Should have went to the restaurant next door, subpar food and health code violations will not have me coming back. When there's no customers inside when you walk in it should be an indication that you should walk out. We were greeted by a worker hard at work sitting down at table looking at his phone. When we walked over to the ordering area, that was his prompt to get back to work, thank goodness(sarcasm here) he was so eager to get to work that he forewent hand washing to grab a pair of gloves and get to it. We ordered a bowl, now never having been here, but supposing it is modeled after Chipotle, you would think they would have lettuce. Nope, no lettuce, sad. Just a base of rice followed by a choice of different toppings, no vegetarian option here like Chipotle just an extra charge for guac at the end. We told our server we have never been there before thinking maybe they would explain the choices better for us, but you know what the first 3 letters of assume is. After having to ask what everything is while making our choices we decided to stay and eat there. Our server pulled out a tray to put our food on and there were spots of grease and a bits of food on it. Now I know I'm not eating off the tray so I don't make a big deal about it, but gross. We go to find a table and as we are walking we notice that we are sticking to the floor everywhere we go, looking around for a place to sit we could choose from an assortment of tables, booths, and bar tops. Which to choose... We picked the one with the least amount of debris on it. Eating my burrito bowl, I'm constantly reminded about how there was no lettuce to put on it, feeling dissatisfied I contine eating. The "hot" sauce tasted more like tomato paste, I think I had one nuance of slight spice taste at one moment. The rest of the toppings were uninspiring to say the least. Needing to wipe my mouth I see the tork napkin dispenser. The single dispense napkin letting you grab with ease, not here. I had to dig down into the dispenser to retrieve a napkin. I thought someone didn't know how to load the dispenser, wrong. Someone didn't know how to order the correct napkin, they were not the interfolding type need for the dispenser. Sad face again. So for 2 burrito bowls and one soft drink I paid $19.89. $19.89! Why why why? Don't go here ever again, is what I'll think of when I see hot head burritos. They have way too much square footage to think they can compete with Chipotle. I see them going out of business soon. On the way out I saw a whole burrito bowl dumped on the ground outside, they had the right idea. To sum it up the employees had way too much time to have the restaurant looking like it did, maybe instead of looking at their phones they could be cleaning up or watching food safety videos. Subpar food leaves you with disappointment, my belly is...
Read moreToday was my first time, and I left without food. I walked in cheerful and with a smile. The young kids working there all had frowns on their faces. I asked a question, and they all stared silently back at me with no answer. Finally, I approached the young man, making the burritos. I repeated my question to him, and he answered politely. He was the only one with a smile. I explained to him that I am a trucker and that I could only eat half the burrito and did not want my burrito exploding open. I asked if I could have two tortillas, and I would gladly pay for the second tortilla, but only half the stuffing for one burrito into each tortilla. He told me that could be done. Especially because I was willing to pay for the second tortilla and tip for the inconvenience of the workers. I got all the way down to the end and was ready to pay. The young boy who was frowning told me that he had to charge me for two burritos. I explained what I did. Even the young boy who made my burrito explained that I only had half the stuffing in each tortilla. The young man trying to double charge me argued with me. I told him that I had no problem paying for the extra tortilla. He continued to argue with me and told me he had no choice. He was not reasonable at all. If I wanted to pay for two burritos. I would have paid to have a bowl and the tortillas on the side. I will never experience this place because I will never give my business to it. They hire ungrateful, nasty young people who have no idea how the service industry works. I have worked in the service industry. I worked in the service industry back in the day when you had to do it with a smile or you would lose your job. I did not expect tips for bad service.Like the kids do these days. I don't believe these young people should lose their job. But I believe they need training. I believe they need to understand that's the best way to get a good tip is to smile and be friendly and helpful. I recommend people stay away from this place. Chipolte has never tried to charge me double for doing the same thing. And although their staff does not smile very often. They are much friendlier...
Read moreThis is my second time trying this restaurant. The cons outweigh the pros for me. This is what I ordered: Burrito Bowl: brown rice, chicken, corn salsa, pico, lettuce, sour cream, Monterey Jack cheese, and Hot Heads Signature Sauce. I like my tortilla on the side and this time I also ordered a side of Guac and chips. Cons: the ingredients didn't have flavor. The chicken was chewy and lacked taste. I counted 6 pieces of chicken total. I understand portion control, but this is excessive! When I order pico it's to add flavor, in this case it did nothing for the bowl. I tasted no cilantro, no lime, and there were little red onions and tomatoes. The corn salsa is also intended to add another flavor and texture, which it did neither; I also counted less than a dozen individual corn kernels. The tortilla has an odd flavor all together...maybe it’s the brand they purchase from their supplier? The Monterey Jack cheese is "fancy shredded" very thin. As a personal preference I like to see my cheese...I felt cheated! The lettuce is also shredded and does nothing visually for the appearances of the bowl. I didn't feel like I had lettuce in my bowl as it seemed to disappear into the abyss of rice. The guacamole had no texture and little flavor, very similar to the frozen kind that comes in bag at the grocery store. Pros: Not busy at 12 noon. I was able to get in and out in less than 5 minutes. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was very clean. The peach green tea is full of flavor and is the best I have ever had. The chips are packed in a plastic bag with a tie around them and then placed in a paper bag. They were super fresh and crunchy. I really wish I could say that I would return for another try...but twice is enough for me. When I splurge on what is supposed to be tasty food, I expect tasty food that leaves me feeling guilty for eating it, but wanting more at the same time!!!! Sorry Hot Head...
