I came in and saw on the menu that a small sub was $5.65 or something in that range but it said $5 and some change. The employees that took my order and prepared my order was very polite and had great customer service. However when you get to the register to pay it’s the stale rude MANAGER “may I add” that never has a pleasant or warm welcoming just always BLUHH. Tells me my total, I asked him why was it that much when the sandwich is 5 something he loudly says DIDN’T YOU ORDER MEAT! I say yes but is your extra meat $4? he holds the receipt up and loudly says it’s $2!!’ As I look on the receipt I realize the sandwich was a couple more bucks than what the menu says , so I say again it’s says it’s 5 something on the menu board he loudly says it’s $7!!!! And walks away. I asked the gentleman who took my order to look at the menu board and tell me what is says. He says it’s says $5.65 or whatever the change was. I asked if he could tell his manager what WE are looking at. He tells the manager and the manager says in the most nonchalant voice a number fell down and I’m about to fix it now. He was already peeling the number stickers off the paper so he knew exactly what I was talking about. I asked the manager why couldn’t he explain that to me instead of short talking me like I couldn’t read the menu board he then says nonchalantly “ I didn’t short talk you!” I said well you sure didn’t explain to me why there was a difference in the price as if I’m wrong for asking what I’m spending MY money on. Penn station is my favorite and I eat there at least twice a week. This location is right down the street from my job and I stop going there for lunch a little over a year ago because of this same manager. Although I never really had a bad encounter with him until today I just never ever got a warm or friendly welcoming from this manager so I stopped going and instead I would rather miss out on a couple bucks and take a longer lunch break to go a few miles up. The weather was bad and that’s the ONLY reason I went today. I never expected him to give me the sandwich for a lower price but a nicer explanation for the price difference would have stopped this review. I am a former restaurant manager myself and did it for over 20yrs and we all know it’s not what you tell the customer, it’s HOW you tell the customer. They don’t know anything other than what they see. It’s up to employees to make it a great visit and every customer deserves a smile . The time is came in the store was a little after...
Read moreOn 12-9-18 at around 8:20pm: There were only 3 guys working and they were slammed with a large group of people. I took my order to go and I left, but I was not happy with how my sub was, so I decided to go back in and tell them. Not only did they remake my sandwich, but they apologized a number of times and offered me something else for my trouble, which I declined. I was honestly just appreciative that they took care of my issue. They were very understanding and handled the crowd and my issue with the utmost professionalism.
These young men (who must be in the ballpark of highschool or college aged) handled the restaurant better than I've seen with much older people who've been in the industry for many years. Restaurant work is often a difficult and thankless job and it was refreshing that the people here took accountability and were eager to find a resolution for me. They treated the restaurant as if it was their own. I can't remember the last time I've had such great customer service in the fast food industry! They made such an impression, that I felt compelled to take the time out of my extremely busy schedule to write this review!! I hope these guys get some recognition for...
Read moreThe last 2 times I ordered sandwiches from this location I received them with very little meat on them. The 1st one Sandwich was a small Chicken Teriyaki, you could barely find 3 pieces of chicken on it. The 2nd Sandwich was a dagwood, the largest sandwich on the menu. It contains the most amount of meat of anything on the menu. The Dagwood I received did not have enough meat on it so that when they closed the bun it closed completely without seeing the meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onions or anything but the bun. When I complained about it to the guy that handed it to me his excuse was that they're only permitted to put 5oz of meat on the sandwich. And if anyone has ever seen a picture of the dagwood on the menu board you can look at it and see that there is no way in hell for that Sandwich to only have 5oz of meat. I also order cookies and they inform me that they don't have any to sell me. Management needs to stand up and get their employees in line and straighten out...
