This is the best restaurant experience we’ve had with my son’s basketball team. We went in around 5pm on a Saturday with a group of 8 thirteen year old boys. All told, our party was 17 people. Staff didn’t bat an eye. They were friendly and welcoming, already had a couple of tables set up to accommodate large parties. We were seated immediately, drinks immediately, and the waitress made some excellent recommendations. For the team, we took the staff recommendation and ordered a combo platter for their table. I was a little worried about one platter feeding a whole basketball team, but there was more than enough! Every person got multiple chicken kabobs and plenty of sides. It was a huge hit!! The parents table placed individual orders. I has a hummus and chicken plate, along with lamb vegetable soup. I cannot say enough about the quality of the food. Seasoned to perfection, tender meats, everything made fresh. The service was exemplary (and fast!), the food was top notch, overall the restaurant was comfortable and welcoming. 5 star place for a casual...
Read moreTime will tell… It has been a really long day. My flight was delayed so my dinner choices were thin. I arrived to Shish House a few minutes after 9. The door says they are open until 10. Once inside, the hostess informed me that they were only doing orders for carry out. Strike one, why not say that on the door? So, I browsed the menu, placed an order for just under $50 (with the tip), paid and waited. While waiting, I asked for a cup of water, was informed that they only have bottled water for sale. After spending almost $50, I thought maybe a cup of water was not too much to ask, or a bottle of water for that matter… Strike two?
I will get some photos and opinions on the phone when I get back to the hotel. At the moment. Not too pleased. Ok the food was good. It probably would have been great if I had consumed it in the restaurant. The lamb kabobs were tender and flavorful. The rice has a nice hint of seasoning. The hummus is good and a large portion for a half order. I upgraded to the Greek salad and it was great too. Oh yeah, shout out to BK for a...
Read moreDespite the other reviews, the chicken shawarma plate I recieved was delicious and without issue. They definitely char grill their chicken, which I feel is more authentic, but I can see how they may burn of overcook it at times.
The hummus was very good and had the texture you'd expect of Home made vs. store bought (which I've had at a few not-to be named restaurants locally). Their crushed lentil soup was also good quality.
Portions were plentiful and enough that I had leftovers. Is it a little pricey, yes- but I didn't find it outrageous for the service, quality and taste of the food I recieved. (Note: I went in at lunch time when there was only one other set of customers)
I also appreciated that they had actual middle Eastern music playing, which added to the "authenticity" of the atmosphere.
All in all this is the first Middle Eastern restaurant I've tried in Greensboro that lives up to expectation levels after having been spoiled living/working in...
