Waffle House — Restaurant in Griffin

This was just a great overall dining experience. It exceded any expectations I may have had. I was just taking " the road less traveled" around all the major traffic congestion normally on interstate I-75 north into Atlanta that day and ended up getting hungry as I entered the town of Griffin, Ga. While returning from a Govt. Surplus pickup in Albany and Macon Ga earlier that day. I missed this waffle house and drove by it but I noticed it had an area I could park my gradiator while towing that 18 ft equipment trailer while not taking up the entire parking lot like in most smaller waffles house s so I went around the block and returned. Very glad I did that because it was great food, super service, and a pleasant, clean, secure place to eat my dinner meal. My server was a very sweet and beautiful afrian american young lady, yet she was very down to earth and pleasant to talk with after I was able to " break the ice " later on", at first she was very tense and matter of fact while taking my meal order. I normally order the " all star " meal but not this time because I knew I would not be able to eat all of it and stay awake for the remaining 200 miles of my return trip. So I tried a new meal with just scambled eggs, toast, hash brown potatos, coffee ete. I was a great call. The cook she did a great job and I must say, I could not completely figure her out at first, she was " acting very tough" even when she answered the server when she told her my order. I said acted because I normally can sense or read other pretty good. The cook lady definity " works out " at the gym alot and takes care of herself. Her arms were well toned and not from just " cooking" . I made eye contact with her a time or two and I detected she " almost" smiled . I then realized she was a " sweet and nice " person deep down inside. I wanted to say thanks for making a great meal for me to eat but I waited until later to do that. ( just encase my readings was not correct cause she was in far better physical shape then me and I was very tired from driving most of that night before in very heavy thunderstorms while heading to albany Ga and finally got to my motel at 4am that same morning , i knew she good " take me if I was wrong, lol). Moving on. The server as I mentioned was seemed very stressed and tense. So when she came to check on how my food was after she had brought it to me, I broke the ice with me by saying " well everything is great except one thing! She said "what is that ? I JOKINLY SAID THE SERVICE, THEN BROKE OUT LAUGHGING HARD. SHE SAID "YOU HAD ME THERE FOR A SECOND", THEN SHE OPENED UP. She said, I have alot, almost too much going on right now, I was up uptil 4 am this morning working on a college project., I am not even speaking or seeing my father now. My mother and I are having so relationship issues. Etc. , so I just let her speak, I just listened to what she had to say. She did not go into all the specfics but I knew as an 18 year old young lady she was about to explose of something and I could tell she wants to do well in her future life. ( there was only one other couple at the far end of the waffle house and they were just killing time and drinking coffee) so she had time to listen to my respond. I said , young lady, congrads for completing high schools recently, and now already being or taking college courses great job, you are a person the wishes to secude and wow, working after school as well. Keep up the great work. I think your college professor is trying to test your drive and he or she wants to challenge you in the hopes you will take that challenge and run or at least walk fast with it. So do not let them down. I am not a family counseller but many churches have them and I do know for certian that the lord above listens when his poeple talk to him and that he will not place more on you than you can handle, so maybe just keep that in mind. Do not let these temporary issues in your life cause you long term issues. Just consider them speed bumps in the road.So drive on. I paid then thanked the cook she...

Went to this waffle house visiting from Kentucky and have been there before with great service, but this time was very different! EBONY our server was horrible! We sat down she ignored us, and didn't even wipe the table. She came to take our in the middle of us ordering, she just stopped and started trying to get one of her regulars carry out together. Then she came back and was obviously in a bad mood. She finally called our order. We got our food and within about 2 fork fulls of my eggs i noticed a hair in my eggs. IT ALL WENT DOWN HILL FROM THERE! Our bill totaled $30.75 she says she was taking my meal off but came back with a $28.75 bill that's only $2.00. She was getting more angry by the second when I didn't want to pay for the meal i didn't eat. I had not touched my hasbrowns with onion, the toast and still had the bacon on the side. I had no problem paying for my extra sausage and sweet tea. She had several other servers looking at this ticket cause she didn't want to deduct anything. Finally I asked for the manager when it didn't need to go this far. The manager and DM came over took off the meal and charged me for my tea and sausage but by this point everybody was upset. Then when the manager began to take the extra things she didn't off she was still wanting to charge for the cheese in the eggs the onions in the hash browns and the bacon that came with the meal. So when I said she just didn't want to take it off EBONY then got so upset she told them " I need to go outside before". Before what was my response. Finally I paid the rest of the bill didn't leave a tip and the other sever that took my money said I remember you all and how much fun she had with my group and also the nice tip. She also said other things I won't mention but obviously this girl is a problem! EBONY IS HORRIBLE AND IF SHE CAN'T CONTROL HER ATTITUDE SHE DOES NOT NEED TO BE THERE! I love waffle house. I eat at Waffle houses all the time. That said, I have not seen a waffle house run this poorly in very long time.

The staff were all very friendly when they finally got to us. Most of the time they were just standing around waiting on the manager who was also standing around.

Two took bathroom breaks while we were waiting for someone to greet us after we sat down, neither returned with even a hint of moisture on their hands, but I digress.

Once we were waited on it was fine, but it took 15 mins to get seated (they had to clean* a table first so we had to wait). It's good that we didn't order tea though, they were out.

The food was as good as could be expected from a waffle house, which is to say greasy and delicious. The food came fast once we ordered and our waitress, Cupcake, was outstanding. These were the two high points of the meal, sladly.

*by clean I mean they wiped the top of the table. We still had to actually clean it ourselves with the small napkins. I then found two puddles of a disgusting sticky substance on the seat and seat back. I am going to assume it was jelly of some sort out of fear of the...
