Had the chance to eat here yesterday. It's a very tiny restaurant that seats only a few people. It was 1:30 in the afternoon and still crowded for lunch. The first thing I noticed was that more than 1/2 the folks in the restaurant were walking out with doggy bags. Dead giveaway that the portion sizes are large. We got garlic bread to start. It was very poor quality frozen box store bread with no garlic on it at all. My husband ordered chicken piccata so his entree came with a salad. The salad was a nice generous house salad with lots of iceberg and very little veggies but the house Italian dressing was delicious. The salad could really use an update with chickpeas, mozzarella, croutons. After all this is an Italian restaurant. When his pasta arrived he loved it. Said it was excellent, plenty of lemon. I ordered the gyro plate. It was good, not great. It had 3 slices of gyro that was a very mild, almost bland flavor. The feta had a nice flavor, but the spanikopita was soggy. It should be crispy. Everything was a bit over salted as evidenced by my continuous need for water later last night. The bill came to $27 for lunch which I thought was too pricey. I would much rather have smaller portions at lunch and pay a reasonable $7.99. All in all it it is unlikely we will visit again, but this restaurant was better than many of the...
Read moreI would like to say me and my husband James have a new favorite Restaurant. We live in Locust Grove, Ga which we love and have lived here for over 20 years. Our little town has grown alot but he don't have a huge selection of food to choose from and no italian or Greek at the all except just Pizza so we usually have to fight traffic towards Atlanta to fine any fine food. It can take hours. So anyway James remembers his last Class Reunion was catered by Angelo's and am I glad he did. The food was Devine and all hand made. What a great selection we over ordered to have some at home to eat later. Every thing was great and the prices it was well worth it and you got hearty amount of food. Our waitress was name Melanie she was wonderful, very nice lady that was just perfect in serving us. We have no complaints at all. It was food was out of this world it just so mouth watering good. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We didn't have to put up with any accidents or road construction to get there at all plenty of parking. We definitely will be going back in the near future. I highly recommend this restaurant and I hope they decide to stay in Griffin and strive to great success because they truly deserve it. We were very pleased. Thank you so much Angelo's and thank you Melanie y'all are...
Read moreOur food was excellent. The portion size was large, especially the very large single piece of cake my wife ordered (there was enough in that single piece of cake for three or four people to eat). I was not going to eat any cake, but it was huge, so I wound up with half of the piece. The atmosphere is that of a small restaurant. Not that of a fine dining establishment. Not that the atmosphere detracts from the food - it does not. It is just a simple sit down place with minimal frills. For the life of me, I cannot understand why they are not open on at least one weekend day (aside from wanting the weekend off). I rarely have a weekday off, so we and our friends had walked past the restaurant several times, over many months, and wondered if COVID or the recent tornado had put them out of business. Several other people were also in the area near us, also discussing why the restaurant was closed. The food was very good, so I am sure they would have lots of Saturday business, if they opened, and I am sure I would return. Unfortunately, until I get another weekday off, I won't be able to return to try the other items on the menu; from what I could see of other's orders, everything looked quite good, and...
