East Pearl — Restaurant in Greenbelt

After nine years of ordering here, I probably won't be again. There has been a change in quality that just doesn't make it worth ordering from them any more.  I tried to write it off as a temporary issue, but orders a month apart had problems.  They have persistent staffing issues (which everyone does), but there also seems to have been a change to the quality of the meat they use. I used to be a big Peking duck fan, but the last order was not only 15% fat, but had bones in it, which it never used to We got sesame chicken, but instead of sesame, they covered it in peanuts, so my son couldn't eat his order at all, and was a major health risk The appetizers seem like an afterthought now. The ribs were also very fatty for one.  The order of teriyaki spears was the worst.  Starting with they cut the serving size in half (which they fixed, but required driving all the way back), they were dry as jerky and unpleasant to eat.  They didn't seem overcooked, but like they were from hours to a day old.  The ones we did get to finally fill the order were cooked fresh, but were only half the size

I am hoping this is temporary, and they can fix these issues, since we have been ordering from them every 4-6wks or so for almost ten years, but I can't spend $80 for a meal I won't enjoy until these...

If I can give it 0 Stars. I would give it ! We eat here at lease 3 to 4 times a week because is so convenient from work for lunch time. We usually order over the phone so that the food is ready by the time we get here. This time we got greeted with an 'You know you have to pay tip!' Server was HORRIBLE ! He had the worst attitude in the world. The rag he was cleaning the table with smelled like wet old shoe. I took it upon myself to get a napkin and to re-clean it myself. And he came and said the tables not good clean for you ' I said absolutely NOT.. I explained that the rag he is cleaning tables with smells horribly ! He took his frustration out on us because he was the only one working on the floor. It is not our fault that Mr.East Pearl does not want to spend more money by hiring more servers. We waited for our food nearly an hour. We were on our way out of the restaurant and suddenly food was ready. The chicken tempura had been sitting on the shelf for half hour before making it to our table. Making it extremely cold. If it wasn't because we were in our lunch hour and we had limited time to eat. I would have definitely walk out. The food is super delicious but the service is EXTREMELY horrible. I would definitely think twice before coming...

This establishment has DECLINED!!! I have been a patron over the last 5 years and have never received such poor service. Recently, I ordered multiple dishes including combination egg foo young. (the food is NOT cheap) We got the food home and opened the bag to discover that they did not pack any sauce for the referenced dish. I called back to the restaurant to inquire and possibly run back to pick up the sauce. The woman who answered the phone was ridiculously rude and short. She assumed to know who I was and told me that I only ordered a shrimp fried rice and then told me that they don't serve egg foo young. I corrected her and proceeded to explain my situation and she then cut me off and spat out "What do you want me to do about it!?!" I chose to end the call and also end my years of patronage.

p.s. We ended up tossing the food out that night due to the lack of seasoning. DO BETTER EAST PEARL...if you plan to stay in business!!
