I was in St Louis for a family reunion and wanted to stay close to others but couldn't afford to go to the Hampton inn were others were. I could not invited them to my room to hang out because I was so embarrassed. This was the cheapest place in the area so I had no choice and already made the reservation. I wish so much to had the extra money to back out of this place. Day one: The check in and out was great. The room was quite so I got a goodnight rest. While I was waiting to get checked in I was looking around in the breakfast area and the floors were very sticky and there was waffle batter still on the iron. I went into my room and it smelt bad. The hallway smelt really bad. The carpets were not vacuum and dust everywhere. One of the bath towels was on the floor. There was a door for a joining room that you could not lock with the deadbolt and they said that's ok because there is no doorknob on the other side for them to open. And my bed was not made tightly so it looked like someone had slept in it. I over heard counter person talking to some lady about the pool and said it needed some treatment and he asked if that is something he can do or does he need to hire someone? Well she said he could do it and she not have to come back to check it. After she let I said so we can't use the pool and he said not not for 2 hours so I left to go eat and came back in an hour and the pool was full of people (humm?) One of the tendent said they found a condom in the pool, that's why I was not going swimming in there. Who knows what the inspector found as to why it need to be treated and closed for a couple hours. The freezer needed to be defrosted, would not be able to fit any in there. Day two: Went down for breakfast and the tables were dirty (they were not that busy not to wipe them down) and floor still sticky. My room and the hallway still stunk (unusual smell, almost like pot, but I was on non-smoking floor)they said they wished they knew where is was coming from. When I came back to my room from breakfast I saw next to my room, dishes with food there was a on it that said, we found this in the microwave.
Day three: Came into the hotel about 9pm and the smell was so strong it hurt to breathe, like an wrong ammonia smell. I asked the night person what that was and she said she didn't know and went back outside to smoke. After going into my room found that no one came to freshing it up, very upsetting for how much it was costing me. I saw that one of the room were open and the cleaning lady was still cleaning the rooms at 9 pm.
Monday morning got ready to leave. Going to breakfast again the floor was sticky and tables were dirty. The hallway did smell a little better. I am home now, I'm sure I am leaving...
Read moreThis was hands down the worst hotel experience in my life. To begin upon entry to the room the main lights did not work so we had to walk in the dark to find the wall lights. One the lights were on we realized that the bathroom floor had standing water, the tub faucet had rotted away from the wall, the toilet seat had what appeared to be a large "skid mark", and the tank lid was filthy. The trash can had not been emptied, and was full, the hairdryer was missing but the base was still on the wall. There was no alarm clock in the room, nor any chairs. The Queen beds each had 2 flat pillows. After my children fell asleep I noticed that the ac unit had stopped working and was flashing an error code, I restarted it and it would work again for maybe an hour and stop again, this went on all night and morning. I went to take a shower and realized that there were 2 wash cloths, a floor mat and 1 towel. All of which were not clean. The biggest towel had mascara all over it. I'm the morning I traveled downstairs to the laundry where I was greeted by roaches on the wall. I decided to return to my room and on the way back I noticed that the hotel thermostat was set at 78 degrees. The building was humid and smelled like feet, and an ashtray. We went down to breakfast and the room seemed clean, but upon inspection, none of the containers had been washed in quite some time, they had a film on them all. Prior to checking out I stripped the beds to help housekeeping only to find a giant 2-3 inch wide burn hole in one mattress, and stains on the other. The pillows were also quite yellow which was no surprise due to their age. There were several people in the building that appeared to be under the influence of hard drugs, one would assume they call the hotel home, which is to expected, but the lack of staff presence makes the other customers quite uncomfortable and vulnerable. The pool was out of order, the elevator was also out of order. The price of this room was nearly $100.00, and I have yet to receive my $100.00 security deposit back. I was not expecting the Hilton, but this was downright disrespectful, and a health and safety hazard. I did not voice my concerns in person out of fear of being asked to leave and nowhere to go with my small children in a city far from home. I am requesting at least a partial refund due to the extremely poor conditions, conditions possibly worse than a roadside roach motel. This was our first mini vacation ever, and it was mostly ruined by...
Read moreLet’s start with the good. The water pressure in the shower was great.
Now for the bad: The hotel is super dingy, hasn’t been cleaned properly in years from the looks of it. The room is the same, just nasty. Stains on the towels, rags, sheets, carpet, walls, and everything else. Light fixtures are detaching from the walls. There is no way to actually wash your hands and then remain clean as the faucets are set so far back, you’re rubbing the sink to rinse them off. I wore my crocs in the shower because I didn’t want to touch the tub with bare feet. Paper thin walls. The first night, people in the next room were having a grand ol time blaring their music and having quite the party. The next night they went from blaring rap music to having a Mexican family reunion apparently. All three of us slept fully clothed because of the beds. Towel. There were three of us and we only got two towels. I asked for another and they were out so I got a hand towel, so the three of us are sharing two towels and a hand towel for three days. No one once changed out the sheets or towels the entire stay. If you want to watch TV, you have to unplug the microwave and then plug in the TV. Obviously vice versa for reheating food. There are 7 channels with guides to see what you want to watch. Which is odd, because there aren’t but 7 or 8 viewing channels available and you don’t want to watch any of those. Meth addicts. They apparently love this place. “Breakfast”. There is bread for toasting and bagels. I saw a couple boxes of cereal and just went on my way. I think I smelled waffles so there may be a waffle iron but there’s not a chance in hades I’d use it. The smell. Animal urine, cigarettes and bleach. Comfort. It ain’t here.
I was not expecting much, but never expected this level of bad. I should’ve just taken the loss and left but I just didn’t want to waste the money. Trust me, unless you like meth and filth, don’t stay here. There was one more positive, my sons and I bonded more over guessing how may people have OD’d here and just laughing at how comically bad this place is. We really laughed a lot. So...
