Having never tried the 05 seemed a bit daft. It is, after all, the closest restaurant to where we live—a mere 2 miles away.We wanted an early dinner after a long day of physical work, cleaning up post-Helene, so we headed out at 5 to give it a go. We ordered a drink—prosecco for my wife, and Pinot Noir for me. Both fine pours for the $10, and quite tasty. We ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprout Salad and the Sliced Steak, cooked med/med-rare. The reason for the 4 star service rating—which otherwise was good—is that the food arrived and we still had no cutlery and napkin … which I had to ask for. Maybe not a big deal to some people, but after decades in the service industry, that will knock a bit off your points in my book. If not set before seating, set as soon as the order is placed, and mark the table for specific courses/items. The only knock on the atmosphere (we sat outside) was the chairs were among the least comfortable I’ve sat on in years. Your results may vary, but I think anything longer than an hour at the table and one might run the risk of DVT. The food though, was top-notch. We shared the plates and they were both delicious, plentiful, and well presented. The steak was cooked perfectly and was on a bed of crispy smashed potatoes and mushrooms and the salad was the perfect accompaniment of greens, sprouts, sweet potato, sunflower seeds, and feta crumbles in a delicious, creamy buttermilk dressing. We ate every morsel, and asked for some bread so as not to miss a drop of the savory sauces. All told, it was exactly the type of easy, close, wonderfully delish dinner one wants on the fly … and we will DEFINITELY be back to get that burger! (spying on other tables throughout and everything looked excellent!) The only reason I didn’t go full 5 stars is described above, and I didn’t have a 4.5 ⭐️ option. Nice to have such a gem in our neck...
Read moreTo die for family style tapas! The 05 is the perfect place to enjoy food as a group. Tapas are general small bites to be shared but what The 05 does is elevated that in larger portions so everyone gets to really taste the flavors coming from each dish. They are known for their Brussels sprout salad which lived up to the hype. I found myself digging through to make sure all of the Brussels sprouts were really gone. I wasn’t sure the sweet potatoes would work but with the cheese and nuts it all came together in such a unique way. We couldn’t stop eating it.
The tuna nachos were made with fresh wonton chips, chopped tuna, guacamole, and a wasabi aioli. I had to fight my husband for the few bites he let me take. He’s a big fan of wontons and wanted to order a second just to keep eating them.
Finally the Garlic Shrimp, get them. For such a simple dish the flavors were built into this dish so well. I really enjoyed the garlic oil which definitely shouldn’t be skipped. Everything on this plate just makes sense together. The shrimp were beautifully cooked paired with the tomatoes and feta it’s so simple but there is nothing simple about the flavors.
I love this type of dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The drink menu is well thought out and offers many options. The staff here is friendly but more than they they help each other’s tables so that you know there is someone available whenever you need anything. We will...
Read moreThis was our first time dining here and came for a date night. They don't take reservations for parties less than 8 so I figured we would be okay getting there around 6:00 pm on a Saturday but the inside was completely full (small, holds 50-75 people?) so we were redirected to the outside patio and told we could sit at a 4-top table directly in the sun (no shade or umbrella) or at the long "community" table, even though there was an available 4-top under the covered portion of the patio that remained unused the entire time we were there. We chose the long table but found the back-less stools were uncomfortable after a while. I couldn't get comfortable or relax. This was my biggest issue. The long table held 12 stools, and in the same amount of space they could add three 4-tops for a much better dining experience.
The ambiance of the patio area was a 0/5 for date vibes. It is right next to a busy highway with a parking lot on the other side. Some large potted plants, light music, and ceiling fans would have greatly improved the experience.
That being said, the service, food, and drinks were good. We got the brussels sprout salad (delicious) and paella which was good, but we weren't a fan of the mussels, they needed more flavor. I would come again for a casual meal with a friend or small group, not for a date or large group as this building doesn't seem like it would be able to...
