A group of friends all meet up for dinner somewhere in Griffin about once a month. We try our best to pick new locations or spots that we really liked. One of the guys had been here to have a beer and mentioned it being pretty good on that aspect. I was one of the first folks in the door and told the host that we needed a table for five. He asked me to give him a minute and excused himself to take a look as to where we could be parked. He asked if we would have an issue with another chair being pulled up next to one of the tables designed for four. No issue there, the host was gracious, and we were seated in quick order.
One other fellow had showed up about the same time so we ordered a couple of beers and a glass of water. Beer came out fast, water never came. The rest of our party arrived within the next five minutes and we all just sort of sat there waiting for 10-15 minutes for our waitress to come back by. At this point it is only fair to mention it was Friday night and by all appearances were overbooked.
The rest of the fellows ordered some drinks and an exceptionally long period of time went by before we were able to place our order. In the meantime we are watching two tops that came in after us get food, eat, leave in a reasonable time frame. A party of around a dozen people were sat next to us and had some kind of party vibe going. When the waitress did come back we were able to put in our orders. Don't be fooled. This is a run of the mill BBQ place that just happens to brew beer as well....so you can have BBQ chicken, BBQ pork, or brisket. The menu is filled out with some salads and apps and so on but brass tacks comes down to BBQ. The food itself was really good, the pricing wasn't bad although I will say I would have liked a bit more on the sides. I got what amounted to a big kitchen spoon full of each of my sides.
To round this out, the food was good but the extraordinarily long period of times we had to wait, didn't see our server anywhere, was a bit unreasonable. I would recommend NOT going here on a Friday night unless you just wanted a beer and to hang out yelling things across the room to all the other people you know. As a plus, the parking...
Read moreCongratulations you are the worse place I have been in Griffin!!! I waited for a hostess to show up & asked for a low top table for one. “Oh don’t you want to sit at the bar?” NO ( the place had plenty … 10+ ) empty tables. As a single female I just wanting a quick meal near my RE investments Downtown on a Sunday night. (ie nothing else open) OK, A great opportunity to try out the new place in town. So I waited, a waitress finally showed up & I asked for her recommendation on a very hoppy bold full body robust beer. NO fruit. After much discussion ( BTW..she had never heard of IPA, Hopsecutioner or even Terrapin Beer Co.) but on her recommendation I ordered. Unfortunately I could not drink the fruit juice she delivered. AND the menu offered NO MEALS for someone who does not eat meat OR fat fried food. Guess I will walk home & cook. But… I waited & waited ( It was a Sunday night, the place was mostly empty) When the waitress finally came back to take my order I gave her a 20 & asked for the check. She returned with purchase receipt for $4.28 & 15.00 in cash. Yep, do the math. Either she intentionally shorted me .72 cents OR she could not be bothered to count out the change! IF she had returned the correct amount due she would have at the very least gotten a full $1.00 if not $2. I am generous with waitstaff. NOT returning the correct amount due is dishonest. Too tired to wait & point this out to a manager I walked back to my place to cook dinner. I will not be going back to the “new place “ in downtown Griffin and I highly suggest you DO NOT go...
Read moreIf you have a gluten allergy, you will be very disappointed. Why? My wife called to ask if they had gluten-free options for me. The staff member said, " The menu can be made gluten-free for almost all the items." When we got there with a large group of 25 to eat. My only options were meat and a small 10.00 dollar Caesar salad. Really? I was hungry and didn't want to fill up on just bbq chicken, which is sliced with a machine somehow. I've never seen chicken in that shape but good. The chicken, brisket, were good, but the pulled pork was dry. According to my wife. I can't eat wheat, barley, rye, or red meat from a tick bite eight years ago. I have what's called alphagow that makes me allergic. The server was friendly but had too many tables to keep up with, but she did her best.
I got a private tour of the Brewery and to take pictures and I got to talk with someone in management. I expressed my disappointment that the restaurant didn't have at least a gluten-free bun for the growing population with a gluten allergy. She listened to my concerns and would bring it up to the owners for consideration. It's the little things like a gluten-free bun or dessert or a dedicated frier to have fries. Etc that makes a customer like me happy.
Would I recommend this restaurant? Not really, until more options are available and staff are more honest on the phone. You have been warned. Would I return? Probably not. I had to go somewhere else to get full on something other than...
