I stopped by here for a late lunch one afternoon after hearing about their great Caesar wrap. I love a good Caesar anything so I was excited to try it. Upon arriving, the inside was a bit confusing. I stood for a moment looking at their signs and watching others to figure out what the deal was. After taking a moment to look at the shelf items they had for sale, I approached the order counter. The man there was incredibly rude and I was very taken aback. I greeted him and he just said “what can I do for you?” I started to order but had a moment of doubt that I was talking to the wrong person because it was a strange way to ask for someone’s order. Anyway, I started to say “may I please have the b…” and he cut me off and goes “Byrd? Yeah” with a scoff. He put it in the computer, asked for my name, and goes “ok” and walks away from me. It was just so weird. I stepped away from the counter and was watching the group who ordered in front of me to see what they were doing so I knew what to do next. They waited at the checkout counter for close to 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged them. I circled the shelves with the items for sale no less than 5 times because I felt so awkward in there. I was standing a few feet behind the group waiting at the checkout as I also needed to pay, and another employee who was putting online orders on a counter nearly took me out because he wasn’t paying attention and absolutely gave no care of customers standing waiting for orders. My wrap was finally ready, I had to wait another 5 minutes to be acknowledged to check out, and I asked if I could add a slice of sweet potato cake at this point or if it was too late for me to order it. He said I could and rang me up - $30 later for 1 sandwich and 1 slice of cake. I then had to stand around for another 5-10 min waiting for the slice of cake that was literally right in front of me, they just had zero sense of urgency. I couldn’t wait to get out of there, the whole experience was so absurd. I did end up liking the wrap, it was well filled and had good flavors. I can see why it’s popular. The cake was pretty good too, but slightly dry. I’m glad I tried this place, but I’ll be very hesitant to return just because of the staff. I’d hope it was just an off day for them, but wow it was really an ordeal for 2...
Read moreClassic Deli with a modern atmosphere and deeply layered flavors
Augusta Street Market had their soft opening this week and it did not disappoint. I spent the majority of my Highschool years working in a deli after school and the memories came flooding back. Premium meats tagged with in house baked bread and a professionally tailored menu.
The Rhett chicken sandwich was the star of the show for today’s visit (I say today because I will be back). The bread and lettuce almost faded away as uniquely bold flavored chicken salad stole the show. Delicious, fresh, and a smooth flavors were well balanced and left me wanting another bite to steal from my wife.
I got the classic Italian (the Bleeker) which was PACKED with meat. Each bite had plenty of protein leaving me completely full with no need for a side of chips. There wasn’t too much lettuce and I added tomatoes for an additional $1 charge, but honestly it was probably hard to fit anymore with that much meat. If I got it again I would do the pepper relish on the side and do extra mayo, but I prefer a more savory Italian then heavy vinegar. When I found a bite that aligned with my preferences the sandwich is a 10/10.
There are plenty of fresh side food options by the pound to choose from and the pesto pasta & lentil soup were delicious. There was also a mini shop in the middle which looked like they had healthy food options to take home or buy for a friend. A fun and modern atmosphere that works perfect for the Augusta area.
Overall, I am excited to come back for the meatball sub and breakfast (they have a local partnership with Methodical coffee). Come try it out and join their rewards program for a daily...
Read moreThis was such a frustrating experience. The food was overall very good and the place itself was very cute. But the service was the biggest hold up. We went here on a busy Saturday and the line was out the door. That’s fine…popular place at a popular time. We waited in line for probably 25 minutes before we walked up to the counter to order our food from the one guy who was taking everyone’s orders. And when we got to the counter, the guy wanted to have an entire conversation with every single customer. While this is very friendly of him and adds to the neighborhood vibe of the restaurant, it became obvious that the reason we were waiting in line so long was because of the small talk. I may be in the minority, but I would prefer a quick how ya doing and thanks for coming in with my order versus asking my life story when we’ve already been waiting for so long just to order the food. And then we went to the checkout counter where I ordered an iced tea and we had also ordered a to go thing of chicken salad - both of which are items kept behind the counter. We paid and then he sat back down on his chair behind the counter and returned to eating his snack. I asked if I was going to get the chicken salad now or when the meal comes out and he said it should come out now (it did not). He also gave no indication of where to get my tea. Waited for 5 minutes and had to find somebody to get my drink. Waited another 5 minutes and had to ask someone else about the container of chicken salad. The flow of service was confusing and soured the...
