Went into the store last night to buy my son a new bow. Get to the counter and the associate is helping someone else, no problem we can wait our turn, this customer was the only other customer so it shouldn't have been to long. So the older gentleman leaves and another associate(well assumed associate as she wasn't wearing a AS shirt) walks up and hands the counter assoc. some paperwork and then they proceed to start flirting with each other... Finally after 10 mins of this he finally says "do you need some help?" like we were just standing there because it was a good place to stand, it wasn't. I say yes, and ask him to see 2 different Diamond bows. I want to see the most expensive one first and point to it when he says "You know how much that costs right?" Obviously I did there was a big price tag in plain sight on both of them! So we look at the bow decide it will work and ask if he has one in stock. He say he will have to get someone to watch his counter to find out, and then just stands there until I said ok I would really like to know if you do. So he gets on the radio and says he needs someone to cover the counter so he can go look.... crickets.... 5 mins later he asks again.... crickets. Thinking back I don't think he keyed the mic and was just faking it to get us to go away so he could go back to flirting with the girl that is still waiting for him to be finished.... At that point we left. Not only was his question and obvious flirting inappropriate, but his lack of interest in selling anything or being able to get anyone to watch his counter to check inventory was extremely unprofessional. I had up to $1000 budgeted but I will spent that with a smaller archery shop that actually wants to sell...
Read moreI buy a lot from Academy. I went in the other day and made a couple large purchases using a gift card (bought a pool a d a handgun). Afterwards I still had just under $50 remaining on my gift card. I apparently dropped the card in the parking lot where a store associate found it. I called about an hour later because I could not find the card. I was told they did not have it. I continued to look. After a short while I called back to see about the pool I ordered and wanted to make sure that transaction was safe. This time someone asked if I was the one looking for the giftcard. That person explained to me that a store associate found it and then went and bought a drink and a snack with it before finding out someone was looking for it. The store held the card for me and returned the money that was spent on it. I spoke with the manager about it because a store associate should of turned it in or made an effort to see who it belonged too ( I just bought a gun which they record the register, card used, transaction number, all my information, etc.). I would expect to not see it again if it was a customer, but an employee shouldn't find it and think they can spend what is on it. Either way, I was not trying to get something for free, just wanted the management there to hear my thoughts and they ended up giving me an additional al $20 store credit for my troubles. I tried to decline but he insisted. Overall, the service is usually good here, hate to give them less than 6 stars, especially after getting everything squared away plus some, but it...
Read moreI ordered a shotgun online 11/5/2022. I paid for it with my Academy Credit Card. On 11/09/2022, I went to pick up my order. Store Pick Up Instructions stated that I had to have: 1: Valid US Government ID 2: Confirmation email or order number NOTHING ABOUT HAVING TO HAVE THE CREDIT CARD THAT WAS USED TO MAKE THE PURCHASE! I had both. When I went to sporting goods about 9:30 on 11/09/2022, I was told that I had to have my Academy Credit card that I used to pay for the gun. I told him that I did no have it and he refused to process my order, even though all the info could have been pulled up on the computer. I told the clerk that I lived 60 miles away, but it didn't make any difference. I told the clerk that it should have been on the confirmation email that Credit Card was required and his reply was that it was stated on the web site. I should have contacted a manager right then, but I didn't feel like arguing. I went home, printed off my confirmation notice(NOTHING ABOUT CREDIT CARD BEING REQUIRED) and returned on 11/10/2022. Different clerk, but I did ask for a manager and explained to her what had happened and another clerk that was there the day before confirmed what I told the manager. I never had anyone apologize for all my trouble. I told the manager that any saving that I had gotten plus more was gone because I had to drive over 120 miles and wasted a half day. I got my gun and left. Not sure I will use the Academy store in...
