, he is covering his own incompetence.
In a town full of real Italian restaurants, Pasta House has dropped to the bottom of the options. Their food is mediocre, at best, and grossly overpriced for what you get. The staff is incomprehensibly rude. When I spend $60 for dinner, I expect much better. I’ve never been treated so rudely by a restaurant manager. His manager needs to retrain him in the art of speaking to the customers who help keep them employed.
If you’re in the area and hungry for Italian, there’s an Olive Garden very close, also on S. Lindbergh, or both Rizzo’s and Rich & Charlie’s a few miles away on Lemay Ferry. Go to one of these other restaurants, and you’ll be...
Read moreI won't visit this location again.
Not sure what the managers name is but he's rude, arrogant, & I wouldn't recommend he deals with customers any further. I really feel sorry for his employees if that's how he deals with his customers. I apparently parked in the front which wasn't the correct location for curbside service.
He approached my car and yelled "Are you waiting for a salad?" I responded, "yes" with a 😃 and he charged forward raising his voice and laughing with a demeaning undertone " WELL, YOU ARE PARKED IN THE WRONG SPOT! HOW DO YOU EXPECT US TO FIND YOU WHEN YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PARK OVER THERE" as he pointed southeast. I told him I am sorry, I didn't realize as I've parked here previously and didn't realize. He grunted as I handed him my card. I then said, "obviously you found me 😀 my apologies"
He came back with my salad & receipt to sign. I added a tip (reluctantly, I might add). Thanked him & told him to have a better day! He replied..."Next time remember to park over there!"
I did not reply out loud, but to myself saying there will NOT be a next time! May he find some 🙏 namaste, his high-strung behavior could be a sign of a major...
