Decided to end our weekend with dinner at Carino's. I chose this place as I had a cash back deal through Bank of America that I needed to use before it expired. I always forget that this place is even here half the time.
We arrived around 8:45pm on Sunday evening...which is pretty late considering. When we walked in, we found that we were one of only 4 tables in the place...so clearly we were sat immediately. It took several minutes for our server to acknowledge that we had been seated in her section. But when she finally did, I learned that she also was the one taking care of 2 of the 3 tables that were there before us...one of which was a party of about 8.
When she returned after telling us she would be right with us, she took our drink order. She did return pretty quickly and had bread with her along with our drinks. By this point we knew what we wanted. We placed our order and she returned a few minutes later with our salads. I must say that I was impressed with the salad. The lettuce was actually crisp, cold, and had good flavor (I ordered Cesar). Most of the time a side salad, especially late at night is wilted, semi cold, and has some lettuce that has browned.
It took an unusual amount of time for our main course to come out...and I don't really know why. Clearly they were not busy...and 2 of the 3 tables that were there when we arrived are now gone. So while we waited I was able to look around and notice how the floor had not been cleaned in what appeared to be awhile. It was just full of crumbs from previous diners. Also the party of 8 had left and the table was still left a mess (they still hadn't cleaned it by the time we left). I was very surprised to see the floor as messy as it was considering that this isn't the cheapest place to eat.
When our food finally arrived it was hot, and had good flavor. The pasta was cooked correctly and it really had a nice balance of ingredients. I was happy with the main dish, even if it did take a ridiculous amount of time to arrive.
You cannot go to an Italian restaurant and NOT get cannoli's! For $6.49 for 2 they should be the best on the planet...sadly though they were not. They were not terrible, but not the best I've had.
Overall the experience was not bad, and I would go back again just like I have in the past. I am a little sad that we didn't go on a Monday night as that is when you can get some of the family servings for the price of a single....which is a lot of food...
Read moreFirst time customer, will never return. Went here for my best friend's birthday. There were five us in total. Everyone had issues, but I'll just give you my personal experience because, it's a lot to write on it's own. Drinks went well except for one mistake, everyone ordered appetizers so we could share and try many things. Stuffed mushrooms- $9.99: the insides tasted of bad greens while the cheese on top was burnt and hidden by large amounts of salty cream sauce. Added salad- $2.49: some of the lettuce had brown wilty edges and a very small amount of dressing. 7oz sirloin (medium rare) with fries and mushroom gorgonzola sauce (added on the side)- $17.99: steak was really tough and half was med. rare while the other side was closer to well. Fries were overcooked and had that over greasy but super crunchy texture. The sauce tasted of salt. The waitress never asked how the food was, messed up orders and didn't fill drinks until we were about ready to leave. She was there as we discussed how disappointing everything was. She brought out the checks without asking if we wanted anything else. When my friend mentioned dessert (part of the reason place was chosen) she was like oh, yeah okay. I asked her if it was actually good or is it like the food we all just experienced. Her reply was that she liked them. I asked her for any type of compensation, since the fries were so bad I didn't eat them. She talked to her manager and they gave me a cannoli on the house, it, like all the fried foods, tasted old, but I was done and just wanted to leave. This was just my issues, two others had it just as bad or worse. The whole awful experience cost me $36.14 that is without a tip added in. Didn't think to...
Read moreWhen we first got to our table it was dirty and we had to wipe it down with a clorox wipe. Our wipe when done was filthy! I highly recommend you wipe down your own table. The over all feeling was dirty, from a very gross monitor sitting in the corner and a greasy smear on the glass of a picture and just complete ick sitting there. The chair I was sitting in was broken and not sturdy and wiggled as I sat there. When going back to the restroom, again an over all feeling of not clean. There were paper towels all over the floor but NONE in either dispenser. Only 1 of the stalls would lock and the other two somebody had to hold closed. Service was okay, but our server took orders from us and two other tables before getting them going. Food was very slow coming out with hardly anybody there for 4 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon. One drink order messed up and I ordered a side salad with my steak which didn't come out with the others at our table. We had to ask for it. As for the food, the salads were just plain sad. Don't pay extra for this. The bowl was maybe half full not much in there but there was plenty of dressing which is good. My granddaughters ordered lasagna and tortellini which they enjoyed but the portions for the price were very small. Not what you would expect for sure. The ribeye was good and cooked as ordered. Very disappointed over all. I ordered the steak and instead of fries I ordered broccoli. Don't order the broccoli! It is not fresh, it's frozen and tastes like water. Think Green giant in a steam bag. Not what you expect to to get eating out. This was a birthday dinner for my granddaughter and I was embarrassed that we took her here for...
