Read moreToday we decided to sit down and chill, at Applebee's in Greeneville, Tennessee. While our food wasn't horrible, it wasn't great, either. So, what took me so long to say anything? Life. Ours.
We got the typical stares, and service. From both other patrons, and our server. After almost 17 years together, we've become desensitized to all of it. We expect substandard service. We expect other patrons to look down on us. That all happened today.
The host treated us different than the other guests, telling them he would bring them a menu if they didn't want just the lunch menu. We were told to scan a code.
We wore our masks inside, I am immune compromised. We were the only ones. That's ok. We're used to it.
I have severe seafood allergies. I can't eat just anything off any menu. It would have been nice to have seen my choices, as others could, without my phone.
Our server did little to tend to us, but the women behind us, even if they only wanted to give him a 50¢ tip, or the men who replaced them, could easily get his attention. We had to wait until we were done, got our bill, to get any extra napkins.
Not to mention, my wife's steak was well done, but the server said he said medium like she ordered.
We didn't ask for a discount, because we don't need more attention brought to us, than what we already experienced.
Today was a fail, Applebee's.
Maybe not for everyone, but for us.
Fill your restaurant however you'd like, but know there are people who just want a simple meal, fresh, correct and uneventful... Many of us have too much going on in our lives, other than this meal, to deal with just...

We’re visiting from Colorado and decided to swing into the Applebee’s in Greenville, TN — and I’m SO glad we did! The absolute star of our night was our phenomenal bartender, Alethea. Hands down one of the best bartenders we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Alethea took the time to ask about our liquor preferences and then crafted personalized drinks that truly captured the bold, laid-back Tennessee vibe we were craving. And let’s talk about the drink of the night — she made me a Hawaiian Organism (yes, you read that right) and it was over the top AMAZING! Sweet, smooth, perfectly balanced, and so unique — it’s the kind of drink you dream about long after the glass is empty.
On top of her stellar mixology skills, Alethea is an absolute joy behind the bar. Her conversation was warm, witty, and welcoming, and her recommendations — both for drinks and local spots — were perfect. She made us feel like locals the moment we sat down.
Applebee’s, you have a serious treasure in Alethea. She turned a casual dinner stop into one of the highlights of our Tennessee trip. If you’re anywhere near Greenville, make sure you grab a seat at her bar. Trust me — you’ll leave with a full heart, a happy buzz, and a new favorite bartender.
10/10, highly recommend. Thank you,...
