I placed this review on the Facebook page on the day it occurred but noticed the page doesn't get a lot traffic. Due to the circumstances and for health purposes, I'm adding it to Google reviews. This was weeks ago so the issue may have been addressed. I haven't been back since so I don't know. **Edit 1/18/20.. After I submitted this review, I read several other recent reviews also complaining about roaches. 🤮 ** Saying this in public brings me no joy because the employees and food are phenomenal, specifically the staff. They make the dining experience so much better. My little girl and I have eaten at Miyabis quite a few times, it's definitely a favorite . My daughter would eat here everyday if I let her. Unfortunately until the issue is fixed, neither us will be back. She and I were dining when good size roach crawled across my table between my glass as the chef was about to begin cooking. I didn't want to make a scene by pointing it out and embarrass the cook in front of everyone else at the table. Thankfully, the cook saw it the same time I did, he immediately apologized, placed his towel over to take it off the table, then went right away to get the manager. Manager stated he would move everyone to a different table or clean the table. Obviously at this point the others at the table realized there was some issue but not exactly what it was. I still didn't want to exclaim to everyone there was a roach nor make the decision for strangers to completely relocate while they were eating their appetizers, so I asked that the table be cleaned. While waiting for that cleaning I saw another little roach, much smaller than the first, then a few minutes later , another little roach crawling on top and side of the table closer to the grill side (I was seated on the corner/end of table). Still, no one had come to clean the table to I had to call someone over ask that it be done after the third roach was seen on to of the table. All of this occurred during the cooking process so I had become paranoid, grossed out , and lost my appetite , which really made me mad b/c I was looking forward to my meal. Long story short, I begrudgingly ate a few bites, my daughter managed to almost her complete kid's meal 🤦, this is how much she loves their food lol. I didn't consider asking for any kind of discount when the manager spoke with me after the first roach was located but he did volunteer a discount for myself and others at the same table and I thanked him. I received the check and noticed the manager discounted the meal by $8.61. Originally my meal was $19.95, and her child's meal was $14.50. My remaining total after discount was $27.91 and I left a $8.00 tip. I've included a photo of the receipt. I had 3 roaches ( that I physically observed) crawling around the table right in front of us while our food was being cooked inches away. I didn't push the issue because I felt so bad for the chef, he was amazing and so apologetic. After I got home and the more I thought about it, I became quite perplexed. Call me crazy but considering the circumstances, I don't think I should have paid just $8.61 less to watch the most disgusting type of bug crawl all over our table in the direct vicinity as out food, dinnerware, silverware, and glasses, while we try to eat, especially when three bites were I could manage to eat. I think it's important that management conduct an intensive pest removal plan. Three in one small area tells me that are numerous elsewhere. I want my Miyabis back!! **Lastly, and most importantly, sending my deepest apologies to the chef for being put in that position. He did an amazing job and he was truly truly...
Read morehave no idea why my parents still like eat here. This gonna be my last time stepped a foot in this restaurant. The service was horrible, and the restaurant had been down hill not quite busy on sunday. I purchased a gift certificate for mom to use on mother day since she deserves it, gave my credit card to the host who is the manager, he ran it through no problem, came out with the receipt but asking for my ID. At this point, i already felt offensive because i came with my mom to bought gift certificate couple time; they didn't ask for her ID at any points. He could have done it before he ran my card. Went back to the car, and could not find it since i changed my wallet this morning; forget to put it back with the cards. I felt bad and sorry about it, but we live close by I could come back another day and get it. I went back inside and told him that i forgot my ID. He said bring ID and he will get me a gift card instead of invoice and charge once I have my ID present with me. I went to business school, accounting major and i did study business law. I was a shock how he handled the situation. You can not hold someone's money since you have not proved any service. Barely my fault that i forgot ID and i told him that but the way i got treat was not right and how many people actually get asking for an identification card with the credit card before pay for their dinner. I went home got my ID, came back to the restaurant no choice they hold my money, I felt mistreated and i thought how to let them know that. I told the manager i was upset about the way he handle my situation. He simply asked why because there was different between how you treated my mom vs me who prepaid you a dinner which we did not receive yet. None restaurant have a right to check you ID unless they felt like they were at risk. We always three sometime with friend and spent least 130 there. Well, maybe i should dress nicer and more causual instead short and t-shirt on sunday evening, maybe an 24 years old spent 100 on gift certificate for my mom make me a credit card fraud to them. He told me he wanted to protect his restaurant and me, well don't run if you felt not safe. The door was not have any sign that they will check your ID before transaction, and basic you can't random check people like that. I received a horrible service, but i know that she like yall so i wont spoil her appetite with this story. But for me, I will spend my dollar at some different restaurants now that not required my identification card...
Read moreCame here for my son's 8th birthday. First issue, I called ahead, asked if we could bring balloons, was told no, which is fine, but then we show up to the restaurant and two other parties were permitted balloons. I didn't say anything because I did not want to be petty or negative on my son's birthday, so I let it go. We sat down, everything started out ok. Food was good, and our chef was really funny and entertaining. Second issue came up when I looked over and saw a sizeable cockroach crawl next to my son's plate. Again, I kept my mouth shut and just swatted it on the floor. Other patrons also commented on the presence of roaches. I used to work in food and beverage and I know that especially in the south it is hard to keep pests away 100% of the time. Third issue, I had asked when I made a reservation that my son get the birthday package, which included cake, a photo, and special birthday song. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she said they canceled all of the birthday packages that night because they ran out of cake. The hostess did not let me know when we checked in. Again, I said nothing negative, and asked if they could at least sing to him so he could feel special on his big day. They waited until AFTER we gave them our card to pay to come out and sing. My son had already gotten up from the table to go use to the bathroom at that point, after I had him wait a fairly long time at the table in the hopes that they would show up before we left. Towards, the end, our waitress Ginger was nowhere to be found. She started out strong, but then she disappeared for a very long time. They had even put the birthday charge on our bill and brought us the bill and collected our payment method BEFORE they even came to the table to attempt to sing. She half heartedly apologized and attempted to blame someone else for it. The fact that they were going to charge the full birthday package price for just a song and a plate with a couple orange slices on it is ridiculous. They also charged two adult sodas for my 8 and 9 year old, but not for my 5 year old, when all 3 of them got kids meals. Needless to say, I think we will skip this place next time. We went here because it had rave reviews and many people recommended it, but other than our entertaining chef, we were left unimpressed. For $150 for two adults and 3 children, no appetizers or special beverages, I was...
