Applebeeâs $15.99 All-You-Can-Eat: All You Can Endure
So I did it. I gave Applebeeâs another shotâthis time lured in by the glorious promise of the $15.99 all-you-can-eat riblets, shrimp, and chicken tenders. Because letâs be honest: who doesnât want to feel like a king feasting on endless meats in a booth that smells like a mop bucket and broken dreams?
The first plate came out hot and decentâIâll give them that. It was just enough food to make you remember what eating feels like without actually satisfying anything beyond your curiosity. But hereâs the plot twist: if you want to keep this buffet-in-slow-motion going, you better order that next round the second your server drops off the first one. Not after your first bite. Not after your last tender. Immediately. Like, eye contact + âbring more nowâ kind of situation.
Why? Because each refill takes about 25 minutes to arrive. I timed it. The restaurant was empty, unless you count the tumbleweed that rolled through the dining room and the faint sound of a microwave in the back struggling to stay employed. By the time your second round shows up, your hunger has either been replaced by existential dread or youâve left your body entirely and are watching your own sad dining experience from above.
And letâs talk about the refill portions: imagine a toddlerâs plate at a family barbecue. Three shrimp, two riblets that look like they got lost on the way to a real rack, and a chicken tender thatâs doing its best to pretend it wasnât previously frozen for 14 months. You can devour it all in five minutes, leaving you another solid 20 minutes to reflect on your life choices while staring at the wall art from 2003.
One thing I will say: the on-shift manager was trying. You could see it in his eyesâhe was hustling, checking in, and doing what he could with what I imagine is a corporate playbook written in Comic Sans and duct tape. The effort was there. The resources, however, were not. He deserves a medal. Or maybe just a better job.
Look, I want to like Applebeeâs. I do. Their commercials are catchy, the menu pictures are seductive, and the concept of âneighborhood grillâ makes me feel like someone might care. But the experience never adds up. Itâs like theyâre dangling the idea of a good time in front of you, only to snatch it away like a magician pulling a quarter out from behind your disappointment.
So, if you have three hours to kill, a very slow metabolism, and a therapist on standby, the $15.99 all-you-can-eat might just be for you. But if youâre expecting value, efficiency, or even a hint of follow-through on their marketing hypeâŚyouâll leave feeling full of regret instead of riblets.
âď¸âď¸ for effort. âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ for testing...
Read moreThis is my family favorite location! Always great service and food. Unfortunately, today was poor service and iâm highly disappointed from the beginning to end.. We were immediately seated upon coming in and our waitress took our drinks then told us a different waiter who is running behind will take our order.. well that took 10 mins and we were ready but she never asked us prior to leaving our table if we wanted to order anything especially since our waiter was ârunning behindâ⌠we patiently waited and when he arrived we waited another 5 mins. The pina colada tasted like juice and no form of alcohol in it and was melted when received therefore unsure how long it was sitting there⌠We gave our order and first came the appetizer along with our kids meals⌠but my husband and I no longer saw our waiter and unfortunately 20 minutes past and we had to stop another staff to figure out what happened to our food. She said itâll be out in a few minutes⌠this was weird as it took another 10 minutes to come .. a total of 30 mins and our children was finished eating their meals.. we then saw our waiter who was coming back into the restaurant with bags and drinks from the new Chick Fil a that just opened across from them⌠it made sense now why we didnât see him nor didnât receive our food in time.. frustrating to we as customers had to accommodate our waiter as he brought food in for him and the other staff while we waited a half an hour for our meals.. my steak was not medium well it was well but to avoid anymore wasted time we just ate and quickly packed up and left.. what a huge disappointment and how unprofessional⌠We almost didnât tip our waiter but out of curiosity we gave a small tip.. only because the food overall was good but not the service. I hope this will not happen again! Iâm not sure who was supposed to cover him while he went a food run but no one apparently cared about us but themselves! I hope management gets a grip on this! I understand that the Chick fil a is exciting since it is new and right next door but first our waiter came in late to take our meals and then didnât even bring our entrees⌠Iâd put both waiters names out on her for display but instead iâm sure they know exactly who they are and hope this will be the last time we experience this⌠We didnât even bother asking for a manager we just wanted to leave altogether but next time we will bring it to corporate. Overall, we do have plans to return but again we hope this doesnât happen to us again as this is very...
Read moreCouple of days ago I visited Applebee's and I had a wonderful experience with a super Pleasant waitress or as they called a server now and the meal was delicious everything was perfect and I just kept thinking and thinking and thinking about it and tonight it's like I got to go back and order the same thing again. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, it was not the same it was, not the same experience at all. The last time I went it was in the afternoon and it wasn't very busy and that may have something to do with it. This time I was greeted by the greeter that was as slow as a sloth and did not look like he wanted to be there. he led me to a table where there was a screaming screeching child, I feel so sorry for the parents. I asked to be moved but my water and my silverware had already been delivered to the table and I said to him, rather rhetorically, should I go and get my stuff and he's like yes. That's a little unusual, usually the staff will go as a no no that's okay I'll make sure that I bring it over for you but no that's not what happened. The waitress was great both of them I had that they changed because I had changed sides. both of them were perfect friendly wonderful character just everything that you would want and somebody who's going to be taking care of you. The food was not the same, not the same at all, part of it was cold part of it was overdone, it just was not the same and I ordered the exact same meal. I am very disappointed, maybe it had to do with one time it was at lunch time and one time was in the evening, I don't know what the answer is but when I go out to a place particularly if it's a franchise I want consistency. I said fortunately or unfortunately the meal was not very good because fortunately it doesn't make me want to rush back there and eat again. Therefore saving me money! I'm very...
