Tasty Soul Food & Bar — Restaurant in Greenville

I am basing this review off of two different experiences.... The first one being January 2024 which was our first ever trip to Greenville and being our first time trying tastey. Our experience was decent and we thought the food was absolutely amazing, which prompted us to come back in July 2025 on our 2nd trip and try it again.

This time around not such a pleasant experience. We were looking extremely forward to eating their yummy food again only to be left highly disappointed. Two of the days they were supposed to be opened (Saturday 7/5 and Sunday 7/6) at noon however sadly to our arrival they were not open on either day. We made several phone calls even from Florida to confirm they would be open during the holiday weekend on "this day" at "this time" and were told by multiple staff they would be there. Showed up 7/5 to a closed restaurant but the cleaning guy said the restaurant would reopen Sunday 7/6 only to have driven across town not once but twice and back and fourth two times to be let down with the doors being locked and no open business again. Several people sitting in their cars in the parking lot waiting for the doors to open as well as many walking up only to find a locked door. While the food was delicious the business management and guidance of this place seems to be poorly ran which will not end well for them in the long run. We wasted alot of unnecessary time driving and waiting, watching hundreds of dollars wait and leave trying to give it the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were running a bit late but after waiting for 30 minutes we finally gave up. Highly disappointed we didn't get to eat here before heading back home. Hopefully for the sake of the business they get their schedules on point or they may not be around for our 3rd trip back.

Regretfully disappointed Tastey lovers...

Tonight was the last!! I order the shrimp meal and fried pork chop meal. Once I gotten home and tried to eat my dinner, the shrimp was fried to hard. I get it people make mistakes . The problem started once I arrived to return the meal after she requested me to bring it back. The lady was very confrontational because I asked for my money back instead of a replacement meal. I worked in the food industry for over 20 years on all level. Because you couldn’t just apologize and kept your mother shut you have lost a customer that’s been coming to you over a year since I moved to Greenville. I have bragged about this place but tonight customer services is the worst! I have provided this restuarant an entire case of cocktail sauce since whoever order the food couldn’t remember to order from one of my restaurants. And you tell me next time tell them not to cook them soft lady just don’t give food that’s been under the warmer all day. I been getting pretty much the same order every time. Lady no one wants to go back and forth after you missed up and definitely after a 15 hour shift working in a restaurant! Just take the loss and keep pushing. It’s very disappointed that one had to go through paying $45.00 for two meals. I just wanted fresh shrimp! I choose not to every return to your...

Atmosphere: small but "doable" Service: friendly and patient (with that being my first time) Food: "meh"...it was ok..the turkey necks were pretty seasoned and tender...the 3 sides were "okay"...I just hate that with turkey necks or beef stew plates...the rice and gravy are not "already" included...its still considered one of the 3 sides🤷🏽‍♀️...my daughter did the chicken wing plate and wanted to add an extra wing, but was told that they couldn't do that...she would've had to buy an extra 3wing plate if wanted more (or something similar to that nature)...just know she couldn't add an extra wing to her plate 🤷🏽‍♀️...she WASN'T excited about her 3 sides..she said the okra was pretty good but her mashed potatoes and gravy tasted like "chicken soup"😬 and the Mac and cheese was okay but nothing she would buy again ..when I tried her sides, they were "ok" but to me, the Mac and cheese was kinda "dry" but still "doable"...she LOVED the strawberry crunch cake and I DID too...very moist and well balanced flavors...my honey bun cake was good, but too sweet and "cinnamon-my"...almost reminded me of a cinnamon roll cake or something, but it was just as moist too...I would try them again and do a different plate to test out...
