Mirroring [rewriting] my review for Chico's from 2015 that was removed by admins on yelp:

I can't say much about the food at Chicos; it's the typical texmex dining that is typical cheap college food which makes sense considering it's location snug right between a couple of dorms and a half dozen apartment complexes.

The last time I went (2015) I got the nachos and some kind of taco thing and both were just 'eh' -- not offensively bad bar the overuse of jalapenos, but not anything I'd write home about. Normally I don't even write reviews, honestly.

However, this particular visit will always be why I will not go back to Chico's (in Greenville at least). It was either on or the day before Halloween and of course there were lots of college kids in costumes hanging around downtown. I had gone to take my brother to lunch and had the misfortune to sit across from a white college kid wearing what I believe was supposed to be a lazy 'Easy E' costume, with greasy blackface smeared across his face and neck. He proceeded to grinningly stare at my brother and I -the only black people in the restaurant at the time- for the duration of our meal and laugh with his friends, about what I can only assume. At no point did any employee or waitstaff move this man and his immature friends or ask him to leave. My brother and I were starting to feel uncomfortable and didn't want to have things blow up into something, so we took the rest of our meal to go and I made known to whoever was running the register that the experience was unacceptable and we'd never dine there again...

And that I'd be leaving a bad review -- I was never reached out to by anyone representing Chico's following the original review (which I have been before at other dining establishments wanting to make up for poor service) and I noted recently it's since been removed by admins on Yelp. I don't expect Chico's cares. They have the college kid food market down pretty easy. But if you're someone like me who just occasionally eats out at random places maybe this review will dissuade you from giving Chico's your hard...

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience! If you are anything like me you usually check a restaurants reviews before eating there which is why I am typing this. The first time I came here I had high hopes because a lot of students talked about this place so it seemed like the place to go but to my dismay Ive had two bad experience dinning here.. food was far from good and seemed to be understaffed at the time so I thought I would give it another chance! This time I went on taco Tuesday. We arrived just before 8pm we asked if they had dollar tacos and they said yes so we sat down. When we tried to order these said tacos we were immediately shutdown and told we were not able to order tacos until after 9pm....(what seriously?) So we said fine we will wait (granted we were already starving). So then we asked if she could go ahead and take our order so when 9pm comes around she can go ahead put it in the system or whatever so we wouldnt have to wait any longer and she said no sorry I have to wait till 9pm so we said fine okay. THEN the waitress walked off not even taking our drink order...another 10 min go by before she returns to ask us if we wanted anymore chips and we gladly thanked her but asked if we could order our drinks instead and so she did...more time goes by before 9pm when she returns and asks us if we would like to go ahead and order so when it turns 9oclock she can put the order in...wait didn't we ask her to do that earlier?? But she could just be having a rough day so we let it go..Anyways 9pm rolls around and so does our food the shredded steak tacos tasted like bbq (no bueno) and the ground beef was inedible it tasted horrible when we complained to the manager she said "oh yeah I dont like the ground beef here either"....wait what who talks bad about their own food??.. anyways those were my two experiences eating here and will sadly not...

So lets start off by sharing that We am from out of town. Our oldest Daughter is attending, You guest it... ECU. We had come up for a visit and She wanted to take Us out to lunch. It was suggested, after asking Us what type of food We were up for, to visit Chico's Mexican Restaurant. Upon arrival, My first question was regarding parking. There is a Public Parking Meter with little to no clear direction. I had asked inside and was informed that there is no parking charge on the weekends only. Hope this is a little helpful. Upon entering with Our complete group, We were quickly seated in a nice booth towards the right rear of the Restaurant. Water, Chips and Salsa were served quickly and We were told that Our Waitress would be with Us shortly. Along came Hanrahan, polite, cheerfully and very attentive. Took Our orders, a group of, and headed off. We had ordered the: Enchilada Verde, 2 orders of the ACP, Steak Churras and a Pollo Blance. Shortly there after, She came back to let Us know that Our food would be ready shortly as they were waiting for the Steak order to be completed. Our food was brought to the Table rather quickly, hot and fresh. Hanrahan came back to check on Us several times to make sure that We were happy with everything and was very aware of Our tables needs. The atmosphere was nice, but...… the reason for making sure to write this review is to credit the Restaurant for delivering a quality meal for Our Family and more importantly to acknowledge Hanrahan's EXCEPTIONAL service. If this is Your go to Restaurant, Hanrahan should be Your Waitress. I am sure that the Restaurant Management is aware of the exceptional employee they have in Hanrahan. Please make sure to acknowledge Her if and when possible. Date of visit: 09/12/21, TBL...

We were with a large group, so we had a portion of the back of the restaurant reserved. We had a few servers, but the one who served my table was Finn. There were chips and salsa for the table, but I did not get to have a lot because I was at the end of a long table. I got a chicken quesadilla. It came with ranchero sauce and some sort of green sauce. Both sauces were really good! I am not sure what the green sauce was, but it was thin and tasted almost like Italian dressing. The tortilla was thick and fluffy. The ratio of chicken to cheese was satisfying, and the service was great. Overall, I really liked it here and would definitely come back!

I came here on a date Friday evening. It was a very chill place inside, with colorful lighting. It was not noisy at all, guests have enough space to enjoy their party's company. We were seated and waited quickly. I had a pomegranate margarita which was strong but very sweet. I ordered the chili relleno, complete with a side of rice and beans. The meal was very Mexican authentic (but I've been told by others that other entrees are not as authentic). I would recommend this restaurant.

Chico's is a decent place to eat. And that's about it. The decorations, the architecture is fun and right on theme. I ordered the shrimp quasadilla with refried beans, and while my meal was ok it definately wasn't worth what I paid for. The shrimp was fried in a nice sweet and sour kinda batter, nice but just didn't taste like Mexican food. The best indicator of a Mexican food restaurant is the chips and salsa, which were very hot but not very flavorful.
