I honestly dont know where to start. We stayed in Greeneville, because we had tickets at Bristol Motor Speedway and due to the popularity of the race, hotels were booked for miles around. We ended up paying $240.88 per night due to this event. We had reserved for a friday and saturday night. While parking, we already felt odd because the place looks pretty weird from the outside, and there was a group of folks sitting in lawn chairs smoking cigarettes right at the front exit. It turned out to be the manager/owner Dan Patel and his family. I went inside and got my reservation taken care of, Dawn Eason was the name of the lady workin. She was very nice, polite and seemed like a good person. Very friendly, but seemed a bit stressed & overworked. Went back out and got my luggage to go inside. This time we used the side door because it was awkward walking through what seemed like a family party. We got into the elevator and it reeked of stetson and BO. Hallways had an okay scent, not clean but normal I guess.. but when I walked into our hotel room thats when the fun started. The very first thing was the STENCH. Smelled like moldy blankets that sat in the washer too long, body odor and dirty gym shoes all mixed together. At 5 months pregnant that made me sick to my stomach for the entire stay. The scent seemed to get worse by the minute. I dreaded being there. The restroom had literal feces smeared on the wall. The toilet tissue in the room was less than half a roll, no spare roll. Towels had the same stench as the blankets, so showers were pointless. To flush the commode you had to first remove a rubber band from the inside of the commode... literally remove the top of it to remove the rubber band to be able to flush. The coffee pot had an inch of dust on it, from where they couldnt be bothered to wipe it down. The Air conditioner DID. NOT. WORK. It blew raunchy air, but the room was HOT. I had it set to cool at 72°, however hours later it was still 85° in the room. The hotel is "remodeled" but its more so lipstick on a pig. Yoi can tell the cheapest material and labor was used. Everything is grimy and flimsy. As far as breakfast went, that was a definite no. Eating in that hotel was not going to happen. Everything was just so dingy, and I wasnt wanting food poisoning. The owner and his family were wearing pajamas while they made their breakfast, which I found that to be very unprofessional and I wasnt going to partake in that mess. We opted for Chick-Fil-A. All of this and I still havent mentioned the BIGGEST ISSUES. Someone with a key card (who else, other than management/hotel staff) tried to access the room at around 4 am, only it was foiled because I was awake (due to the rock hard beds, the failing AC and the stench) and we also had the security bar in use so they werent successful, but it gave the vibe that they're used to people coming back from the races drunk to where the hotel managers can steal things like wallets or jewlery from guests. They played it off by handing me a printed paper reciept through the door. We left at 5:30 AM because the place was so awful we were just laying in bed wide awake. After we got home, showered and into our own beds we thought we were going to be able to forget our stay in Hotel Hell... that was until I went to look over my bank account 3 days later and realized that I was still being charged as if I never checked out before 6 am the next day! I was charged a total of $1204. Thats five nights. I barely stayed one night, let alone 5. Have disputed with my bank and tried calling the hotel, however the "manager" is never available. Looks like a drive to Greeneville might be in order. Overall, this is a 1 star place and Id rather sleep in my...
Read moreQuality, no. Cheap, yes. I paid less than $60 per night. I didn't give mgmt a chance to correct issues because when I went to the front desk there was someone else already complaining about their room's condition or the staff was outside smoking. And a room this filthy isn't a one time occurence. Its poor management and lazy staff. Get it right the first time because I don't want to pack up and move to another room. Why 2 stars? Extremely dirty room. Carpeted floor was sticky in a few spots. There was what looked like grease on the doors. Dried coffee stain on the wall. Towel I used on the bathroom floor by the shower to step on was brown and black from dirt when I picked it up. Tub did not drain. Nothing like standing in a few inches of bath water after a shower. Tub floor was black. Hair on and under soap dish. So dusty! After a nights rest on the very firm and very old mattress, my eyes were so swollen in the morning from the dust. The valance over the window was wrinkled. How does that happen? Microwave was dirty. Ice vending room had a drain in the floor that had a nasty smell. The pool. Yuck. A garbage can of food that had been left in the sun to bake all day was by the gate so the smell was disgusting. Cheap plastic broken chairs and tables turned over. Flower pots attached to the fence around the pool had weeds about 2 feet tall growing out of them..no flowers. Pool may have had leak because they left a hose running in it. It was so full of water the skimmers weren't working. I'm 5' 11" and was up to my nose at the 5 ft marker. Pool equipment and a rake was left on the deck..not safe. Saw 4 staff members standing around the front desk when I walked through the lobby on Saturday. They were complaining about someone not doing their job. Well, those four were leaning and they should have been cleaning. Pet friendly hotel and one staff memeber had been outside with her dog. She brought the dog back into the lobby and it urinated on the carpet by the elevator. Yes, a staff member. At check out time there is always someone at the front desk, right? Not here. She was outside smoking again with her dog and talking on her phone. Oh..90 degrees outside and the air conditioner just couldn't handle it. The 70 degree setting felt close to 75 degrees. Maybe I should change this to a one...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel in 2011 before it was renovated and had a great experience. The carpet was old and everything was dingy looking but I had no problems whatsoever and was looking forward to returning. I'm sorry to say that I came back in 2014 and the experience was disappointing. The whole hotel smells like smoke. The bed was all right but the pillows were HORRIBLE-very lumpy and my neck was extremely sore for several days. The room was very humid and damp feeling. The new carpet was a plus, but the room was very dirty.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the dried splattered feces all over the inside of the toilet seat. The front desk was very accommodating and had someone clean it immediately.
The next day I noticed that the sink was backing up. I called the front desk and was told that it was housekeeping's day off. We offered to switch rooms if that was easier, but they told us it was not possible. Thankfully the front desk again tried to help us out and they called housekeeping, who arrived in a fairly short period of time. She had to take off the bottom part of the sink and unclog it. A LOT of black hair and stinky mess came out of the drain. Although it helped, unfortunately the sink continued to back up for the duration of our stay.
A few weeks later, I was looking at my bank statement and noticed a pending charge from Quality Inn. My account had already been debited for the amount of my stay, however, they had not released the hold. I called Quality Inn, and the person I talked to had no idea what I was talking about, so I emailed the manager, who was not very professional and slightly rude, especially about something they should have taken care of in the first place.
I am honestly pretty sad to write this review because I had a great experience the first time I stayed and would like to stay here in the future. I feel like the front desk really did their best to make our stay comfortable, despite the problems...
