Full disclosure, we went here on 4/20/2024, but I had this review written out in my phone and just remembered this place existed, so here is my review:
Horrible experience, and I will not be back. I met a friend at this cafe for brunch, 3 of us total. We sat down at 11. We were not given any silverware or napkins, but we were given menus. It was a wait before she came to even take our drink orders, and by that time, we had decided what we wanted to eat as well. We ordered a round of waters for the table, a soda, and two mimosas (8 dollars each!!). For food, we ordered chicken and waffles, the blueberry feta salad, and mine was the strawberry chicken salad. She brought us our waters and soda and told us the mimosas were in the works. The server also brought us some biscuits and honey (which we couldn't eat because they were covered in honey and we had no silverware) It was about 20 minutes before we got our mimosas, and they were warm, as if they had been sitting on the counter in the sun for hours. This was our first red flag, and we should have listened, but we wanted to give them a chance. The server didn't pass by often, but we flagged someone down and asked for silverware. They brought some over, still no napkins. The server still didnt pass us by often but at some point one of us went to the bathroom to grab some of the paper towels in there for us so we could actually eat our biscuits (which were delicious) Eventually, the server came over and told us the chicken for the chicken and waffles was being made fresh, hence the wait. She asks us if we want them all out at the same time, to which we said yes. I've never had to specify that the entrees should come at the same time. It took about 30 minutes for one dish to come out, which was the one they said they were waiting on. Only after they bring out the troubke dish do they tell me that the meal I ordered was no longer available (why is it still on the menu?) and ask if I want anything else. I asked for the brunch burger instead. We waited for 14 minutes (44 total now) for one more dish to come out, which was the blueberry feta salad. I was starving at this point, and my friends were sharing a bit of their food with me, and both of their dishes were delicious, which was the only reason I was willing to stay. Finally, after 21 more minutes (65 total!!!) Did my burger come out. It was brought out by the kitchen manager, who explained that only when they finished the trouble dish did she notice what I had ordered and told them to let me know. I said thank you for the apology, and I felt it smoothed things over in my mind and I was just happy to have some delicious food to eat after such a long wait, until I took a bite of the burger. The patty was straight up burnt, with a thick layer of char that was also coming off in flakes onto the tomato. It was repulsive. At this point I'm fed up, we flag down a server and ask for the check, I told her I would not be paying for my burger since I had to wait over an hour to be served and it was inedible. We waited for 5 more minutes. The whole time, no manager came to talk to us, and the servers were staring at us as they walked by and peeked at us from the kitchen. By this point, we had enough and left enough cash to pay for the two dishes and left.
On the plus side, the atmosphere is nice, and the other food was delicious, but the service was horrible, and my...
Read more*clearsThroat It hurts me to put this because I love my People ✊🏿 and by this being me and my wife’s first time here, you guys really disappointed me. I hope this review helps to make mistakes better. I know I’m just one person out of a lot of customers you guys serve, but this has to be said. SO HERE WE GO!!
By walking in the atmosphere was amazing. It gave us lounge vibes and by that it felt like I was in a safe place. Me and my wife was seated and greeted with a smile, which we loved.
Even tho we was seated with love we was not approached by our waitress for another 10 mins. Now I can say the Lemonade was fresh and good and my wife’s coke was great also. but the communication was off because soon after our drink order was taken another guy came to do the same job. But that was no biggie I can say our Waitress was pleasant when she came over to us. But it took her another 20 to 44mins to just take our order (it was so long I kid you not I forgot we didn’t order because I was looking around to notice our food still haven’t gotten to us) the table next to us gotten their food ate and left before we even got our order taken. Now she did apologize for the long wait. That made us give her the benefit of the doubt. But from the time it took for them to take our order it took ALMOST 1hr and some change to get our order. Now I would of been ok with the wait if THE DAMN FOOD HAD SEASONING!!! RESPECTFULLY
it hurt me because my FIRST REACTION WAS COME ON BRUH!!! altho the shrimp and grits was pleasant to the eyes the taste wasn’t hitting on nothing and it was supposed to be creamy grits for me and my wife, but our grits was watery (Very Watery). The biscuits were freshly baked, but it was bland bread no taste. Nothing but dough and honey. Now me and my wife got the Wings and I can tell you THE GREASE WAS BURNT BAD. The wings was over cooked, dark and the only taste we could taste was burnt grease with no seasoning. It wasn’t good.
I’m just disappointed at the hole experience and idk if I would return maybe for the hookah and mimosas but IDK. All this is respectfully but I give it 2 stars for the waitress and the...
Read moreA down the middle even dining experience.
My experience at this restaurant flip flopped from positive to negative throughout the whole meal. When you first walk up, the outside is not something for the front cover of a magazine and the surroundings aren’t either, but when you walk in, you’re met with a fine dining feel with a modern look. We sat outside which wasn’t bad, but there was a cook smoking outback smelling up the place. The seats were also kind of difficult to eat in. Optional seat cushions would be helpful.
The staff was very kind but they couldn’t really get anything right. It took 3 different tries to get the drinks as ordered and several food mistakes were never corrected. There was a lack of consistency with some plates coming out with syrup while others didn’t not and other aspects of the meal. There were only a few tables full and the wait was fairly long. If it got busy I can’t image the wait. The menu was also fairly odd but some surprising options! I didn’t try the avocado toast but it didn’t look worth it just from an aesthetic standpoint.
The honey puff pastry was pleasantly dense and a unique start to the meal. The pancakes and biscuits were also delicious and should be a solo menu item to choose from. Crunchy and fluffy! The fruit on top could be improved though.
The fired deviled eggs are more like fried boiled eggs with a deviled sauce. The cooked yolk in the middle causes a dull taste to overwhelm the dish but if your bite includes some of the salty bacon it can balance out. I think I would have enjoyed it more with some extra sauce or added salt.
Overall, I think 2 and a half stars sums up the experience due to the back and forth. Lack of organization and experience it seems but there is a ton of potential. I might try again...
