We just left after dining here about around 7:30p after arriving maybe 5 mins after 5pm. So we spent about 2hrs or so dining but most of it was waiting for food to come out. We had a party of 6 people. Upon ordering, we learned many options were not available due to volume of business with a couple of large groups they had yesterday. The one thing that 2 of us wanted was to try the Jollof rice. We were told that the cook was starting to prepare it and can take an hour or so, yet it is almost 5:30pm. On Saturday's they have been opened since 12p. Why are they not managing and timing the batches of the Jollof rice to know when to start on the next batch it this is one of the side dished that patrons are ordering most of, but I digress. We had 5 apps and 6 meals. One app came out lukewarm and the other was forgotten. The other 3 apps specifically were 2 orders of the jerk chicken egg rolls and 1 order of the cheesesteak egg rolls. These cheesesteak egg rolls were mid, slightly salty and the jerk chicken egg rolls for some reason seem like it had a heavy hand of cayenne pepper taste to it. We were told it would be spicy but not what was expected for the taste of spice and my family can eat spicy food. It also threw me that they are pairing the egg rolls with sweet thai chili as a dipping sauce for both these apps as the food is a Southern-Caribbean style. It took a while for all the main meals to come, but once it did, not much of it was seasoned. No salt. Cabbage, bland. Mac n Cheese, cheesy but bland. Even the noodles, bland. Green beans, if get southern style, it will have pork in it for flavor but still missing salt. If get the garlic green beans, it will have some sort of weird brown butter sauce which tasted bland. Sweet potato fries slightly fried too long. Garlic fries, salty. Chicken wingettes are best to get grilled because that is where the seasoning is, but if get battered or naked, no seasoning to taste. Please know, I am not a smoker and mainly drink water. Everyone at the table had the same complaint. For the food to taste bland, for the staff to stand around behind the counter most of the time talking, for them to have plastic catering plates, plastic cups and to cost this much especially when your are applying gratuity of 18% for parties of 5 people or more is highly disappointing. It seems as though this restaurant is not equipped to manage the volume people such as large groups if not supplying enough food nor managing the time within their service as have been now opened for 5 months. If they do not improve on all of these things, they will not make it. By they way, the dinner was to celebrate...

Came here from out of town to celebrate a birthday and our experience was a major disappointment. We came on a Saturday right at opening time. Before entering the restaurant, I immediately got excited that they had oxtails on the sign outside of the front door. So, I knew exactly what I wanted to order and didn’t need to look at the menu. First red flag was we received our water in a plastic cup and the cutlery was plastic as well. When it was time for me to order my food, I was told that they weren’t serving oxtails today, but the sign clearly stated oxtail dinner on the sign. So, I had to wait and review the menu and pick something else. Decided on the Jerk chicken egg rolls and the whole wing dinner. We were a large group but the food took forever to come out and we were the only ones there when they opened (2nd red flag). No ones food came out together, we all received our food at different times. One side of the table was done with their meal before the other side had even received their plates. Our server came back and told me that they were out of the jerk eggrolls (at opening time), so we ordered the Philly eggrolls. Someone comes out from the back 5 mins later stating that they actually DO have them and we can keep our original order. I kid you not, 10 mins later the server returned and said that they had it wrong and they only had two jerk eggrolls available and the rest Philly so we would have to split that amongst the other people that ordered that at our table as well (3rd red flag). Our food finally came out and it was on a plastic plate as well smh, the wings were decent and could be more seasoned. The cabbage had peppers and one sausage and was so bland, I took one bite and couldn’t eat anymore. The sweet potato casserole was sour. My husband ordered the beef ribs and they were just okay, his jollof rice was nowhere nearrr true authentic jollof rice. The Mac n cheese was surprisingly pretty good and the eggrolls that we actually received. With 1 alcohol drink each, 1 appetizer and two meals our bill was $136 including a 20% gratuity fee that was automatically added!! Never again will I visit this establishment or recommend it to any...

This review has zero reflection on the food but is an indication that all good food doesn't equal "restaurant". I also wanted to take a few days before writing this to make sure it was not written from anger. This place is sad and makes me sad to have to write this review. I can ONLY hope that it is received as a matter of means to improve. We had the absolute worst experience trying to have an event at this establishment. From the beginning it was a disaster, the energy in this place is "off" and the "manager" had ABSOLUTELY no empathy and by the looks of it no business being the manager. We booked this space months in advance and went in the night before to try and mitigate the damage as we were only given 1 hr to set up prior to the event starting. We arrived and our time was cut to 42 mins b/c EVERYONE running this place was late- including the manager! We enter a space that was a filthy mess. Tables and junk everywhere, roaches( dead and alive), tablecloths filthy, chair covers torn/tattered, floors slick and all kinds of fire code violations. Food arrived 50 mins after the start of the event and didn't include the entire order( not sure where we eat shrimp/fish at brunch w/o grits). We had to request everything including water to get this place in order. And to add insult, they rushed us out. I refused to eat the food b/c I saw all the roaches and made the mistake of entering into the kitchen to get some kind of support from the staff. Requested some sort of cleaning/sanitizing supplies and none were available in this establishment. Bacon was under cooked and microwaved along with the sausage. Folks did say that the food was good and I was happy to see they enjoyed it. If you are a true GBORO native you know the history of this establishment. A good SAGE and cleanse may be the first place they need to start. Will NEVER patronize this place- not even for free. There were two young ladies ( Amarianna?- Smuffette hair) from the kitchen that jumped in with smiles on their face and we totally appreciated them. True...

Let me tell you about one of the hottest soul food joints in NC. The crab fries and flounder sandwich was a hit 🥳 10/10 stars for us.

We recently celebrated a graduation at Aunt E’s Southern Cuisine with a party of 10, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. Our reservation was honored promptly, and the warm atmosphere made it feel like the perfect spot for a special occasion. The food was nothing short of amazing! We started with some unique appetizers, including crab fries, shrimp and crab egg rolls, and Philly cheesesteak egg rolls—all flavorful and beautifully prepared. For my main course, I had the fried flounder, cabbage with sausage, and their signature mac and cheese. Every bite was cooked to perfection, showcasing authentic Southern flavors. Adding to the vibe was a live DJ playing nostalgic R&B hits from the ’90s, creating a lively and fun environment. While it added a lot of energy to the space, our proximity to the speakers made conversation a bit challenging. There were a few minor hiccups with service timing—our entrees came out before the appetizers, and half of our table was served about 10 minutes before the rest. Additionally, a few menu items were unavailable, which seems to be a growing trend at many restaurants. It made us wonder if they prepare a limited quantity of certain dishes daily. Despite these small issues, our experience was fantastic. The $5 drink specials were a nice bonus, and our server was exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring our glasses stayed full and our needs were met. Aunt E’s Southern Cuisine is a gem. The food, the atmosphere, and the friendly service make it a must-try for anyone craving delicious Southern cooking with a side of great vibes.

We stopped in on our way from Ohio to Myrtle Beach with a large group! Funny thing is we called another spot closer to our hotel but they were so rude over the phone we said lets look for another spot. So glad we did! We did not make reservations didnt know if we needed them or what to expect being from Ohio and group of 10 5 of them kids. They were SO nice and inviting! They took our group back to their banquet room so we could have somewhere to sit and order (we were taking it to go). The owner E was friendly she said hello as we went by (we didnt know she was the owner our waitress told us) Our waitress was Rory. She was everything! Young lady made me WANT to give her a tip. Quick, knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating! Now to the food! When I say this was some of the BEST soul food we have ever had. Everything was hot and fresh. The lobster fries were amazing and they definitely were not skimpy with the toppings you get what you pay for! We also had the bourbon salmon fresh and good! The bourbon sauce was everything! Now the lobster/shrimp eggrolls were the bomb!!! They were huge and the flavor!! These are not typical eggrolls and again they were absolutely not skimpy you had a mouthful of lobster or shrimp in every bite. I shared with two grandkids, my son shared his with 2 other people and we ended up ordering another to go. YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO TRY THOSE! We also had the sampler and I mean we were just completely satisfied even the picky kids! Definitely a 5 star if I could give more I would! Sorry we smashed so quick we really should have taken more pictures.
