Visited here for the first time today. We were seated right away (by a girl in a t-shirt and sweatpants, with no personality), who appeared to not want to be there. Our server came quickly, with dry bread sticks and took our drink orders. She returned with our drinks and took our orders. She was in such a hurry, we didn't even get a chance to order a substitute for the soup or ask for anything else, like no pepperoni on the baked spaghetti. When she brought the broccoli cheddar soup, that wasn't even wanted, it was completely watery and gross looking. I left it at the end of the table to bring it to her attention, but she never gave us a chance to say anything before leaving. Our food came, the only positive thing any of us could say was it was hot. The chicken parmesan was "breaded" with a weird batter, the chicken salad wrap was absolutely gross (dripping with way too much sauce and floppy grapes), the fries were not fresh and I didn't even get the chance to ask for any salt or pepper and the baked spaghetti was covered in pepperoni grease, which if given the chance, wouldn't have been on it to begin with. Forever seemed to pass, our server finally came back, not to ask how anything was or to see if we needed anything, but to ask if we needed to go containers and to give us the check. There was no reason to take the food home, as we didn't eat it for a reason. I did tell her about the soup, then she argued that it was always good. I wouldn't know, I didn't even try it based on how watery it was, and I wanted a salad to begin with, but wasn't given the opportunity to order one. The ONLY time she smiled was when she argued with me, like I was ridiculous for mentioning anything. We had plates full of food left on the table. It truly seemed as if noone cared. With only a handful of people dining in, it wasn't busy, so we were just left wondering why. As former restaurant managers, we know when to cut our losses and move on. We paid our almost $30 bill and left quietly, knowing it was also...
Read moreWent here for dinner after not going for a couple of years... first off, the owner greeted us by testily asking us "table or booth?" Then turned and tossed our menus and silverwear on the table and walked away without a word. Ordered a tuna sub for myself - they used to be really great, but now they're pre-made tuna salad from a bucket - very poorly made and inedible (and at first they brought me a tuna salad, a girl who was abrupt and told me she was NOT my server, my server had been pulled away for a party.) I ordered an Italian sub to go for my husband, and it was like something a child made. (See pics for both.) He ate it anyway at work, and it made him nauseous. Got the chicken tender plate for my daughter, but the chicken tenders were not made of actual real chicken. They were like what you'd find in a kids cheap chicken nugget. The fries were plentiful and crispy on the outside, raw on the inside. I got coffee that tasted burnt like it was left in the pot wayyyy too long. The chicken lemon rice soup was actually tasty but barely warm. The only thing that my daughter and I had no problem with was the cokes. They were the only good thing. I don't know what's gone wrong at this place. I was going to complain at the time, but the owner was there, and he just seemed angry. It used to be a great place to eat. I paid 55.00 ( with tip) for food that took too long, we had to take out in boxes, and no one wanted to eat. I'm so disappointed. EDIT: The breadsticks were not the same either. They were definitely bread, but no flavor. Not the super tasty ones...
Read moreMy family & I went in to enjoy a nice meal at the Gondolier restaurant. We were greeted right away, & it was an hour till closing time. We sat in our booth for 20 minutes & not a single employee came to at least greet us, let alone ask if we would like to purchase anything. As a person who has worked in the restaurant industry for 2 decades, and an incredible tipper, I was so irritated that we left. Not a move I usually make...everyone has bad days, right?! But it was so blatantly obvious that the staff was either ready to go home, or they totally didn't want to serve my family dinner because they felt like they wouldn't have made any money that evening. Regardless, I would like to tell everyone in the entire Greeneville area that although I am new to this town, it would be nice to be accepted, just once. I spend quite a bit of money in this town on a daily basis. Mostly to mom & pop businesses, cause I believe in them, & I want to see them grow. But mostly because I will always be a great consumer to my surroundings, supporting my local & hardworking community. And as for the Gondolier restaurant, make no mistake, Casa Nostras is where I will be picking up...
