Hotel adjacent to highway, poor sound insulation. Parking lot is bad: Their potholes have potholes, seriously.
Location under construction/remodel, so maybe these issues will work out in the future. I suspect many are ongoing quality control issues. "LQ Customer Care” responds to many reviews, so we know they’re attentive to their google rating, just not sure how to fix problems.
Expected warm, hospitable greeting at the front desk. After all, this is the hospitality industry, right? Didn't happen. I get warmer welcomes from car washes. I passed by the front desk 10-20 times in the next two days within 10 feet, making eye each time, but not a squeak out of staff. No welcome, no hello, no thanks. Hiring a friendly team is a basic management function. This is not a dig on the employees, it’s a complaint on the GM: “Remember, there are no bad crews, only bad leaders.”
The room had issues. They get an automatic one-star deduction for having the coffeemaker in the bathroom, despite plenty of room elsewhere. I’m astounded that there are hotel operators that haven’t heard of the fecal-oral cycle. We send missionaries to Africa to teach indigenous peoples not to eat where they poop. What’s worse, room service leaves the coffeemaker top open so that it can hold coffee packets – I’ve never seen that before – making it more receptive to airborne human waste. I wiped it down inside the dusty reservoir, noting the brown residue on the towel, and then ran three cups of water through it, discarding each, and finally gave up after I realized I couldn’t trust that I wasn’t sucking on prior customers’ fecal matter.
My biggest complaint is that I base my Hotwire bookings on ratings, amenities, price, and savings off the regular price. This special rate hotel is on sale at 53% off, $57 versus $122 regular price. Yet, when you go online to the La Quinta site, they’re $79. They lied about the regular price to make it seem a better deal. Their hotwire rating is 8.5/10 and yet their google rating is 3.4/5, a substantial difference, and their recent google reviews are: “drug users,” “syringes,” “knives,” “baby diapers,” “smoke.” I would not have stayed here except for Hotwire’s rankings, which were far off of what I expected. I will re-evaluate whether to continue to use Hotwire based on this experience.
One of the google reviews from two weeks ago is “hot tub out of order, they keep on saying it’ll be fixed tomorrow.” I note on check-in that the hot tub is out of order.
The most unusual thing is that there’s a posted sign at the front desk about the ongoing construction/remodel. It says, “Do not access the 3rd floor.” The room they gave me? It’s on the third floor. The remodel equipment is out my window on the highway side. When they fire up the heavy duty forklift and put it in reverse, the beeping reverberates.
Pets are welcome at no extra charge! That’s great! I don’t own a pet, and the yapping, unattended pup in 337 was ridiculous.
Free breakfast is one of the amenities. You’re looking at fruit loops and a banana. That’s far short of what a real 2.5 to 3-star hotel would offer. I’m a coffee drinker … Nescafe doesn’t cut it. Fortunately for me, there are breakfast restaurants nearby within a 10-minute drive. I selected this hotel over another, in part because that one didn’t list free breakfast.
How does this location and this chain garner these rankings from Hotwire, and to a certain extent, google? I’ve stayed in many a Holiday Inn and Hampton that have these same kind of star rankings, but are head and shoulders above. I must imagine that there’s money changing hands somewhere between this chain and Hotwire, and this stay makes me want to re-evaluate how I book hotels.
I used to use La Quinta quite a bit, for business meetings and for business travel. I won’t willingly stay at a La Quinta again. It would have to be the last hotel room in 50 miles, and my tent had...
Read moreThe only reason this place gets 2 stars is because of the empathy I received from Kendra. If not, it would only be 1 star. The first room I was given was 1306, it was very late and I was very eager to get a shower and in bed. I remove the top blanket to get ready to jump in after my shower. Under the cover, I was greeted by a VERY large stain. I immediately call the front desk and the gentleman who checked me in apologized profusely and sent the other gentleman he was training up to my suite with new keys and another apology. Suite 1316 appeared clean in the shade of night and my exhaustion from jet lag. (I had just landed from NYC at 1030)
The next morning in the shower I found unsightly red hair on shower hair (I bet it is still there beware) and also the floor the corners by the tub (the most basic place I would look to clean if it was my profession) and I also found a very long hair on one of my pillows. I am military and have no long hair on me. I went down to the front desk and met Kendra who was appalled at what I encountered and promised me she would send house keeping up immediately and make sure they took note of what I pointed out. I leave for the day and come back around 6 to find a "do not disturb" sign has been place on my door which I definitely did not do because as you see in the picture, mine was still in my room. This was on 4/22. I called the hotel Wednesday to speak to a manager this week and Tom wasn't around. I left a message for him to please call me back. Today is Friday and I have received no call back. I check my bank account and come to realize I was also over charged. Spoke to Kendra today, and she told me she would look into this problem because I was definitely over charged as per her words.
I have served for over 8 years in the Army and have stayed in hotels in 7 countries and over 20 different states. I've never had anything like this happen. Kendra is a ray of sunshine at thus location, but is totally lacking the support needed to do her job properly. I began to feel bad because despite my anger and frustration I kept my composure, which I imagine isn't the norm. I was furious. I ask for my room to be cleaner and it feels like out of spite, my room was ignored. The remotes in the fist room didn't work, the phone next to the bed in the second room didn't work. Oh did I mention the moldy room with the ice maker on the 3rd floor that leaks water on the the floor as if that's just a normal thing with no sign of a resolution. The room was nice (my view was of a wall) but still bug and the AC worked. I've never gone out my way to air my grievances this much, but I would be totally embarrassed if this was my business.... I'll be contacting corporate today as well. Shame on the...
Read moreBooked this room last minute after multiple United delays/cancellations at DIA. This was the closest room available (approx $95 cab fare away). Honestly, I was grateful to find a room for the night. Upon arrival, I had a fairly positive first impression. The front lobby was clean and had a little market to purchase snacks. The front desk person was pleasant enough, commiserated with me about the airline situation, told me they were sold out even at their high prices (for LaQuinta) and graciously provided me with a courtesy toothbrush and toothpaste. I was assigned Room 1107 which is actually downstairs.
Upon entering the room, my first impression was positive. The room had a separate living/kitchenette area and a bedroom. However, this positive impression lasted all of 2 seconds. The next thing I noticed as I walked to the bedroom was a very strange smell that I couldn't place. Knowing the hotel was sold out I decided to try to ignore the smell and make the most of it. I was exhausted from travel, wanted a hot shower and a decent night of sleep.
I then did my usual security check of the room and was disturbed. At ground level, 2 large windows faced a parking lot. The screen had been pulled away on one window, like someone had tried to get in. I also noticed the room door's security latch looked bent. I put a chair in front of it. That's when I started noticing the furniture. It was filthy. I mean filthy. I cannot imagine how anyone would sit on either the couch or chair.
I placed towels on the bathroom floor so as not to have to touch it and showered as quickly as possible while trying to touch as little as possible. The sink area felt sticky. I used a face cloth over the part I had to touch.
Looking around, I noticed an old receipt behind the nightstand, scratches and dust on the furniture, cobwebs by the AC/Heater which did not seem to work and even red chewing gum stuck to the carpet.
Finally, I got in bed. The strange smell was strongest in the bedroom but I was so tired that I fell asleep pretty quickly...for about 30 minutes. I woke suddenly and immediately identified a smell: urine. For a moment, I wondered if I had urinated in the bed! The smell was so strong. I sat up and inspected the bed. The linens all appeared clean and nothing was wet. But the smell of urine was emanating from the bed. I can only assume that someone or something urinated on the mattress and let it seep in.
I got in the other bed which did not have any odor.
It was a...
